Called in the St Annes one last week. The bar man was lovely. nothing too much trouble to him. Put us a table outside and we enjoyed the sunshine and fresh air watching the world go by. We have one in our home town. Its not quite the same!

Why didn’t I try this pub before?! What a revelation, I was very impressed and really enjoyed their selection of real ales. Habit had always taken me to the local Wetherspoons(Trawlboat Inn) on Wood Street, but for a change of scenery the Number Fifteen is fantastic. As a former bank, it has interesting décor, but it still retains a cosy and comfortable air(good seats and cushions), and the service is fine. Will definitely be going back!

We first went in Number Fifteen before the smoking ban, and I have to say it is much improved since the ban came in. Not a lot of space to move around in, once the table areas get full, but worth a visit. I think it must have been a bank in a previous incarnation — if you venture further in past the bar area, you’ll find the ‘vault’ which you can book for the night. Not many bars have that feature. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

The pub is very dark when you enter but you quickly get used to it. There are candles lit around the bar. The drinks are reasonably priced. There is a smoking area outside. The staff are friendly. There is entertainment on different days, I think there is a quiz night during the week and they had wii competitions, not sure if this is still on though.

Number Fifteen doesn’t have a great deal of competition in St. Anne’s but it has certainly not seen that as a reason to provide a low standard of bar. On entering the décor initially had me thinking of a tapas bar as it’s very orange & burnt umber. There are also well chosen prints & lots of mirrors artfully hung all over the place, which seems to have possibly been a church in the past. A number of those by local artists are available for sale. Good prices on a range of draught drinks(including two guest ales), friendly service and a very good value for money full English at £2.39.
