Camel One sounds like an awesome name for a space shuttle. Instead it’s a takeaway. A fairly decent takeaway, that catches the latecomers to the mile with kebabs and curries, but doesn’t really do anything special in my eyes. Still, it’s an alright choice I suppose, though you can get better for around the same price. It’s kind of hard to justify going to some of these places when there’s literally no reason not to go to places like Caspian or Kebabish for the same price. Personal choice? I guess that’ll work.

Camel One. No camels. Not even one. Once you’re over this gross disappointment you can get a decent kebab, chips, some pakoras and some tasty bhajis. You can eat these and feel satisfied. But you’ll have to text round all your mates and say you were lying in the text you just sent them all, saying you were eating camel, or eating kebabs cooked by camels, or sharing your kebab with a camel. This could be embarrassing, and they will think you are less cool than they did five minutes ago. Depending on your previous rep, you may be able to retain them as friends. They also do curries, which some friends of mine are always getting as they live nearby. They are always raving about them, but I thought my sample was average. Still, I do think that here, and in general in this area, the take-away curries from the kebab shops are actually nicer on average than the sit-in restaurants. So ultimately its probably one of the better options for a take-away curry. In that sense it curries favour with me. So I’ll curry on going there. Still, no camels.

What a name 5 stars right there, or not. Can’t be arsed for a sit down meal on the mile, then head here. Camel one does some great curries prepped in front of you in décor that can leave you wanting. But that’s not why your here, you’ve got to be somewhere or don’t have the time to sit. So you stand and wait 4 minutes and have your curry in a box. Two thumbs up… for under a fiver.

Camel One will undoubtedly be open when you want it to be, it bags its customers ambling along the ‘Curry Mile’ this way. Opening late. You know its cool– like that character in Almost Famous ‘I stay up late’. No nonsense, standard kebabs and curries here for a couple of your hard earned pounds. And although for the majority of people there is nothing special at Camel One, they serve up an amazing Mango Lassi too. A reliable take out that will come to your rescue.

Great curries at good prices. If you don’t want the fuss, time, and expense of going to a proper indian restaurant but still want some really nice food then this is the place to come. It’s got the added bonus of usually being the first place to open and the last place to close on «the mile» — indeed does it actually close? ever? As for the kebabs they’re still very good… but… the bread isn’t as good as at Caspians(a few hundred metres north) and the meat not quite up to scratch compared with Al Quds(a few hundred metres south).

Camel One is located on Wimslow road in manchester, and serves some good tradional indian food. Inside the décor is a lot to be desired, however they concentrate on what they are good at, and that making good food! The chicken is amazing, and portions are more than surfice. i would go as far to say this is one of the best place to eat on wilmslow road, and we are talking a mile of place to choose from, this would get my vote every time.
