Went to the Vermilion for my daughters birthday, We all had the banquet set menu which was quite expensive but worth every penny 4 or 5 dishes between 2 people and a good selection to. The quality of food was amazing lots of different flavours… Also the waiters couldn’t do enough for us. when we first arrived we had pre drinks upstairs in our own private pod for our party, then went back to it after our meal. The large room had its own bar &DJ fantastic night…

I love the décor and atmosphere here. If you(literally) want the red carpet treatment then I recommend Vermilion. I love Asian fusion and their banqueting menu does not disappoint. The cocktails in the bar are fabulous too. Samed on the beach(lychee) is my favourite. They are pricey, but well worth it.

Came here for my husbands birthday, apart from being a little empty, there was only 4 other people besides us, we absolutely loved the place! From setting foot inside to leaving we had 5 star service and the food was out of this world! Very well presented, cooked from fresh ingredients and excellent service from our waitress who was very helpful.

Went here for an enjoyable evening after reading the general positive feedback. Had a quick drink in the bar upstairs where the waitress spilled a fair amount of our champagne. We ordered our food, after waiting an hour for our starters we called for the manager who’s peace offering was some prawn crackers. After a further short wait our starters arrived the ’ speciality’ prawns(very expensive) where over cocked and spring rolls where poor. At this point we decided to leave. So Overall if you want to go to a supposed fantastic thai restaurant go else where, if you want to go a place that pretends to be ’ trendy’ and ’ fashionable ’ restaurant go ahead.

Once upon a time there was a girl who loved Thai food, and dreamed of finding a magical place to celebrate… well ok, that is a little extreme BUT it is true that I love Thai food, and am always on the look out for good places. So, this year, the big birthday celebration needed somewhere special for the family meal. Having heard amazing things about Vermillion, and driven past it a million times, I wanted to go, but I had 2 considerations(1) costly and(2) suitability for children; I needn’t have worried! Sunday lunch was the time to go, with the set menu being under £15 a head, and children eating for half price — my youngest niece even got to eat for free! The whole experience was phenomenal. The service was wonderful from start to finish, the quality and the variety of the food was sterling, and the venue is absolutely stunning. After lunch and special family time, my nieces and I went exploring into the bar area above which is a child’s(and adults with a big kid inside) dream. The place has big comfy sofa’s that are like space pods, and the lights that hang everywhere with beautiful colours create an atmousphere that I haven’t experienced anywhere since. If you fancy being transported far from City’s stadium and the big Asda to the decadent offerings of the far east… then this is the solution you’ve been waiting for!

