I went to that place a long time ago, but the dish I had there is the best thing I’ve eaten in my life. It did not started well though. My sister invited us to that restaurant, having read about their tasting menu. Unfortunatly we went on a sunday and they don’t do their tasting menu on week ends. In addition to that it was brunch time and they only offer the usual egg type dish. A bit disappointed we decided to stay and I ordered a dish with beetroot, salmon, broccolis. It was the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten. It was sooooo good, I ordered it a second time(yes I ate twice the same dish; this is how good it was). The place itself is very relaxed, the quality of the food really surprised us. I’m planning to go back for the tasting menu.

We had read a truly awful review of this place after booking it. It was so bad that we considered cancelling our reservation. I’m glad we didn’t! The food was delicious and the service was attentive. I can only guess the terrible review we read was written as part of some personal vendetta!

Very friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere. The service was quite slow though, but everyone was lovely. Food-wise, incredibly overpriced but I suppose that goes with the nature of pretentious restaurants in gentrified dumps of London. Onglet was lovely but avoid the boring pork belly. Best thing that came our way was probably the amazing bread!

I’d seen lots of reviews about the white rabbit, so I was really excited to try this amazing sounding food! I booked a table for my birthday and turned up fully expecting to go home happy and give them another 5 star review… Unfortunately for us, it just wasn’t *that* good. It seemed like the chefs have put a lot of thought into every dish, but all the flavours just didn’t go together that well. — I Loooved the bread — The burrata with herbs was delicious… it tasted like summer. — I liked the broccoli(although Marc thought it overpowered the much more subtle taste of the pickled mustard seeds and meade purée) — I quite liked the leeks, although the cheese was so overpowering in dried out my mouth with each bite! — I wasn’t keen on the celeriac at all. It was served covered in cheese, which sounds amazing… but it was so unpleasant that we couldn’t finish it. — The pork belly was all right(it wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t special in anyway… I normally loooove pork belly!) The kale that came with it was really tough. — The truffles were interesting, but just slightly too spicy. They were pleasant until after you finish… and then the peppery spice hits you so my final flavour of the evening was super-spice. I normally looove chilli chocolate so I’m sad that this wasn’t very good. Ah well. The staff were nice, and I loved their wine selection. The food just didn’t wow me, so we came all the way over to Dalston to spend £100 for an okay-ish meal. Meh.

So so grateful for Unilocal… Google hadn’t suggested anywhere close to Servant Jazz Quarters, where I was going for a gig, but Unilocal came up with this outstanding place on the same street! I’d describe it as non-Spanish/Basque tapas — we went for the 5 dishes for £27 to share between my son and me: had excellent onglet, salt cod, pork belly, octopus and mackerel, all with very interesting sauces, pickles, etc., on the plate… I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Lets just say that I took my mother here when she visited. The tapas-style dinner I had was one of the finer dinners i had in London after living there for a year. The roasted watermelon was amazing!

Wow so this was an amazing find. I accidentally had an 11 course shared degustation and seriously couldn’t fault a thing. Super laid back atmosphere, great albeit very ‘natural wine making’ wine list(if you’re into that), and limited but really interesting bottled beers on offer. If I had to pick a favourite course maybe I would go the burnt leeks with roasted garlic and hazelnut butter or maybe I would chose the perfectly cooked moist chicken on peas and cabbage way better than my mother ever cooked them(sorry mum). Or the stuffed zucchini flower on a masala tomato sauce. Or the roasted watermelon with olive candy and salted ricotta. Or the mutton. The smoked aubergine that is served with the monk fish blew my mind and could actually have worked better as a vego dish but still the flavours were pretty amazing. One thing to note: the kitchen has put some serious thought into harmonizing these flavours so put a little bit of everything on your fork to get the most out of your dish. The desserts were pretty butter heavy and delicious. In fact there is a lot of buttery goodness through the whole menu. Delicious. The almond cream and poached apricots was my favourite out of the desserts and if these apricots had been poached in alcohol(grand mariner maybe) then it would have pushed it over the edge. Check this place out ASAP before you can’t get a table. Maybe not the best place for a vegetarian.

