After a long day in the office and with the sunshine still strong(during our crazy heat wave) we decided to head to this place to sit out on the terrace. We booked for 6 of us early on in the morning so we secured a nice booth in the sun. After first arriving we we’re sent to the bar as our table was being relayed — after standing there for sometime we tried to get the attention of one of the waiters and eventually we we’re taken to a table. However, after this minor hiccup the staff were very accommodating and gave us the very last table in the sun on request! We perused the menu and given it was a special occasion we went all out. Starting with some sharing flatbreads and humous whilst we decided on our order it was just the right nibble to share on a summers evening. For starters I opted for the scallops thermadore which arrived in the shells with some tasty spinach. The sauce was so light and tasty — again perfect for a hot evening! Fo the main I went for the rump steak which came with fries and a sauce of your choosing. It arrived perfectly cooked to my order and with my peppercorn sauce on the side. The fries were perhaps a little too on the skinny side to go with a steak but they were seasoned well. The sauce was about average — I am being slightly picky here but i would have preferred if it was more on the creamy side and lacked peppercorns! I also shared a side of broccoli with chilli and ginger — when it arrived it didn’t look like it was worth the £4 we paid for it but it was tasty and well-cooked. Too full to opt for a pud I taste tested some of my friends — the new york cheesecake was pretty average however the passionfruit crème brûlée was to die for! Overall the food was delicious — if you have money to burn and it’s a nice evening I would totally recommend this place however if you were sat inside I can see the atmosphere being very different!

Excellent food, so-so service This could have been five stars if only the wait staff had been even remotely more attentive. The ambience is very big city and the menu very modern so if you want somewhere to bring visitors to Manchester to impress them on our world city status(which will happen in a matter of years), this is the Restaurant to do it. Part of an exclusive chain, it’s always busy, with a fantastic evening scene with an outdoor terrace that, as far as I can tell, has been open year round since last summer!

I came here for drinks on Christmas Eve Eve and I must say it’s rather nice. Situated above Panacea on John Dalton St, I’ve always walked past and seen people out on the balcony, enjoying drinks and even a meal, until quite late in the evening. It must have been getting on for around 10pm when I arrived here — but the bar itself wasn’t very busy. We headed to the outside balcony area and ordered a drink with the barman. We were served immediately and the price wasn’t too bad for 2 drinks — a gin and tonic and my favourite Disaronno and coke. The patio /balcony area is nicely furnished and very cosy, and the heaters are so strong we were able to sit outside, without a coat! For Manchester, this is a very rare treat. I could see into the restaurant through the window, and from what I observed it looked really nice — I also took a glance at the menu on my way in and I would like to come back and try a meal here sometime. But for now, I was impressed by the bar experience alone. Cute place and nice company.

The restaurant bar and grill is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. They really look after you. The bar and restaurant are very stylish and they have a roof terrace which is lovely in the Summer. We went there last week and took advantage of their 15 pounds for 2 courses lunch menu. The French onion soup was delicious and I had a substantial portion of fish and chips for the money. The atmosphere was also nice and chilled.

I love the terrace here and the fact that you can watch the world passing by on John dalton street and most people don’t know they are being observed! Spent a very relaxed Sunday afternoon here(yes i know i love my Sunday lunches!) with my fav red wine n roast buddy just chatting and eating. Service was impeccable our waiter was very attentive but not in your face and did this delightful thing of backing away from the table once he had served us rather than turning his back on us. We had some complimentary breads and oils and then both opted for the beef, for which we were asked how we liked it cooking: answer rare as possible. Lunch came in a cast iron skillet(with a mini pan of rich beef gravy each) from which you served yourself on go your plate. The skillet did a good job of keeping the food warm if you didn’t serve it all in one go. Feeling pretty full after the main we went for coffees and a little tray of chocolate petit fours. So okay it’s not the cheapest place for Sunday lunch but we spent a pleasant 3 hours here watching the world go by with a nice lunch a bottle of red — can’t be bad.