You will wonder what on earth you are doing there, sitting in a car park in Hulme opposite a shipping company, you’ll check the address and question why there was a guy operating the car park barrier. It gets bizarre, almost Dadaesque as you walk to the front of the building and in the middle of this industrial estate there’s a red carpet with velvet rope in the empty, still night as if there’s going to be hoardes of paparazzi or fans. But it’s empty save for a bored looking doorman and some unimaginative corporate art. Once inside it’s a little better, there’s incense in the air and it’s suddenly very dark and atmospheric… to undermine all the pained attempts to make this place look sophisticated they’ve pasted the inside of the lift with positive reviews. No sources, just general OMG statements. It’s tacky. It’s like walking in on a circle jerk. You’re already there, they should let the food do the talking without The Lift of Brainwashing. The décor is lovely, this I can say with confidence. Well designed, a little disconcerting sometimes with the floating neon heads but I warmed to them after a while, as trippy as they were set in this pan-asian setup. A tad overwraught? Looks like those Vegas attempts to appear refined or classy when in reality it’s a bit OTT. But didn’t I just say let the food do the talking? So… The menu is varied though a little uninspired. Thai green curry and kebabs, pad thai and parathas, nothing too unfamiliar. I do get annoyed with the type of restaurant that needs to be constantly telling you how amazing it is, and the menu does keep finding ways to name-drop. Irritating but it’s a matter of personal taste. I had a papaya salad to start that smelled great but tasted of little. I ordered the thai green curry as my main course. There was nothing wrong with it. It was fine. It wasn’t exemplary by a very long shot, in fact it was similar quality to a thai green curry I’d bought for £4.50 at Petticoat Lane Market a few weeks earlier. It was fine. Average. Everyone else’s food was also average, the tilapia was strangely sweet, the pad thai was a little stodgy but all were okay. I think this is where my experience starts to get marred by the clientele. This is some sort of poser central. By eight it started filling up with wannabe wags, bad fake tans and extensions. Hen parties. The volume was growing, girly squeals and the bizarre music. Loud dance music which I normally love. In a club. Not a restaurant where people generally have conversations while they eat. Service was poor. Table of six, only five drinks arrived. We had to remind the waiter about the sixth, he went away and came back to say they’d run out of my choice. The drink that was eventually chosen arrived without a glass. The amuse bouche– table of six, only four came to the table. The remaining two arrived about three minutes later. Not normally a big deal. But a big deal if you’re talking about one prawn on the end of a cocktail stick. The waitress knocked a drink when laying the plates down, some beer fell into the plate of rock lobster. She acted as if it hadn’t happened and walked away. We had to ask for napkins to dry the table which isn’t on, not for the type of place it tries to present itself as. Our glasses stood empty for much of the time with nobody clearing them, nobody asking if we wanted anything else or if our meals were alright. Which made the poor loser walking the floor with a headset on look faintly ridiculous; what on earth was he doing? To me this came across like a nice place to sit and even eat, a place to be seen in. As a restaurant it is batting above its weight. Apart from the fancy décor, you could be in Chinatown for the quality of food and service. Apparently footballers come here to eat. And we all know what sophisticated tastes they have. My guess is they aren’t here so much for the food as for the ambience and the meat market. Don’t come here for the full price menu, take a set menu or a buffet. Doubt you’d be missing out on much. On your way out, stick to the red carpet as trying to walk around it, you’ll find all the paving slabs are broken. Which is a great analogy for the place itself. A lot of gloss and showing off for something that really isn’t all that great.

Let set the scene: You’re with a loved one. Your skin is warming under the glow of yellow and blue misty lighting and you feel the romantic atmosphere grow around you. Your muscles relax to the sound of the oriental tinkling music and you drift off into an Eastern dream. Your loved one kicks you and what… your round the corner from Moss Side?! Not in Thailand! Well do not feel stupid that Vermilion whirled you into an Oriental tiss, it’s just that convincing! Everything from the giant stone lions at the entrance down to the filigree patterns on the chair covers, screams decedent Asia. But it does so it such a calm and chilled manner. The tower of glowing Buddha heads and the Café Del Mar background music create such a relaxed atmosphere its impossible not to get convinced into meditating over your meal. Sorry…yes a meal. That’s why we’re here, for the food. May I suggest going on a week night when there are plenty of offers to be found on the website; 3 courses & wine for £17.95 was our pick of the week — on from Sunday till Wednesday. The menu included three starters and three mains which were to share and then one dessert each. And it was absolutely beautiful! The food was so immaculate, in flavour, in appearance and it fit in so perfectly with the Oriental traditional chic style of the restaurant. The mains were accompanied with seasonal vegetables and rice and as a side we ordered a naan bread, but there was just too much food. By the end of the meal we had entered a food coma and as we tried to resuscitate ourselves we realised we’d only spent a measly £36 on such a fantastic meal(and fantastic amount of food)! We lasted on the one glass of wine which was included within the meal deal but if your ordering food or drink of the main menu, just make sure you check the prices. They burned my eyes when I looked and if you’re not careful could easily add up; in saying that, for the right occasion visiting this restuarant is definitely worth the money. The only minor negative I can pick out is the restaurants rather random location. Placed within Sport City just around the corner from the Manchester City Stadium; the large warehouse looking building is extremely misleading and if you didn’t already know about it then you definitely wouldn’t stumble across it! Final note, on the service which was cracking and so attentive! All round probably my best Asian food experience — and I’ve been to Asia! Do — check out the weekly deals. Don’t — sit in silence all night because you’re so in awe of this restaurant.

