I have never met anyone who doesn’t like lobster, and now that there is a place in manchester where you can get a whole lobster(with unlimited fries and salad) for only £18, you would be a fool to turn down such a deal. Or so you would think. We turned up on nye to start off our celebrations in style with lobster and champagne. The restaurant was empty at 1.30pm. We were literally the only people in there. Un phased we sat, chose our lobsters(1lb either grilled or steamed) and waited. We ordered some champagne(£50 for a bottle of Moët. Fairly priced for a restaurant we felt) and some cocktails which were lovely but took an absolute year to arrive. These almost took longer than the meal to prepare(about 25 mins) which considering we were the only people there and we only ordered two whole cocktails in total. Was probably a little too long to go about making a couple of drinks. Anyway, they arrived eventually and were lovely And were quickly followed by the food. Now let me tell you, a 1lb lobster is not a big lobster. I knew this and have a fairly small appetite so I was quite happy with what i received, however, other members of the party looked a little deflated. There isn’t that much meat on the crustacean, even if you pick it to death. However, a 2lb one would set you back £45 so it’s up to you. You do get unlimited fries and salad to fill you up. The fries are great, thinly cut and crispy. Not too salty and full of fresh flavour. The salad consisted of mainly lettuce leaves with a sprinkling of Parmesan and the odd croûton which was nice but it was a little soggy in places as though it had been sat around for a while. The lobster itself was lovely, I prefer mine grilled and it was very well cooked. They come topped with garlic butter which is my favourite thing to have with lobsters and most other things that come out of the sea so this was perfect for me. You can also opt for steak, we didn’t have the 10oz rib eye but if you opt for this again, unlimited fries and salad and a sauce of your choice. We ordered a couple of sides, garlic mushrooms and the steak bites. Both were brilliant, the steak bites(effectively a steak cooked rare and slice into bite size pieces) was beautifully cooked and a lovely lean cut of meat. The mushrooms were huge and fresh and again, coated in garlic butter. We ate and drank fairly extravagantly throughout the meal(more beers cocktails and champagne) and the bill only came to about £50 each which was great. We finished off 2014 with a good meal and lined our stomachs perfectly(not too heavy) for the night of New Years partying ahead. Decent place, would go back for an easy lobster, although we may opt for the next size up next time.

The restaurant is located in the Radisson Blu Hotel, offering either steak or lobster. If you’re a lover of either of these then this is a must visit for you! You get the option of either steak or lobster accompanied with a side of fries & salad priced at a reasonable £17! Each time I’ve been here the food has been great. You can have your lobster steamed or grilled. I’d personally recommend having it grilled, but that’s just me! And they’ll cook the steak whatever way you like, & for me it would have to be medium rare with the meat nice & pink. On the two occasions I came here the lobster & steak was cooked exactly how I liked it. And the best thing is, you get unlimited fries & salad so you’ll definitely get your moneys worth! Service was good & it’s a nice place to go to if you want to go somewhere where you can talk amongst yourselves.

I deeply regret going to this restaurant and here’s why. As myself and a friend entered the restaurant we had to wait a good 5 minutes(which is a long time considering there was no que) to be seated due to the staff who included a manager(who had all seen us enter) finishing their conversation at the bar area which was directly opposite the door. We were then seated in an extremely cramped area of the restaurant(where they had stuck 32 seater tables in a corner to which it could barely be contained. This meant that we could hear all of the conversations of those around usand meant that we had little to no privacy. The waitress took our order quickly. I ordered the grilled lobster and my friend the steak with the garlic sauce, to which we went half and half. The food arrived like 30 mins later. And wasn’t very warm. My plate was first of all wet which I dismissed as I was ravenous. The fries were amazing. Though the lobster as bland as could be. I also had to work to get really hard to crack the lobster(which was small) and scavenge for it’s meat. My friend who ordered the steak medium rare instead had a steak which was rather rare on the inside but burnt/crispy on the outside with visible scorch marks. The waitress asked how everything was to which we replied fine though asked for more fries. We had almost finished our food before the second batch of fries came which were a lot darker and less fluffy that the first batch due to being left in oil for too long. After finishing our meal we were left for 20 mins before the waitress took our plates. I then asked for the dessert menu which the waitress forgot to get until we she saw us later on when cleaning another empty table. She apologized. I then ordered the chocolate cheesecake. Which took about another 20 mins to come in which the mean time I asked the manager to update me in its progress. He seemed extremely reluctant to even talk to me and didn’t even stand to address me when I spoke to him. At this point I just wanted to go because I had been there for atleast 2 hours. Just as I was about to get the bill my dessert came. I enjoyed the texture and of the dessert but however, found it to be not very sweet which suited me fine as I don’t have that much if a sweet tooth. After eating that I asked for the bill. I then complained about the service to the manager. He was seemed unfazed by the poor service and acted like we were bothering him and trying to get out of paying. I just reassured him that if for nothing but his future customers he needs to do better. He then went away and came back with a new bill. Where he had taken off service charge(for what service) and the price of the cheese cake when leaving he didn’t even say goodbye despite standing at the door, being unpreoccupied and witnessing us leave. To top it all of 2 hours after arriving home I vomited due to an allergy to lobster I never knew I had(or so I think). All in all never again. EVER! — Made me as a customer feel unimportant and a bother.

