The wine jukebox is awesome! There are 8 whites and 8 reds in the jukebox of varying prices, the ones on the right tended to be more expensive than the left. You obtain a card which you top up and then use on the machine; the amount is displayed. You then select which wine you wish to try, each wine can be dispensed at 3 different amounts: a taster amount, a medium glass and a larger glass. Pressing the button for the amount you want will then display the cost, press the button again to confirm, just remember to position the glass under the faucet before you press the button a second time, or you will be left with wine on the floor! The jukebox allows you to try a wine without committing to a glass or a bottle. Bakerie is currently running a Wine Wednesdays offer where they will double your credit on a wine card, so I advise you get down to visit soon! You can use the card at any time, so it’s worth getting the credit in advance if you’re not thinking about drinking on a Wednesday.

Warm atmosphere with modern wooden interior. Bakerie is a very good alternative to the numerous Burger, Indian or Italian restaurants in Manchester. They serve for example cheese, vegan or fish plates, accompanied with a delicious selection of bread(hard to find in the city!), and they have also other things on the menu, i.e. pasta. They also have good wine and have a wine juke box allowing you to try a lot of different wines :)

Bakerie is my place to go in the NQ. Be it after work for a cheeky wine, Wine Wednesday or even a Sunday for the Sunday Roast board. It’s a great place to go and I rarely struggle for a table, but even on the bar stools it’s quite comfortable. When you’re stuck on wine choices the staff are ready to help and the juke box is great fun to use! And if you’re not in a wine mood the beer selection is wonderful too. The music is never too loud, the atmosphere is really good and just generally very laid back. Well worth a visit.

My first visit to Bakerie was as part of World of Wine month, where I visited with a bunch of other Unilocalers and Elites to sample the delicious food and wine they have on offer. I just had to go back. This time, my girlfriend and I called in on a Thursday evening for some food and wine. We didn’t book ahead, just rocked up at the door and were seated almost immediately despite it being packed. Off to a cracking start. I’d let the cat out of the bag earlier in the day that we were going to Bakerie, so both the lady and I had spent a fair bit of time scouring the menu deciding on what we were going to order. We finally settled on two of the Bakerie boards: one charcuterie board, and a cheese board. For each of these, you get to choose 3 meats and cheeses from a larger selection as well as a matched condiment and a selection of bread baked on site. For our boards, we went for the chorizo, venison and red wine salami and duck and szechuan pepper salami on the charcuterie board, and tallegio, truffle noir and honey bee goats cheese on the cheese board. On the wine front, we intended to take advantage of the Wine Jukebox but as there was a very large group sat right up against the machine it seemed somewhat unlikely we’d get anywhere near it if we asked, so instead we just ordered from the regular list. I revisited my favourite red from the Elite event, the Fantini Sangiovese, whilst my girlfriend opted for the Il Carretto. Whilst the boards didn’t look like a great deal of food on arrival, we were actually both surprisingly full by the time we’d finished them so unfortunately we didn’t get to try desserts. The waiting staff were a little slow at getting round to us once we’d finished and wanted the bill, but on a pretty busy evening it could have been worse as I didn’t see that many staff wandering around. I think the lady covering our table also got slightly distracted by a gent on the table next to us spilling red wine everywhere. I’ll definitely be back again. Nice one Bakerie!

I popped into Bakerie yesterday evening to waste some time and grab some food before my beauty appointment down the road. They were very accommodating for a single person and made sure I was looked after and not forgotten about. I ordered the Gnocchi with Mediterranean vegetables which was a really good dish. I like Bakerie and the atmosphere it has. It’s definitely homely and has some really good options on their menu.

One of my favourite ‘hangouts’ in the NQ. Good relaxed atmosphere & a large selection of fine wine & cheese boards. Let me say the cheese boards are epic ! Not cheap but worth it! Me & my friend went for Sunday dinner this time. To be honest a bit disappointing, if you look at the photo it’s difficult to eat.(photo 1) We requested an extra plate to spoon it on too. It took just under an hour for the food to get to us & the waiter service was slow. The meat was good and well seasoned. The roast dinner overall I thought was expensive £26& they charge you for each individual item. I wouldn’t recommend for Sunday lunch. Go mid week(not as busy) order some wine & the cheese board this is what they do best !

