I am now the happy owner of two new tyres and inner tubes on my 15 year old Dursley Pederson with its wooden wheel rims. I know nothing about bikes, being the ultimate fair weather cyclist so the friendly and helpful advice and explanations were much appreciated. I took the bike in on Monday and it was ready on Wednesday. I’m very happy to have a resource like this close to home. I will use them again.

Turns out Withington Cycles are really good for accessories as well as bikes. After a bit of chilly ride I finally decided I needed some specialized gloves for riding on my road bike. Was some great advice, and I came out with a good pair of gloves, and tips for looking after them. Just about managed to stop myself looking at the bikes, but they’ve some great stock in there. I’ll be back at some point I’m sure. Hmm, perhaps a cycling jacket is required soon… Love having bike shop on my doorstep. Thought I’d add a review as the previous ones were awhile back.

Visiting this shop on a Saturday lunchtime was probably not the truest reflection of it’s service as I had to wait for an age for my bike to be sorted by staff who looked rushed off their feet and a little bewildered by the concept of customer service. The price was good though(£10 for two new pedals fitted) and the guys in there were friendly enough(if a little awkward). I would go back as it’s close to home and they did help me out more than perhaps a more corporate environment would. Recommended for booking bikes in and coming back later rather than popping in with a quick job or query.

This shop is packed from floor to ceiling with a bewildering array of bikes — new and second hand, adults and childrens, cheap and expensive. It’s not quite so well organised or spacious as Edinburgh Cycles or Cycle Logic, but they do the best they can with the limited space available. The knowledgeable staff are on hand to advise you, and every new bike purchased comes with 2 free services. They can also order bikes and accessories in for you. I’ve never had any repairs done here, but wouldn’t hesitate to take my bike in if I was nearby. They offer a full repair service from punctures to a complete makeover for your bike. A basic service will set you back £40 not including parts. A great little bike shop suitable for everyone from students looking for a cheap and quick way to get to uni, to cycle pros.

Withington Cycles helped me out when I got a flat tyre last year. I was miles away from home and only had a few pounds in my backpack. The usual price for taking off the wheel and replacing the inner tube is £10(plus the price of the tube). After a little bit of persuading and a lot of eyelash batting, the kind gentleman helped me remove the wheel for £6 and allowed me to come back with some cash for the tube. It’s well worth getting your bike serviced here too, if you use it frequently. Cleaning and degrease is £10 and brake service is £8 each. If you look after your bike, your bike will keep looking after you!

This place is very good if you want to get bikes or spares for your cycles. The staff are very good and friendly. They give honest advice about cycles and dont try to just sell it to you without knowing your needs. They understand what you need first and then give you advice. The place is very welcoming and is good for locals as you dont have to travel too far to buy a reasonable cycle. They also have almost all types of spares for cycles.

If you’re like me, you may well have sudden eratic urges to go on an excercise régime, which predictably dies down after a short few weeks. It was during such a period, that I decided to dust off my old bike that had been lurking in my boyfriend’s attic for some years, but to my dismay discovered it was in a pretty sorry sight In peddled Withington cycles. I took the bike down for the friendly experts to take a look at, and in a matter of days, and for just £50 my bike had a brand new saddle, was totally MOT-d and ready to roll. What I like about this place is the friendly, expert service. They really know their stuff, and you can trust them. If you’re looking for a new bike, they offer great advice.
