The best pub in Putney. New ales every 2 – 3 weeks and a proper old pub.

Friendly staff and great beers — when they have them on tap(that’s the only downside) but when the beer fests are in town, The Bricklayer’s do stock up! Also, only cash, no cards accepted.

We absolutely love this little pub. Amazing beer selection, beer festivals and regular sing alongs(best contact them for dates for this) and incredibly friendly staff who will let you taste anything — what else do you want from a pub? In the winter they also have an electric fire with armchairs to sit in front of — but hurry up, the best seats in the house are the first ones taken! It was a little cold in the other parts of the pub but that seems to be england — central heating anyone?

A hidden gem! This pub had a great ambiance and décor. The drinks are well priced and delicious! The pub food/snacks are also very good. The staff are friendly and make you feel right at home. Love this place!

Nice place with a good atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming. I live a few doors down and this has been my local for years. Love it.

I always go to The Bricklayers for a couple of fine beers and some chatting with the folks there. Sometimes it tends to get a little crowded and there is a light lack of seats but who cares as long as there’s plenty of ale and the staff is friendly. This place makes me forget about tomorrow and the worries that come along with it and just enjoy today.

Went there last night with some friends for a couple of beers and we had a great night out. The people are warm and friendly and we actually met two ladies who were having fun just like we did. Overall a really nice place.

Alone or with your mates, this place is the perfect end to a long day at work. They cater over 100 really real ales, to anyone’s taste. Anyone fancy a pint?

The Bricklayer’s Arms is a CAMRA(Campaign for Real Ale) award-winning pub in Putney. It’s quite typical for a CAMRA-orientated pub: a freehouse, meaning unusual ales on tap(a welcome contrast to the Youngs-affiliated pubs found across Putney and Wandsworth), quirky wooden interior and a loyal crowd of regulars. The relatively limited choice of ale means it doesn’t compare to the likes of the Cask Pub and Kitchen(Pimlico), the Craft Beer Company(Farringdon) or any of the Draft House pubs dotted around London. However the sublime quality of what it does have(I had a wonderful pint of Windsor and Eton Treetops Diamond Jubilee stout with delicious hints of coffee. Mmmmm) makes it worth stopping by if you like ale. A drinker outside claimed it was the best pub in Putney. That’s a debateable point of view, but plausible at the same time.

I used to work here about… oh…28 years ago. Back then, they were trying to clean up the place as it had a Reputation(think syringes in the ladies’ room and spliffs) so I got pretty good at throwing people out of bars(yeah, I know, karma’s a bitch). Now, though, it’s a lovely, friendly little pub tucked away down the end of the street that feels like a proper local should feel. Big G and I chatted to a local(who happens to be from Wisconsin) and played with her cut dog(Meg, I think), and I enjoyed soaking up the memories — I mean, the beer.

Put simply this is the best pub I have been to in Putney. The place is warm and friendly(they have a fire in the winter). The quality of drinks is superb and changes frequently and the staff actually know about the drinks they are serving and make very good recommendations. They also have frequent real ale festivals which are superb. It can get very busy, however everyone is really friendly and whilst in other places lack of seats is an issue, you don’t notice it here. The beer garden is lovely too and I like the Décor inside the pub, it just feels homely. The only issue is that they do not serve food and if you have friends who aren’t into real ale, the choice of drinks can be limited. This place well deserves it’s place as being a great CAMRA pub!

Despite the rather forgettable pint I had in here, I do like the pub very much. It’s got a cute beer garden, it’s a nice place for a beer and the locals seem pleasant. The landlady was friendly to me, although I’m not impressed with reports that she has attitude with a friend who didn’t order a pint of ale(seriously, ale pubs need to stop with that righteous attitude and serve people what they want to drink). I’m not sure I’d come out of my way for a beer here, and I’d likely only try it again if it was sunny and I could sit outside. But it’s the kind of place you could lose a few hours, and it was perfect for avoiding all talk of the Royal Wedding and catching up with friends.

More than just Timothy Taylor beers, though that would be reason enough to stop in. Has a local country pub feel, but it’s right in the heart of Putney. Proprietor and staff are incredibly friendly. Just ask the fellow next to you at the bar, chances are he’s a regular. They won an award for«Greater London Pub of the Year 2009», but do not specify who bestowed the honour. Even if it’s a self-given award it is merited.

What a cracking little find this pub is. Five types of Timothy Taylor on tap, plus a proper scrumpy cider, an old-school pub skittles game, friendly bar staff and tons of atmosphere from people just settling down with a pint. There’s really nothing else you could add to this pub. It serves great drinks and has no aim to be anything other than a superb local. I will be back — many times.

For my liking, this is the best inn in Putney and fits into a good pub crawl incorporating The White Horse in Parsons Green and The Cat’s Back on the other side of Wandsworth Park. No music but usually plenty of chatter in the evenings, this place can be near-silent at lunchtime apart from a warm welcome from the staff. Thankfully, this is just how I like to escape from a busy office. A fairly spartan interior is backed up by interesting historic photos of the local area. The full range of Timothy Taylor’s is well-kept and the Sunday roasts are well worth the trip. The potato and leek soup is just the ticket for warming you up on a cold day.

Had been meaning to come here for a long long time. It has won the CAMRA greater London pub of the year, but has also been in the top 10 recommendations for me on qype for some time. So I expected a lot. And I was not disappointed. This is a lovely pub. Not an old style pub, but not a very modern one either. I like Mr Tim Taylor’s brews(of which this pub serves the whole range) but was drawn to an excellent chocolate orange ale that tastedwell like a Jaffa cake actuallylovely. My visit was not long after Christmas so the tree was still up and was the nicest pub tree I saw over the festive period. The service was very friendly too. This pub is well worth seeking out.