The Sunday roast is outstanding. I came with a couple of friends after a long discussion about where to go for a roast. Then someone suggested Bakerie as they do a tapas style Sunday roast. This turned out to be perfect. As a basic you’re given roast potatoes and a big Yorkshire. Then you choose 3 items from a list of roast beef, chicken, pork, apricot and walnut roast, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower cheese and parsnips. Difficult decision time… I went for pork as the beef is served in a very thinly sliced style so can’t be served pink(according to the waitress). I also got parsnips and cauliflower cheese. Then a bit of apple sauce and red wine gravy to pull it all together. You choose between red wine, minted or veggie gravy or apple sauce. I asked for a little apple and a little gravy please? Got plenty of both. My friends got the chicken and the apricot and walnut roast options. The entire meal was cooked to perfection and my friends and I congratulated ourselves on making the choice to come here for our roast. We decided to have the 2 course option as it made the dessert only £2.50 extra. It would have been churlish not to. One of my friends got a gluten and dairy free almond cake thing that was super moist and tasty. My other friend and I got the boozy millionaires shortbread with rum in it. This was really tasty with dense dark chocolate that felt extra decadent. It was a little smaller and flatter than I’d hoped for though. The almond cake definitely won the dessert round. Which made my gluten intolerant friend very happy as she doesn’t usually get to ‘win’ at dessert! I will obviously be coming back. Probably on a Sunday but I’d be happy to try the cheese or seafood boards too if it’s on a weekday.

Im a huge fan of the Bakerie! There is a really nice chilled out atmosphere and the selection of food and drinks is great! Foodwise they only have a small selection of main dishes but also have a number of great value tapas still boards(meat, vegetarian, cheese and seafood) each served with a huge basket of housemade breads! I love the meat and the cheese ones! The waiters are also really friendly and accomodating! Drinkswise theres a great selection of cocktails and a big selection of great wines by the glass! Theres some brilliant midweek offers here with plenty of wine on flow so if your someone who can juggle a winehead hangover with a pile of work the next morning then definitely check them out!

i have been to the Bakerie so many times and still not bored of it! cant believe i haven’t written a review yet! it’s an ideal place if you want a kind of tapas dinner with some drinks and not spend too much! they have a good selection of ales, wines and nice cockails! my favourite for food is their quality boards(cheese /meat)! they are yumy and quite feeding! they come with a very nice selection of homemade breads(something quite rare for restaurants of this price but well it is called Bakerie)! I also had the opportunity to try their sunday roast that is nice! it comes served as tapas, which is not the most practical way to eat a roast! would definitely recommend it if you are looking for an affordable dinner in the NQ!

Bakerie is one of my favourite places in Manchester without a shadow of a doubt. Located just off Stevenson Square it is the perfect retreat to enjoy a bottle of wine with friends over some incredible food. They do a great ‘fizz friday’ offer and their chicken and chorizo stew is simply out of this world. Huge chunks of chicken and spicy chorizo sausage in a thick, rich tomato sauce with beans and veggies served with your choice of their fresh bread. Just divine and something I order every time I visit. The atmosphere is laid back, the music not too loud and the staff attentive without being overly so. Perfect for after work drinks or meeting a friend for a good old gossip, just what the doctor ordered. Make sure you try the verdejo… beautiful.

The Bakerie is one of my favourite bars in the Northern Quarter. The bar has a really nice relaxed vibe and you can normally get a table so you can sit down and savour a delicious glass of wine. The wine at the Bakerie is very good and I like the idea of the wine jukebox as you can try a selection of different wines before you buy. The quality of the food is also high. I love their cheese board and the bread that accompanies it is so fresh and tasty. A great sophisticated Manchester bar.

