I used to hate this place as I once had the worst potato in the universe. It was cold, soily and came with a salad that your mum might have given you in the 90’s. Today, I’m having juice, a ploughmans, a Mocha and sunshine. Sitting out on Beech road is a joy. I’m keen to try the coffee, as my hope is that it’s not just all mundane produce wrapped in cool. because this place really could be awesome! Update: So I’ve had the food and drink! We went halves on a chili jam and goats cheese bagel, and a ploughmans on spelt. The ploughmans was dry as a bone, the bread massively out weighing the cheese and pickles which would have been tiny at any rate. Not great at all. The flavours of the cheese and pickles were great, there was just almost none of it. In total contrast the bagel was frickin awesome, gooey flavourful cheese on a perfect bagel, cut amazingly with bright chili jam. Just killer! They both had the same salad, which is pictured. Beautifully prepared with a nice twisty orange, sweet beetroot and carrots. Again though it’s let down a bit by the fact that it’s just dressed in warm oil. Took the beauty right out of it and missed an opportunity for something sharp to make it beautiful. I think these guys are on to something cool here, and there are moments of sheer joy, but someone’s more interested in the image than the food.

WHAT A BELTER!!! First time I saw this place it was closed, 2nd time it was closed, 3rd time I planned ahead and knew it would be open on a Monday afternoon! So I grabbed my favourite adopted big sister and drove the few miles across Manchester to the magical place that is Chorlton. As soon as we walked up the step to this amazing little gem we both were smiling! It reminded me of Oklahoma in Manchester city centre, except on a much smaller scale and a tad nicer! ;) Goat’s cheese and chilli jam bagel? Ohhh yes. And service? Amazing. Within 5 seconds of being on the premises we were pleasantly greeted, 3 minutes later we had ordered, within 5 minutes we had our drinks and food in front of us. 10 minutes later al gone. Amazing, fabulous food, fabulous coffee, fabulous setting, fabulous everything! Next time we will try some cake…

tea + cake + soul = heaven??? cute décor, nice staff, great music, and again, the cake… the only bummer is it’s rather small, so unfortunately i can’t put down a cot and camp out for ever and ever.

On a lazy Sunday, following our awesome first Unilocal Breakfast Club, I decided to walk off my French toast and churros with an amble round the south suburbs. Through Didsbury I roamed, alongside the bleakly beautiful Southern Cemetery(inspiration for a Smiths song, don’t you know), and I came to Chorlton’s Beech Road. I had every intention of sitting down with a hot beverage and my laptop, so I needed a pleasant atmosphere and some wifi. I found it in the as yet unYelped On The Corner. But oh, I found so much more. Quirky, vintage, mismatched and lovely, pastel colours and oh… what’s this? Vinyl for sale? Surely it can’t get much better than this. Oh wait, it can. When I asked about the bathrooms, the wonderfully friendly ladies there told me it was fine to use the staff loo in the back. I had a zingy awesome smoothie and a lovely pot of peppermint tea served in fancy vintage china. The tunes were spiffing, the experience was warm and wonderful, and I walked away with a Bob Marley record for a mere £6. I’ll certainly be back on that Corner next time I’m in Chorlton!

On The Corner-Its really made Beech Road feel alive again, I love the atmosphere that you manage to create Steph-that’s something rare to find in a café, and it’s what keeps people coming back… good luck for the future!

fab atmosphere. Love the record player spinning top tunes in the corner. The savoury tart is so delicious. Best pasty i think i’ve ever tasted, crumbly, heavenly. I’ll be bobbing in lots i suspect.