Before going to Steak & Lobster, I had never actually had lobster before, so my choice was obvious. I used to be vegetarian, so although I always complained that there wasn’t many options for me to choose from, at least it was a quick process! As a reformed vegetarian(sober now, 3 years), tons of options on the menu makes for a loooooong meal selection, often with loud debates with myself. So(despite the fact I had chosen in advance) I appreciated the simplicity of the menu — steak, lobster or … something vegetarian, served with chips and salad, bot re-fillable :-D The lobster was good, served either steamed or grilled(dirty heathen that I am, I couldn’t taste the difference) I have it on good authority that the steak was good. For me(as it always is) the cocktails were the best bit. Average price and tasty. Overall, tasty… but not as amazing as I was led to believe! I’m glad I’ve finally tried it, but don’t feel the need to go back.

If I’m honest, I wasn’t expecting much from Steak & Lobster — being situated in a hotel instantly made me think of lobby music, beige, and bland hotel breakfasts. However, my friend and I can’t resist the idea of ‘bottomless’ fries and a big piece of steak. We both went for a steak; at £17, you get the meat(cooked to your liking), a small pot of sauce, then unlimited salad and fries. We also had a side of onion rings, because who can resist? The steak was a good portion size, cooked to my medium-rare specification, and I found myself really enjoying the salad — served with croutons and a generous dusting of parmesan cheese! I went for a stilton and red wine sauce which, doesn’t sound great, but tasted delicious and went really well with the rich steak. The fries were, naturally, great… and of course we said yes to a second helping. The onion rings were tasty, if a bit anemic in colour! The main thing I left thinking was that it was overall an expensive meal, especially when you add in the white wine, and they’ll have to do more to attract people from outside the hotel walls. Though perhaps they don’t need to.

Went quite a while ago — more than a year ago. I decided to go for a steak. I do like my steak! I was tempted to try the lobster but thought would regret not having the steak! Plus I think I only like lobster«Chinese style» with garlic and spring onions and noodles. The steak was OK. Didn’t look like a rib eye really. I have definitely had better steaks elsewhere! Thinking about it, probably every other steak I’ve had maybe better. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad, just other places are better. Of course this is based on 1 visit and it was busy so clearly popular. And it was quite a while since been so maybe things have changed. The steak came with a salad — just a simple salad — and unlimited chips. I found the chips too salty. Service from what I remember was good and it’s a nice looking restaurant — it is inside the Radisson hotel! Considering they only do 2 things, you’d think these 2 things would be amazing. I was with a couple other people, one had steak like me and the other the lobster. They ask if you want it steamed or grilled I think?(Whichever one he choose was apparently not the«right» one according to my brother — who I mention Steak & Lobster to after. Although it could be personal taste). Either way, you don’t get as much with the lobster and it’s more«fiddly» trying to get all the lobster meat and attacking the shell!

Located in the Radisson Blu hotel this modest, casual restaurant has a very simple menu — ribeye steak and lobster– your choice with fries and a salad for £15. We ate early *(pre-theatre) so had the place to ourselves. Service was good and they will even give you extra fries and salad if you want. A nice spot for something simple for dinner.