Restaurant with a cool, rustic, laid back n simple interior but with the most amazing dishes I’ve ever had. Working in hospitality at several five star hotels in London, I’ve tasted a lot. The dishes match the vibe of the place and seem simple enough but the flavours where amazing. And the way they combine different ingredients in one dish had me and my company completely exhilarated. We couldn’t stop talking about the food and the flavours during the entire course. Each dish is a bit pricy but I recommend having all the small dishes like in a tapas restaurant and therefore trying different things. In a company of 4 ppl we ended paying about £25 per person including wine and dessert. Such a gem in Hackney. Definitely going again soon!

Came here for brunch today. Really nice down to earth restaurant. Friendly casual but also professional staff. Food was really good. Seems to be a Mediterranean/French influenced menu. They had plates for approx £7.50 each. Also offered 3 for £21 etc. Well, I was expecting 3 smallish plates so between 2 of us we ordered 3 plates, toast and also 2 X of the confit duck croquette dishes. Wow! So much food! Plates are big! Great value! Couldn’t actually finish it all as the meaty dishes were quite rich. One of the dishes we ordered was the watermelon & ricotta. The waitress told us that it was the last of the watermelon and wasn’t as much as they’d normally serve so they gave us this dish on the house. How nice is that?! To be honest, we’d never have noticed as it was still a generous sized dish! Really good value for good imaginative freshly prepared food. £28 for 5 dishes and a coffee. Oh the table water is served in jugs with fresh mint & cucumber. Nice touch! Will return and defo recommend!

White Rabbit blew my mind. This place deserves a Michelin star for its food. Unassumingly located in Dalston, the décor is simple, with loads of natural light, and well spaced out. They could easily fit more customers in, but I’m so glad they didn’t. Grateful to have been taken there by a friend. The food was phenomenal. You take a ‘raciones’ approach to ordering here, either from appetisers, small plates or larger plates. We were sharing between two, so ordered a couple of small plates and a main to share. Not once did we regret any of the choices we made. The texture on the grilled squid is amazing. Possibly the best squid I’ve had outside of Greece or Barcelona. Served with squid ink, thinly shaved fennel, and rocket flowers, this is a must for octopus or squid lovers. The leeks, confit garlic, belper knolle and hazelnuts small plate is also worth a detour. I’d give the churros a miss if you’re watching carbs, although I must say that they were surprisingly light as was the tomato emulsion it’s served with. Super aerated. The highlight of the meal for us came with the roast lamb belly. I’ve never had lamb belly before and thought it might have a weird texture. No, not at all. This dish is insane. Perfectly crispy, the right balanced of crackling, and the meat was perfectly cooked, and so, so tender. I’m drooling just thinking about it! Damn! Finally, dessert. We decided to be good and just share one between the two of us. Oddly enough, our curiosity was piqued by the rice pudding. Not something I’d usually order at a restaurant but had no regrets when we tucked into it. Lime infused, with hazelnuts, flowers, it is such a delicate dish yet the lime gives it a well balanced acidity that keeps you coming back for more. All of this washed down with a 20£ bottle of viognier. Service was super friendly and quick as well as efficient. Check out my photos to see how wonderful this place is. I wish I wasn’t compelled to review this place. I kinda wanna keep it to myself!

White Rabbit! You are amazing! White Rabbit impressed me on my very first visit with its great service and delicious food. Recently, however, the food has become even better. So good that I’ve been back 3 times in the last 6 weeks! I can’t think of many meals where I have had to restrain myself from licking the plate after every dish like a dog but last night every dish was well balanced with fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked. I wasn’t the only one scraping the plates with my fork and mopping up with bread. Don’t be selfish and be prepared to share those plates otherwise you’ll miss out on some of the sublime flavours such as the amazing broccoli and leeks, the burrata(with wild garlic flowers) or the tasty lamb. The menu varies but it is always 5 stars. On a some nights they do a tasting menu at £40(It recently went up from £35, possibly when they realised it’s the best tasting menu in London) for 7 courses but it’s kinda 9 when you include bread & butter and the chocolates they gave us to finish. The chef brings some of the dishes over with enthusiasm and careful explanations. He is also approachable and happy to talk about the food and how he has been working on getting the tasting menu just right. If you didn’t spot what I said up there, I said the BESTTASTINGMENUINLONDON. I have eaten at several Michelin starred restaurants and I actually think the food here is better than most, and at these prices it’s phenomenally good. The venue itself is very minimal — whitewalls, old chairs and table, nothing fancy but simple and appropriate given its Dalston location. Despite it’s amazingness, you can usually book a table without too much trouble. Go now before the rest of the capital catch on or(god forbid) the chef leaves to open some fancy Mayfair restaurant!

