We stopped here for an early dinner and a couple of pints. The good: Tasty burger, crispy fries, good beer. Also, the service was attentive and friendly, and I found the prices pretty reasonable for London. Not the cheapest pub in the world, but certainly not the most expensive. A good bar to watch the games, plenty of TVs, and plenty of seating. Also appreciated, despite sitting underneath one of the speakers, the sound didn’t drown out conversation. The bad: not too much, actually. The aroma from the bathroom was oddly pretty strong, despite the actual bathroom not smelling that badly at all? Which was a little strange. Perhaps they had just cleaned it, and there was ammonia in the hallway? I just don’t know. Anyway — while it’s not too different from any of the other pubs in the area, I was pleasantly surprised by both food and service so I’d probably return.

Putney is not a great place to watch sport down the pub(perhaps because it’s that type of area where everybody has Sky. Who knows?). Unless you’re prepared to venture some way from the high street, your choices are fairly uninspiring. The Fox? Dear God, no. The Whistle and Flute, then, may not be the greatest pub that ever existed, both on looks and atmosphere front, but it is a very solid place to watch football — and for that, locals should be thankful. Several screens, including one in a rather quaint function room towards the back, mean you don’t have to fight for a spot to watch the game — and they’ll regularly put more than one match on at a time. The staff are friendly, the food is standard pub grub and perfectly acceptable, and there’s the usual range of Fuller’s Ales, including a guest. A small word of warning: It can get busy with Fulham fans, due to its proximity to Craven Cottage. But if you’re going to watch their recent Europa League exploits, this is as good a place as any to do so. If you don’t like football — or other sports — chances are it won’t be on your visiting list. If you just want a decent, solid pub to watch a game in, this is probably the best place in Putney — although it’s not as if it has much competition.

A fairly standard and uninspiring Fuller’s pub. Only came in here as my intended destination was unfortunately closed. I don’t like the look of many fullers pubs… they lack charmthis one is the worst one I have come across in that respect.

This is my office local, so to speak, and I’m very glad it is. While one generally knows what to expect from Fullers pubs, and this place maintains those good standards, there are added bonuses to this particular establishment. A separate comfortable«function room» is available for hire, it’s great for watching sport when it’s on(four easily visible screens), the food is OK and served quickly, and they do film nights. Love it in summer when they open completely open the large front windows. Their major plus point — in my opinion — is that the staff are helpful, fun and friendly(even when they didn’t recognise my face when I first started going in). Only drawback is that it can get very crowded very quickly. This is partly because it’s so easy to find and partly down to times when Fulham FC are playing nearby. Not sure this pub would be for everyone though. It is a bit of an «old man’s pub» in that if you like sport and beer, then you’re fine. Can’t imagine many ladies falling in love with it though to be honest.

Friendly bar staff who made us feel so welcome. really made us laugh. We were there to watch the football, but they also had a rugby match on another screen. Great atmosphere, definately will go back. If you’ve not been i recommend you visit.

Putney High Street has many bars and pubs for lazy afternoon drinks or fun nights out. Flute and whistle is one of those pub/bars that you always end up going to meet friends, watch a game of Rugby or stop in for a quick drink. The staff are friendly and the clientele, mid twenties plus, are all very civilised. You definitely notice when a stag do or hen party waltz through! Hosting all live sports games — this place gets packed very quickly — especially with Kiwis and Aussies! I like the atmosphere when it is packed and everyone is cheering, especially if my team is winning!
