They have changed their name to ‘Gelato Passion’ and are offering now only ice cream and warm desserts. I came here because I was craving for Italian ice cream and I must say it tasted delicious. The ice cream contains whole, fresh, real fruit from selected farms(written on their menu). Italian ice cream is lower in fat than most ice creams but still tastes super creamy. Lots of choice(approx. 25 yummy flavours!): I chose Ferrero and Oreo cookie and both were divine! Big scoops, great price(1 scoop £1.25) but unfortunately I had to wait approx. 10 min for my 2 scoops of ice creAm since they don’t hand it to you straight away. Location: Rusholme. Very multicultural, and can be super busy after 7 pm

It’s not much of a life you’re living…(if you haven’t been to the curry mile) It’s not something you take(for granted) its(a) given… Round and round and round we go(always back to rusholme) oh now tell me now, tell me now, tell me now you know(ok ok you don’t know yet but I’m about to tell you. About charcoal chicken that is) Once upon a recent time I found myself, as you do, driving down Wilmslow road on a global warming sponsored chilly April evening. The curry mile was typically bustling with activity and general merriment when I noticed a strange windmill like contraption in a shiny establishment which looked unfamiliar. So inevitably I decided to park up and investigate. A quick investigation via a Q&A with a very receptive manager and I’m here to report my findings to all Unilocaling comrades. Charcoal chicken is a brand new steak house that’s been open for just under a month. Open 7 days from 11:30am-late this establishment caters for all your roaring carnivorous needs. It’s difficult to slide this establishment into any one international cuisine, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. The flame grilled category suggests a Portuguese(nandos style) vibe, but a flick of the page later and the menu reveals a fried chicken option avec une award winning twist. I was excitedly told that the chicken wings come in seven(yes seven!!) delicious and unique flavours.(Namely piri piri/Frank’s hot buffalo/sweet chilli/lemon&herb/Caribbean jerk/sweet BBQ/blazin hot) Excited but somewhat perplexed my inability to define the establishment wasn’t helped by the next page of the menu which revealed a traditional Indian option(a nice variety of curries as well as some good biryani options) By now I had realised this was one of the new breed of eateries which attempt the jack of all trades approach. So the fact that they also serve anything from tuna salad and home made lasagne to keema naans was no surprise. But what about the steak house, after all that’s what it’s called right? Well as it happens I’ve saved the best to last. The T-bone steak which is served with the usual(vegs/mashed tatoes/gravy) is a reasonable £12.90, and I’m told well textured. While I didn’t have the pleasure of trying the steak house yet(I’ve window shopped a lamb steak for later) my flamed spicy chicken burger was delightful! With a healthy dessert menu this polished new foodie heaven just makes the curry mile another dimension. The area appears to be evolving at an alarming rate which I find exhilarating. The diversity of cuisine on offer is just fantastic, might not be long before the popular name«curry mile» may have to change. It’s too simplistic and offensive to anyone with a modicum of understanding of the immense diversity of cuisine in offer. The name has often prompts one to smile politely and nod in a way Sheldon Cooper would do at Penny’s less than intelligent remark. A brand new interior and plenty of room(not exactly sure on number of covers, as didn’t venture upstairs) means Charcoal chicken, just about falls into the restaurant category. It’s not the nicest in Rusholme but one well worth visiting. Just be warned you may well come away with enough protein consumption to last a week. So go check it out! Charcoal chicken is calling out to you for a visit and once you’re there, they’ll probably want you to,(like rihanna) Stayyyyyyyyyyyyy.
