I came here whilst my car was being repaired, and after a long 2 mile walk treated myself to a large breakfast and coke(well deserved) went down a treat eggs was spot on(not burst or anything) despite it still being reasonably busy for the time, my food was on my table in about 10 minutes, after I finished the waitress politely asked if I’d finish and could she take my plate away. Toilets were clean. Would give it 5 stars, if they had toilets on the ground floor, I know it’s picky but going to the toilet can become a mission if you have a toddler who instance in walking. Picky I know, but part from that awesome place for breakfast.

Yes, it’s a ‘Spoons. No I wouldn’t ordinarily choose a ‘Spoons over an indie pub or brew tap but to be fair to the chain they aren’t the stuck-in-their-ways sort of business any longer. After a few colleagues and I had spent the day volunteering on an urban farm in Eccles, we needed some grub and a drink to replenish our faltering reserves. As we were in a complete black hole for food options(we wanted to avoid the Trafford Centre at all costs), someone suggested Castle in the Air. I was sold on its whimsical name, not realising at the time its association with the company which owns over 1,000 outlets. A very large pub attached to Chill Factore, it was warm, well lit and rather pleasant inside. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We all ordered hearty meals(I can say their chicken and avocado wrap was rather good — it came with a drink included). They were suffering from IT issues when we were there but the manager told us that you’d soon be able to use Apple Pay here(where you hold your iPhone near the contactless reader). Hark! They’re at the cutting edge — to order and pay for your wares without ever leaving your seat. A couch potato’s dream. Beer selection was ok too — Sharp’s Doom Bar and Devils Backbone both went down a treat.

I know it’d be harsh to judge Manchester pubs on a single Wetherspoons affiliate in Trafford, but damn, this is pretty bleak. First off, it’s a unit at Chill Factore. There’s nothing to really distinguish it as a pub, it could be just any unit at a shopping centre. If half the floor space was devoted to selling CDs or winter jackets, I wouldn’t have been too surprised. The pub itself has the atmosphere of a space station airlock. No music, a few people drifting about, a sort of silence that made you wonder if you’d stumbled into a very poorly attended funeral. The staff at least were nice, and the food and drink cheap. It’s the sort of place you’d be bored to tears in. Which is a pity, because those tears wouldn’t even be falling into a very good pint.

It’s clearly meant to be a hip place to go and it has nice décor and a friendly atmosphere but… it’s honestly too big for the amount of people that visit the place. Like other Wetherspoon pubs and restaurants, it’s designed BIG and I think this can take away from the pub atmosphere. The drinks are cheap/fairly priced and the food is too but I’ve not had chance to sample that. I’ve re-added this business because the map directions are incorrect. Sorry if I’ve been a pain!

this is a great place to relax and to meet friends. Its very spacious and there is lots of outdoor seating which is lovely in the good weather to sip a coffee or a glass of wine. It has a good selection of drinks and the staff are very nice. Its not very busy which is a plus point I think.
