I almost feel bad giving Bierkeller 3 star because I do like this place and go quite a lot but in comparison with other places that I’ve rated 4 stars I just can’t justify it! It’s a little bit of a confusing layout because this place contains four bars under one roof, when you first go in your in what they call the ‘Ski Lodge’ which is the upstairs bar, when you go downstairs you have ‘Shooters’, ‘Around the World in 80 Beers’ and Bierkeller. Bierkeller is a massive room with long, wooden tables representing the German beer house, they sell steins which are really reasonably priced. I would tell you about the deals but I am really confused by them! There are posters all over telling you what deals are on but there are so many it just confuses you(well it confuses me anyway!)! We ordered food using my friends taste card which meant we paid £15 for four meals! Bargain, the food is pretty average but I got a Bratwurst which was really good. Don’t have high expectations for the food but it you want some filling grub really cheap it is a good place to go. ‘Shooters’ has a cool bar area where you can play FIFA on giant screens, just make a deposit at the bar and they will give you the controllers. There are also pool tables and it is a great place to watch the football. ‘Around the World in 80 Beers’ do what they call suitcases of beers, you can either get a full suitcase(£70) or a half suitcase(£35) which hold a selection of beers from around the world, it is a really great way to try new beers. This place is cheap and cheerful and the staff are really friendly, if you want a nice night out sampling the independents then this certainly isn’t the place to go, but for a chilled night with your mates, playing FIFA and drinking cheap booze this is place will be a good starting point.

Hey now printworks?! I hear you cry. But WAIT! What is NOT to like about a Bavarian themed bar that has bratwurst and great haus beer on tap? Well if you don’t like themed bars… this isn’t the place for you! Bierkeller is a massive complex within the controversial Printworks in Manchester. Its a great place for a rowdy night out or for a game of pool or two in the shooters bar which is part of the complex. I’ve come here both for rowdy Bavarian beer band gigs in the main hall(steins compulsory) and quieter weeknights for pool and some food in Shooters or Around the world in 80 beers. Its a great place to chill if you’re not sure where to go or if you want a cheap pint and food. They have tons of food deals on with loads of dishes only £5 if you order before 5 and also a happy hour on Thursdays where you can get 2 for 1 on Steins! Meaning you can have 4 pints for the price of around £7.50… now that is lethal! All in all I like this place, its different and there isn’t anywhere like it in Manchester-happy customers here.

While not bad, it is definitely a drinking venue rather than a food venue. Had a kangaroo burger with the hope of trying something new, was smaller than the bun by a mile and very flat, tasted ok but was pretty disappointing tbh considering most burgers you get in town are at least a good size. The beer is ok, the 80beers thing is pretty cool tbh so can’t moan too much there, plastic steins bother me a little though considering the hefty £4 deposit on them :/ Screens are fun and the bench seating can be a hoot, only drink in that room if you are comfortable in big groups and don’t mind joining in a lot and having zero personal space of boundaries ;( All in all, it’s better than tiger tiger, it’s about on par with hard rock but with a lot more space so if you’re destined for a printworks night out, this is probably the place to go!

Huge venue in the Printworks selling large quantities of generic beer. Apparently, the deal is that between 5 and 9 each evening you can get 2 steins of lager(2 pints in each) for £7.20. I ordered some food. What a disappointment! Curry Wurst and fries. Nothing like a curry wurst you order in Germany. More like shrivelled up shavings of sausage and a handful of frozen chips. I’m visiting this place for one reason only, because it’s close to my work place for after work drinks. Other than that, I’d avoid like the plague!
