Tesco Express

Some of the best supermarket staff I’ve come across… So so happy in their jobs! They just seem so keen to help, to serve, to carry your basket, or just to recommend a wine! Great service, from what is often a bog standard choice!

I was bombarded with leaflets about this Tesco Express before it even opened. But they weren’t the usual BOGOF offers for washing powder. The residents of Chorlton were not at all happy about the proposal of opening this store and they wanted everybody to know about it. It would ruin the livelihoods of locals, close down local businesses, increase road traffic accidents and turn Chorlton into a clone town… apparently.
I live approximately one minute from this Tesco store, which is also an Esso petrol station, and I can see no evidence whatsoever that the claims of the ‘Keep Chorlton local’ campaigners have become a reality. I still shop at the local greengrocers and the bakery across the road but occasionally pop into Tesco for a lottery ticket or emergency chocolate. Is that a crime? You would have thought so judging by the graffiti that was drawn on this store before it even opened.
Overall, this is not a place to do your weekly shop, but a very handy store where you can buy a newspaper or grab a fresh coffee.