Bakerie was really excellent on a busy Saturday night. We turned up quite early(just after 6pm) but weren’t surprised to find not tables available, although the helpful hostess did go to check. She obviously mentioned it to someone I think was the manager, because he came over shortly afterwards saying they had a table available for the next 1h30. Meanwhile we’d been charmed by the friendly barman(who later was concerned enough about our wine to put it on ice while we finished our pre-dinner drinks) and I’d been gazing at the enomatic, so all was going well. Our waitress was also extremely nice and suggested the special they had on which was two sharing platters and a bottle of wine for £25 — amazing value! This is their January offer, which unlike most places is available 7 nights a week. We had a seafood platter and a cheese platter. Highlights for me were the well ripened Brie and the DELICIOUS fennel & green olive tapenade, I must have more of that immediately, although I think if I went back I might also try something I couldn’t do myself — they have a really appealing range of warming stews, curries and chilli. It’s nice the menu is a bit different. Since our great Unilocal event here last February I have been frequently recommending Bakerie to people and now having finally been back again myself I’m glad to see it maintaining such a high standard.

After considering a few options in the Northern Quarter we picked Bakerie. A place I’ve visited a few times for drinks and I’ve yet to be disappointed. This was my first visit for a meal. Of course, being a mid-week day and fairly late on we’d not anticipated how busy it was. Xmas doo season. Crikey. We probably should have booked. Luckily despite the busyness, they managed to fit the two of us in. No problem. Phew. They’ve a good selection of ales at the bar and there was no problem starting a tab for the table, whilst we warmed up from the weather telling us that Winter had most certainly arrived. The atmosphere has always been about right in here. There is music. But it knows its place. And even with it being xmas party season, it’s not in your face, and easy to talk over. There’s a choice of areas to sit. Seats near the bar, and sofa style seating around the wine juke box! A pretty unique feature of any bar /restaurant in Manchester — just pay by the glass! With a late evening start to our meal I may of had a sneaky snack before I turned up, but I was still very tempted by my companion’s starter of mushroom fuondou, which was a varied selection of mushrooms in a creamy sauce, and Bakerie bread to dip. I had a deceptively substantial chicken and chorizo stew, with a massive wedge of bread. You could choose what type of Bakerie bread you wanted from a selection of 6 or so. Sadly, I was soo stuffed I only got to have a small amount of the bread, but found the stew really tasty. The menu catered well for vegetarians and pescatarians also. Baked aubergine, soups with fresh bread, and a couple of other stews. Even with it being busy the service was attentive & appropiate. This a good place to come wether there’s is a group of you, or just two. And judging by the number of xmas parties enjoying themselves it’s great for a works xmas doo also. With it being in the Northern Quarter you can have a meal, and have a choice from a great array of pubs and bars to meet up in before or go to afterwards.

I’ve been here a few times now, and I’ve yet to be disappointed… When I’m out with my side kick and gang we can be very indecisive… that indecisiveness is what led us here. This is literally as hot as a bakers oven. I stepped in here last night from the cold in my winters coat, I must have stripped it off faster than a full Monty because I had a pool of sweat at my feet… I love this place, it’s rustic with a plentifal bar, sofas to lounge about oh and a wine jukebox… So I mooched at the menu last night. This place offers beautiful hot stews, fish gumbo, baked aubergine e for the veggies, soups, home made bread with dipping shizzle… oh and nom desserts like home made carrot cake and cheesecake. I decided on the mushroom fondou which was creamy and tasty… with chunks of bread to dip. this I had to share. The main I chose the halibut with a herb crust and roast parsnips… this was cooked to perfection… my companion was defeated by the chunk of bread that was weighing down his epic meaty stew. Overall this place is warm, inviting with great service with good honest food. They also offer a Breaking Bread loyalty card which rewards you with a bottle of wine and £10 to spend on the wine juke box… Come here for a winter warmer!

Ok I love it here because of the wines. They are always good and normally have something new to try. There is a Wine jukebox, you pick up a card from the bar and then you can play away on it until your money runs out. Which can be a little deadly. I like the food here but sometimes it doesn’t quite hit the mark. Don’t know what is it, but there it is. As you would hope, good bread. The staff are lovely and know about wine. The loos are nice too.

‘Where are we eating?’ ‘Thata way!!!‘ So, that’s how I ended up eating at the Bakerie. Anyone who knows me knows I am a bit off a bread head, so somewhere the sells itself on it bread is always going go down well with me. So the food? Delicious, I went for the soap but got to food envy over the pawns my friend chucked into. So, the make or break for me, service. Well looking over some off the often review it seem that people did have a good time off it. However I can’t fine fault, the staff where great, friendly and new there stuff — the food came well within time and I even had the chief giving me tips on what he thought was the best today — I love open kitchens! So to sum up — yes I will be back. I have a dessert menu to work on.

