An institution in Manchester. It’s changed hands at least three times since it first opened and has perhaps lost some of its’ identity in the process. At one time it was THE after hours bar on an early Sunday morning. It is a pre-​requisite for newbies to the Village.
My main criticism would be that you tend to get far too many scallies in there these days, and there are quite a lot more straight than gay people that frequent the place, even though it is suppossed to be a gay bar!
The best night is currently Thursday night. You can get a vodka and coke and a few other drinks for 90p!!!

This is one ofthe longest-​serving gay bars in manchester. A large bar inside Manto is open from mid-​day til midnight, til 2 am on Friday and til 3am on Saturday.
A great atmosphere and fantastic staff I would recommend this bar to everyone gay/​straight or bysexual. This place is also bookable for private parties and has a good sized pool table and a third floor which opens on Fridays and Saturdays.

Manto recently came under new management and a new, stricter, smarter dress code has been introduced meaning now trainers or trackies are allowed at any time. The drinks offers are still very good value for money and the roof terrace is pretty much unique to Canal Street — always good for people spotting!

Manto’s is a gay bar, frequented by a good range of clientele. During the day pretty much everything is cheaper to drink, bottles of wine from £6, 2 alcopops for £3, offers like that. It has a nice airy upstairs seated area, and a roof terrace that looks out onto the canal.
