The White Rose pub was my local when I lived in Middlesbrough; it was a traditional pub with an interesting twist. The pub has 2 bowling alleys in it so when you are having a drink you can have a game of bowls with you mates. Other than this it has quite a big section with Pool and Snooker tables with seem to draw a lot of attention. If you would rather just have a drink then you can do so on one of the many massive big screens, these are excellent when there is a good game on. The staff are always polite a friendly and they offer a good lunch time menu, quite often you get a lot of students popping in on lunch time, on an evening it is always reasonably busy(not so much with students) and has a good atmosphere. I wish I still had a local this close and convenient