6 reviews and none on the brunch? Dare I say that this might be a relatively undiscovered gem? I don’t spend a lot of time in Dalston because, well, it’s Dalston and it’s far away. But we came to White Rabbit for a late brunch. From the outside it’s very understated and inside very relaxed, it’s staffed by lots of young, hip Dalstonites. The brunch menu is delightfully simple but made with exceptionally good ingredients. We opted for the smashed avocado on toast with ricotta and the eggs on toast with hollandaise and ham hock. The avocado was a revelation. Firstly, it’s extremely difficult to get avocados this ripe in the UK, and they had seasoned it with lemon so that it was incredibly flavourful. I could have eaten a bucket of this stuff and died happy. I normally shy away from ordering eggs, they aren’t really my favourite, but this was the best benedict-style dish I’ve ever eaten. The eggs were perfectly poached and bathed in the tastiest hollandaise sauce I’ve ever had. I didn’t really know what to expect ordering ‘ham hock’ but it was tender and teamed beautifully with the sourdough toast and spinach. I never wanted these two dishes to end. Great coffee too. Love this place.

Yay! I’m a fan. Despite them messing up our order(missed 2 of the large plates we ordered) they made up for it by giving us the desserts for free. It’s a good thing as it kept us on a high. The Onglet, Pierogi & Spaetzle were amazing. it still makes my mouth water when I think about it. I can’t even begin to describe them well enough to do them justice. For a group of 6 people we had one of each of their straight ups(olives, nuts, bread), then about 7 small plates and should have had 3 large plates. We only got 1 large plate so then asked for 4 desserts. They gave us 6 desserts. The parsnips & truffle was interesting, the chocolate ganache was my favourite and the date & candy floss was pretty bland. Thing is they take a risk with flavours — it paid off on the majority of the dishes so it still won me over.

Great local place with a weekly changing menu. Had the lamb belly, excellent. The potatoes in pork fat were a great side.

I’ve come here 3 times for brunch and felt it was time for a review. First thing you should do is book. It gets busy here and there’s nothing worse than a hangover and having to hover about waiting for a table. The food is great and I’ve always found the service as friendly but not in your face. My fave is the blueberry pancakes and bacon, but the fry up is equally as good. I’ve booked for my boyfriends birthday dinner so I’m hoping the food is as good in the evening :)

This place is very ‘Dalston’! I came here for my birthday with my wife; the food was good, and the drinks had a decent kick which is always important. The dessert was really good and my wife was well impressed. I thought it was slightly pricey, but overall a good experience.

Had a wonderful time here recently for a birthday celebration. The bread was more-ish and home-made(the butter looked it too!) We had charred aubergine with honeycomb, globa artichokes and polenta with mushrooms. Everything was beautifully presented, but the real knockout was the chocolate crème brûlée — stunning! Tiny bit pricey but perfect for special occasions :)

This is a new restaurant opened in the heart of hipster country. White Rabbit ambitiously(for dalston) serves interesting dishes under the ‘sharing’ genre but each dish has a great balance of flavour whether eaten on its own or as a series of dishes. Since it first opened they have tightened up the menu(rightly so) but kept it interesting. Of the 10 dishes we(3) ordered each had character but without getting carried away. Rioja was good and the staff have also improved with time. Highly recommended. my 1st5* rating. Definitely worth a visit especially as you’d have to head to mare street of broadgate mkt to match the quality.