I’ve been here 5 times now, each time even more enjoyable. From outside the restaurant doesn’t look like much, kind of resembels a warehouse. Yet once you step inside, luxury. The host who greets guests is polite and smiling. In the more expensive price range but very much worth it. The service is exellent. Very attentive but not hovering over your shoulder. We were offered complimentary starters which went very well with our main dishes. There was a lot of variety and the server was very helpful with recommendations. I would definitely go again.

I’ve just eaten here for the second time when visiting friends in Manchester and the food is really excellent. We went for Sunday lunch buffet which is £12.99 per person. There is a very good selection of meet and vegetarian starters, sushi, soup and salads. For main course there were various curries, kebabs and noodle dishes all of which were beautifully flavoured, well described on the labels and refilled very regularly. Deserts are pretty average although on this occasion there were some delicious cupcakes! The interior of the restaurant is very stylish, comfortable and clean. The staff are very efficient, I wouldn’t go as far as to say friendly but they are civil and attentive. My only complaint on this occasion was that the toilets were a bit of a state which I would hazard a guess was because of the large number of children there happened to be in the restaurant at the time! All in all, I’d definitely recommend eating here. It’s excellent value for money and a good standard of food.

I am genuinely surprised by some of the other reviews. This is one of the best Asian restaurants I have ever visited if not the best and it is truly the complete package. The décor is phenomenal. The waiting excellent. The food out of this world. If you want to try Vermillion on a budget, the sunday buffet from 12 – 4 is one of the best deals in Manchester, and I say that despite it being £14. It is that good. It is worth it.

Vermilion has been going for a couple of years and now all the hoopla has died down I bet the owners havel yet to reap good return on their investment. Or perhaps they don’t need to and it is just a play pet project for the owners who also own Seamark(the building next door) Hulme is not a nice area and it really is an odd place to have a restuarant such as this, bit out the way and not a place I recommend for a nice stroll. The décor is great and they spent millions of pounds designing it, so you will certainly be in awe of the place. However the food is not so grand. It is by no means bad but come on!!! This is Manchester and as fellow Unilocalers would testify there is a massive choice for diners and to be honest when it comes to food alone this place falls short of a few places I can think of. As I said the food is ok, and the place is well worth checking out once, but will you return there on a regular basis? I think not. Oh, and I have no idea who thought it was a good idea to make this brochure that you can pick up on your way out, but it did make me cringe. Awful design and a blatantly staged picture with a rather lairy looking Ryan Giggs with an accompanying caption which read«regular customers» made me just think«school boy error!!!» So perhaps its not so much the place, which is great, nor the food, which is not bad. It’s just… it seems the owner put a lot of time, effort and money into the place and left it for a bunch of monkeys to run… But hey I took me madre here on her birthday and she loved it. The ambiance of the place. So much so she didn’t really care what the food was like. I imagine that sentiment is echoed quite alot… So 3*s is about right me thinks… A-ok indeed fellow Unilocaleeps. Unilocal ya later aligator.

Well. Wow. The fact that this place is designed by the same person responsible for the Buddha Bar in Paris, as Angela says, is evident as soon as you walk in. A three-storey building, beautifully ornate down to the very last detail, and quite handily located close to the City of Manchester Stadium, it has to be seen to be believed. Mixing gorgeous Asian antiquities with über-modern architecture, it’s just the very definition of postmodern, dahling. We know it’s a feast for the eyes, but what of the food? In the incredible open kitchen, the order of the day is Asian Fusion with a posh twist. Foie Gras, Japanese Maki Roll and Dover Sole accompany the likes of Green Curry and tiger prawns. Chumpol Jangprai, the chef, is well-renowned for his skill — in fact he’s one of Thailand’s most respected cooks and was named ‘Best Chef in Bangkok’ in 2003. As for Cinnabar, it’s a warmly coloured and warmly atmospheric space at the top of the restaurant, full of beautiful paper lampshades and a Buddha sculpture that’ll take your breath away. But the unique selling point is the beds. Yes, beds! Rather like that bar in Sex and the City, Cinnabar actually offers private reclining spaces for its guests. Gimmicky? Maybe. But stylish? Heck yeah.