When leaving a tip make sure you request that the tip actually goes to the waiter in full. I discovered this week that managers are taking a cut along with a cut going to the head chief to «top up» wages. Tips are also taken by the company and taxed with a percentage of the tips also being taken to pay for processing.

Sitting out on the terrace is a must. A great menu quite pricy but worth every penny. I usually go for the risotto washed down with a lovely chablis. Dessert trolley is great along with the option to use points with the club individual card.

I visited the Private Room in RBG along with Gabi S for my sister’s 30th birthday bash. She had asked me to decorate the room for her before the guests arrived in the afternoon. So I made her cupcakes in the morning and rang them to see what time I could go and set up and they said any time I was ready. A good start. Upon arrival we were greeted by a young lady with not much welcome. She quickly walked ahead of us whilst we were carrying balloons, cakes, cake stands etc. offering no help or small talk. She directed us to the room and then disappeared. We were left to do to the room as we pleased with no interference which meant we could have a good snoop at the good array of alcohol behind the bar. The room itself was very nice and spacious. However, my sis had previously sent through a table plan for three large tables. The table was very far apart and once all of the guests were sat down it was like we were strangers split over two rooms. Not the best setting for a get together. Whilst we were setting up the manager appeared — a very nice gentleman — and asked if everything was ok and offered us coffee, one point. So overall there were about 30 guests ranging from 10months to 81 years. The name cards for the table were not printed as promised by the member of staff who dealt with Emma’s booking, but were quickly put together… wrong. I ended up writing most of them out y hand myself. The drinks menu was fab — lots of cocktails and juices, long drinks and shots to choose from. And the(one) bar staff was very good at making his cocktails. Unfortunately most of the evening we had to go to the bar ourselves and wait for our drinks as the waiters were very scarce. And the lady with creased shirt was annoying Gabi so much it made me laugh! As Gabi said the lack of waiters was bad. My parents were receiving their starters as we were finishing our mains. This meant we couldn’t switch tables much to speak to one another because we were all never not eating at the same time! The food itself was very good. This makes me feel bad about giving it two stars. The chefs are obviously very talented but this talent was lost between the kitchen and the table. We did have a nice evening with good company but we could have had that anywhere. But to stick their fingers in the fabulous icing on the cupcakes we had made, they had added a huge(and I mean huge) amount of service charge onto the bill. Pops who is a very generous dad(he paid the bar bill!) refused to pay service charge on drinks we had to go to the bar to order, wait for and collect ourselves. Well done Dad! I would like to visit the actual restaurant itself and try the high quality food but I won;‘t be returning to the Private Room any time soon.

I recently attended a function in their Private Room and I have mixed feelings about the entire experience: 1) The room was immaculately set — brilliant. On the minus side, the organisers have not printed all name cards correctly(omitted some, printed some twice). 2) The bar staff were very knowledgeable about the drinks on offer and very quick to serve. 3) There were only 2 waiters for 30 people(3 tables), which was not brilliant at all. By the time people at the first table were enjoying their main course, people from the first table didn’t even get their starters. After bringing our food, the waiters disappeared, nowhere to be found. So, if you wanted a drink, you had to go to the bar. The waitress forgot to iron her shirt — it looked very untidy. 4) We had a set menu(with 3 options for every course). Vegetarians were not very spoilt, the only choice for main course being the… oh yes: mushroom risotto. On the plus side: you could order from the main menu, which one of my vegetarian friends did. She was very pleased with her choice 5) I was very happy with the dishes I chose, I enjoyed the food. 6) The view from the room is not the best in Manchester(facing Ridgefield), especially in winter time(very gloomy). Overall, I was disappointed, I felt very much let down by the experience… I will give it another go, definitely, but it wouldn’t be my first choice…

Despite the hideously post-modern name, The Restaurant is a decent little place to eat. The menu is varied enough to cater for all tastes and the portions are impressively big(although, not too big!). Having heard mixed reviews, I’ve found that my visit was most enjoyable and the service was great. The food is a little on the expensive side, so maybe bookmark this one for a treat rather than a regular outing(dependent on income, naturally). Some tables were quite dimly lit. That said, it did make my experience more intimate as I find nothing is worse than feeling like everyone is watching you while you eat. Downstairs is a cocktail bar and was a fine way to start the evening. Drinks are added to your food bill, so beware of throwing their very good cocktails down your neck too hastily. Overall, there’s a very pleasant evening to be had at The Restaurant and it’s close enough to the city centre should you wish to do anything after you’ve eaten.

