right, well im not gay(am i allowed to say that?) but did accidentally end up booking a room here one night(in ignorance of Manchester’s gay scene, i had never even heard of canal street). all i can say is that the staff were obviously used to that happening and had rooms away from the pub. The room was smashing, basket of fruit & complimentary shower gels, soap, shampoo etc in a dish, good clean bedding. The service was top-notch and i loved the breakfast. I would like to add that as a woman i felt very safe there.

This is a review of the bar at the bottom floor of the Rembrandt. The bar has a modern feel and is one of the venues in the gay village mainly for men. It is open every day until midnight most days and has a buzz about it at the weekend. It is popular with the bear and leather crowd in Manchester and is a good meeting place for friends before going onto a nightclub. During the day, the Rem serves lunches which can be eaten outside by the side of the canal under cover. In the evening it turns into a thriving bar which sells a range of beers and spirits. It is not a bad place to go, not the best, but worth a vist if you are on canal street.