What an amazing space. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve been told that size doesn’t count– and now I no that all those women were lying! This bar is massive and hugely impressive. Somewhere between a scene from Barbarella and Fear & Loathing, the Cinnabar could certainly add some Viva to Las Vegas. Though the drinks are pricey and the clientelle intimidatingly relaxed about it, this is place you have to experience at least once. If your nights out are all about escapism then this is definitely the place for you. Traditional ale drinkers need not apply!

I went here for a friend’s hen do and it was fabulous. The food was delicious and whilst it pushed me to my limits in terms of heat, it was still delicate and tasty. Service was pretty good and the upstairs bar, Cinnabar, was excellent too. I’d definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking for a special evening.

Vermilion Cinnaber is situated in Newton Heath Manchester from the outside Vermillion looks like a DFS or something from the inside what a pleasant surprise, well worth the trip out of town. Inspired interior, very stylish and well themed/suited to the food(although a litte dark to see the menu!). Food did not disappoint, especially at such reasonable rates for the set menus(drinks a little expensive but good cocktails). Also pleased to say that the service was spot on, felt the staff genuinely couldnt do enough for you. We recommend.

When in this restaurant you feel like you are a million miles away from Oldham. The entrance of the restaurant looks very stylish and you know that it’s going to be a good meal from the onset. The restaurant itself specialises in Asian foods. If you like Asian food this place is a must. The staffs are very welcoming and treat you like a king. The food itself is amazing, there is a massive variety of dishes, most of which I have never heard of before. I love Thai food so I have wanted to go hear for ages. To be honest I can’t remember the name of the dishes we ordered but they were delicious, it’s a great place to try if you want to try something new. After we eat our meal we topped it off with a few house Tequila, they were really strong and done the trick. It is a little over priced but worth it if you fancy slashing out for a meal

A recent addition to Manchester’s gastronomy scene — Vermilion is a £4.5million, 200 seater collossus of a project. A Thai restaurant with a touch of the flamboyance. The interior — all pods, fluorescent Buddha statues and orbs –has been designed by the team behind Paris’ Man Ray and Buddha Bar. Think what the set of Seven Years in Tibet would have looked like had Liberace and Dusty Springfield been permitted artistic license to roam. You’ll be spending well over £25 should you dine here — an admission fee for being a citizen of our haute couture age. Plenty to attract your eye and piqué your interest in here — none more so than the food, prepared by chef Chumpol Janprai — offering everything from lemongrass flavoured sea bass to khang pa pla jungle curry. After dining you can head upstairs to the Cinnabar and dunk frozen fruits in champagne. Or keep it low key and sip a bitter. A Thai place unashamedly getting it’s groove on.

If you go here realizing you’re going to spend at least £25 for dinner and a drink, you’ll have a nice time. It is a massive building out near Manchester City Stadium with dining on the first floor and lounge on the second floor. I did not go for the night clubbing, but I imagine it to be a nice time. The lounge has many little pods with large couches within them for, well, lounging. A friend of mine said you can reserve the pods for a night, but you have to buy a bottle of champagne. The dining area on the first floor is very nicely decorated with what I would call neocultural contemporary. There is a classy volume of neon highlighted illuminated busts of the Buddha. Much thought clearly went into the lighting and interior design. It makes for a nice mood, overall. I ordered the baked tofu and bean vermicelli with vegetables, which comes served in a clay pot for £8. It had a very nice flavor and I enjoyed it very much. The bottom line is that if you have the money to throw down, you should go here.
