Probably the most interesting cocktails I have ever had. The venue itself is lovely and relaxed with incense burning, I struggled to keep my eyes open! Staff are amazing and somehow managed to remember every order even without writing anything down. Highlights for me were the Wonderland cocktail(free scone!) and the Forget me not which comes with its own mini Prosecco!

2nd time here the cocktails are to die for and the staff are really pleasant. Before our drinks arrived we were brought some nibbles and a glass of water while we decided which cocktail. The atmosphere is chilled. I would recommend this bar if you fancy a nice cocktail.

This place is quite easy to miss, I found it because I was invited to a party in the bar downstairs. The décor was rather plush and there was plenty of room. However upstairs was smaller and packed out — it was a Saturday night so this is to be expected. They sell a range of cocktails and wines and I’d definitely go back for a private function.

I waited so long before I headed into Elixar having walked past it twice a day going to and from work! It has a lovely aroma coming from the front door which is a strong incense luring you in! Eventually stepping over the threshold one Saturday afternoon I gave the lovelace cocktail a whirl. Served in a champagne saucer the fruity number comes complete with a shot of fizzy and an edible lace decoration floating on the top. The whole package that makes Elixar so different is the way the cocktails are served. Whilst in there I noted a hen party beginning their night with a round of birdcage cocktails with the drinks fitted around a large birdcage with the obligatory sparkler! Don’t get me wrong the cocktails looked and tasted great but i’m not completely convinced about the price tag £££!

Absolutely loved it here. Before we ordered our cocktails the bar tender asked our party what we all liked in a drink, !then said leave it with me. Wow they were to die for .also all our cocktails came with chocolates & Treats… We even tried the famous birdcage of cocktails Amazing… never been anywhere like this before. Returning soon..

I’d been meaning to come here basically since it opened but never managed. I had the impression it was a bit tacky inside(white leather or something) but it’s darker, more comfortable and more spacious than I expected. We were about 50⁄50 on the cocktails. I liked the lovelace martini which was a tarter and more sophisticated version of the pornstar martini. The hermet I would also highly recommend, it’s a heavier cocktail which is basically like delicious alcoholic marmalade. Le chat noir was a bit sweet for both of us and the other cocktail of which I unfortunately cannot remember the name(maybe Apollo’s Daiquiri) was too lemony and somewhat chemical in taste. We enjoyed the sauvignon blanc(surprise). The large glasses are just that. Overall I’d be 3.5 on the actual drinks because they are a bit variable but the prompt service and nice atmosphere would encourage me to return. Also it’s always a plus to see a lot of creative cocktails on the menu. We chatted to the barman on departure whose interest in the cocktail scene in Manchester(he’s a newcomer) I think reflected on the general commitment of this bar to be a serious player. He recommended the Tonique No 5, which I will get first next time!

I had a couple of friends down from Scotland for a visit, and I wanted to show them how much variety Manchester has to offer — this was by far their favourite! We arrived about 8pm on a Saturday night, and were pleasantly surprised to see it busy but not completely rammed full. Winner! At 34 I’m the youngest of our group, we like a different«atmosphere» now than we did in our early twenties… Drinks are a bit pricey but good value for money — you don’t just pay for the booze, but for the showmanship and theatre(and for some little extra treats too!). We tried a number of cocktails between us — Elixir of love went down a treat with my gin-loving friend Faye, she loved the rose flavouring of the cocktail, and the drama of the dry ice! I had the salted caramel based C’Est BonBon, which came with a blowtorched creamy topping, and a little bag of bon bons. Delicious, and with a fair bit of salt to take the edge off the sweetness. We also tried the super-sweet and creamy burlesque mess, an off-menu espresso martini, and some gin and tonics too. All beautifully served, with sparklers ahoy going off around us on the many birdcages which we saw being served. All in all, a beautiful bar, excellent service and fabulous drinks. Perfect for wowing non-city friends!

Elixir is a little gem on Deansgate, a little garden poking out of a fairly ugly building smack between two bookies and a chicken shop. It seems a little out of place with its funky décor, which is all part of it charm. So, after concluding that Elixir is charming let talk about the reason I am there — cocktails! You will not see any of the classic on the menu but I hope they will mixed them if you ask. So I have worked my way few quite a few drink on the menu I have come to a conclusion. Elixer cocktails are nice, but not mind blowing and at around £10 a pop I want my mind blown. Which I hate to say as I really want this place to amaze me, but it doesn’t hold it own in a city of cocktail bars. Though that aside Elixir will have me coming back when I am drink in that side of town as it is an enjoyable time.

One of the best cocktail menus in Manchester… my pictures dont do it justice. I was in the Parisian Underground bar(the basement of Elixir) for a private function and the lighting in there isn’t good for my shoddy iPhone camera. I had Ramble in the Bramble… large crushed ice drink adorned with an adorable Chambord mini, blackberry & jelly cube. 2nd drink was the Salted Caramel vodka cocktail, topped with a salted caramel foam which was blow torched to be a soft meringue style topping… on the side were 3 toffee bon bons in a cute organza bag — this was all served on a slate tray. 3rd cocktail I cannot remember the name of! Embarrassing but I was a wee bit tiddly by this point… Violet Something I will call it. A small fishbowl over spilling with dry ice — the delicious parma violet reminiscent(but sharp) cocktail is safely contained within a stemless martini glass within the bowl. Felt a bit embarrassed carrying it away from the bar(people were staring). All of the cocktails are very ‘showy’ here, but honestly they taste amazing. Prices are £8 to £9.50 — the quality & unique nature of the cocktails meant I didn’t mind paying that pound or so extra(would actually say they are reasonable for what you are given) I would highly recommend this place. The only reason I didn’t go for the full 5 star review is the music in this place: its just not fitting with the atmosphere. Both times I have been in, they seem to be playing house dance hits… the DJ needs to rethink the feel of the place and play fitting tracks.

We started off with Elixir and this was a five star experience! My friend who had travelled from London said the lovelace martini was the best cocktail she had ever had. The table service was excellent and we got complimentary nibbles too, that were very good. Eight cocktails and 2 hrs later we walked out in high spirits(no pun intended)! Well done and keep it up!

Oh my. I loved it here. I only had cocktails so I can only talk about them. They were great I really enjoyed them. They really know there stuff and they have some intresting ideas. Nice use of dry ice. I like the way it adds drama to the what is really just a cocktail. I want to go in again and try more cocktails. The loos were nice and clean too.