Although it’s a rather sophisticated environment to dine in, I’ve never been tempted to eat here. The food looks great but to me but I wonder if it isn’t a little to conservative, especially for the price tag. Perhaps I’ll be proved wrong if I do eventually take the plunge… However, I have enjoyed a couple of tipples at the bar, where drinks are made to a very high standard by well trained bar staff. I had 3 if the same cocktail here, kim sha: finlandia vodka, raspberries, peach, passion fruit and pomegranate juice which I consider very worthy of the £7 price tag.

Restaurant Bar and Grill used to be my favourite restaurant when I was younger. But then again, so did Pizza Hut, back before I’d ever been to a real restaurant. Bar and Grill is the same kind of story, I used to love it but that was back when before I knew how much Manchester had to offer. OK so I’m probably being a little mean here, I mean it’s a perfectly good restaurant with nice food but it’s very ordinary and the prices are very high for an ordinary meal!!! I’ve not been in for a little while because Manchester has too much competition for a restaurant which has nothing special to offer. Saying that, I have no aversion to the place and if I was invited there for someone’s birthday or something, I would be quite happy to go. Although most people seem to be of the same thinking as me and would rather head to Grill on The Alley which is just across the street.

went to Manchester and had a lunchtime to spare before i met people for the evening. Went to Abode but walked out before ordering, went to find Le Petit Blanc but it had closed down. Ended up here and very glad I did. They knew the provenance of the beef and other items on the menu,(Beef, cooked blue, was a wonderful cut of fillet.) Nice bar area for a drink on the ground floor first, and definately somewhere for a celebration. Good service too.

Just been here for Mothers day, taking my wife and 10 weeks old baby. Staff really friendly very professional, had blowout lunch… champagne, cheese home made chocolates and coffee. Reminds me a little of New York, great service food was really fresh we sat upstairs with good views of homeless selling Big Issue. I would recommend this place for a cocktail with mates downstairs, and a dinner for special occasions upstairs, risotto was tasty not too heavy, and good cheeseboard. Not a place for everyday eating but if your Auntie is celebrating her 10th successful year of managing with a colostomy bag and no husband, THISISTHEPLACEINCENTRALMANCHESTER! I have been to the same in Leeds centre(old Post Office near station and had great food 2 years ago) so small chain is pretty consistent. Def.(abbreviation nothing to do with Morales) and will be back as overall good experience as long as you don’t turn up in pantomime horse costume.

The most amazing place. The bar downstairs is staffed with brilliant bartenders and waiter/tresses who are efficient and friendly, and serve delicious cocktails and a great range of wine and beer. The food in the glam upstairs restaurant is tasty and varied. Discreet and speedy service aids your enjoyment. The price isn’t cheap, but actually isn’t that much more expensive than other places course for course. We love the dessert and starter taster platters, and the specials always have something interesting and yummy. It’s a bit of a dress up place which is nice, jeans are acceptable though.

mmmmmmm the food in here is simply delicious, this makes it one of the more expensive restaurants in Manchester but worth every penny in my opinion. I have been a couple of times on special occasions and never been disappointed with the food, wine selection or service. It gets very busy in here so be prepared to book well in advance and have to wait at the bar for 10 – 20 minutes when you arrive.

A fancy restaurant which is great for special occassions. The food is superb and the staff are always friendly. There is a bar area on the ground floor which is always busy but has a nice atmosphere. Drinks are a little pricey but it is an upmarket place.
