Our b&b hosts had told us prior to arrival there was a woman who sold vegan cakes from a shipping container round the corner from the house. Great, let’s stop there for cake, check it out, then head on into town for lunch. When we saw that they had a full on 100% vegan menu with cakes, sandwiches, chips, burgers, and milkshakes, I had to readjust the food itinerary, and we stayed where we were. They had around 8 flavours of non-dairy icecreams — I didn’t ask, but have since read another review say they are homemade — and Mr D and I both opted for cookie dough and maple flavours in a milkshake. It was so delicious and looked fabulous when presented to us topped with chocolate sauce. We also both opted for burgers and chips — him going for tofu & seitan and I opted for the soya with Vegusto cheese inside. I was a bit preoccupied with something that afternoon or I would have stopped to chat more with staff, and asked if food was homemade etc. My burger had quite a realistic beefburger style texture. The chips were skinny fries and a bit underwhelming, but a satisfactory side and otherwise not any blip on my wonder at the simple, but varied, menu, and I loved the artwork and inventive ideas on the quirky dining setting!