I haven’t been to Bakerie in ages, something after my last visit I had been dying to do, so on a lazy hangover bank holiday sunday I jumped at the chance when deciding where me and my friends could go. The staff were as always lovely and coping well to say for a Sunday lunchtime shift there was only 2 waitresses on(surely a staffing error?) However the food was not nearly as good as I remember. I ordered the Sunday board with beef, parsnips, cauliflower cheese and veg gravy but everything felt kind of half bothered. The meat wasn’t nearly as good a cut as in the past and bordered on chewy, and my gravy was far too thin. I’m all for second chances and I’ve got a real soft spot for Bakerie, I just hope they haven’t lost sight of what could be an amazing place in favour of its trendier sibling pie&ale.

Needed a place that could easily accommodate 3 buggies over the lunchtime rush, not necessarily the easiest of things especially somewhere independent, but suddenly remembered about Bakerie, somewhere I hadn’t been in ages. There’s no particular reason I hadn’t been in so long but I had always found there was just ‘something’ missing, not that there had ever actually been anything wrong. This time was pretty much the same: loads of room for the prams and staff that were happy for us to take up a large booth area, very reasonably priced lunch specials and a fairly varied menu of sandwiches, things on toast, stews and platters, but still it didn’t blow me away. Two of us had fish finger sandwiches on freshly baked white bloomer with homemade tartare sauce and our other friend had pork shoulder, apple sauce and smoked cheddar on multigrain. The portions were generous and the food was good, although they were perhaps a bit too generous with the doorstep wedges of bread– it’s all about the filling to bread ratio after all! The bill came to a very reasonable £8 each which also included drinks and wedges to share but still I don’t feel the desperate need to return. Perhaps I’m just looking for that elusive ’ x factor’ which sadly Bakerie doesn’t have for me.

Powering through a banging hangover to spend some time with the almost-in-laws, we headed for lunch at Bakerie on the basis of our newfound love of Pie & Ale. The atmosphere was top notch, with plenty of people scarfing down their sandwiches and quaffing some wine, but they fitted us in — a table of 5 — in a matter of moments. Then everything starting falling apart somewhat. Service, despite being friendly, was painfully slow, especially when it came to liquid refreshment; the first round of drinks took a good 20 minutes to arrive, and the second lot got forgotten altogether. Annoying when you can see the barman sitting down having a coffee and you’re waiting for your drinks. Noone came to check up on us while we were eating and no apology was made for the extended wait. I understand that they were busy but a sorry wouldn’t go amiss! However, the food was simply delicious. I went for the pork shoulder with cheese and applesauce on their white bloomer; usually I’m a brown bread girl, but there’s nothing like freshly baked white bread. When the food did eventually come, it was devoured. The apple sauce worked perfectly with the soft pork, and the smoked cheese added an unexpected extra level of flavour and texture. The small salad then came alongside was dressed in a delicious walnut dressing, much better than the creamy mustard so many places dollop on. Not an experience I would be in a rush to revisit, though I would try again eventually on a day where they might be able to handle the amount of people.

Good grief. I had to add Bakerie to my brand new Bean There, Done That list, one which is reserved for the truly finest coffee in Manchester. I don’t really consider myself to be a coffee snob but I knows what I like, and thus far in the Northern Quarter, the folks at Sugar Junction, Teacup, Sparkles, North Tea Power and suchlike are rocking the bean. But you wouldn’t necessarily expect a wine bar to offer such amazeballs coffee. Well, Bakerie does. I settled in on a quiet Friday evening to watch a bit of Austin Powers on their big screen, set up the laptop and use some wifi. I ordered what I always pretentiously ask for in Manchester: ‘May I have a strong black coffee please?’ This can be interpreted in a number of wildly different ways, but oftentimes it involves charging for an extra shot, which I’m pretty sure Bakerie didn’t do according to my bill. Unless they forgotted! Anyway, one kick-ass coffee came my way. It was the kind to indeed give me the quivers and make, to quote The Oatmeal, boring tasks seem exciting. Oh, this was good coffee. It was fiiiiiine coffee. Well done Bakerie for giving me yet another reason to visit you lovely folks!
