Stumble upon this place after disappointingly found out that Borough Market is closed on Sunday. They have some bar tables in the alley that connect market and London Bridge. We had sausage burger, chips and beer. All were good except the chips, which are phenomenal … the cross section of the fries are arrow shaped, they are crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Loved sitting next to the cathedral garden having good food.

A few fellow Unilocalers and myself happened across this place after being turned away from London Grind(private party, boo!). From the outside, it looks like a street food cart(blue cheese burgers are served from the outside during the day), however, after entering through a patio sliding door, you find yourself in a wooden treasure trove of row after row of whiskey bottles. The two barmen serving were friendly and polite(and one was very cute!), they made the drinks really quickly and without fuss. The cocktail selection on offer here is unique compared to anything else I’ve seen before in London, so I was excited to try what they had to offer. I ordered a Ginger Fashioned, which as you can probably imagine is a ginger twist on a traditional Old Fashioned. It came garnished with a ginger slice(which I initially thought was potato, haha) The Smoky Fashioned was made with actual smoke, and looked really technical to make — I was certainly impressed with this! Every drink I had a taste of was delicious. I’d certainly recommend coming here if you’re looking to try something more experimental than your bog standard whisky sours and pina coladas. Upstairs was yet more wooden décor, with Charlie Chaplin silent movies being projected onto the wall. I thought this was a nice touch. The music being played was great too; everything from Bowie to the Kinks. I love a bit of alternative. Cooler still, was the fact the toilet door was pretty inconspicuous, hidden away in the wooden panelling of the wall. One thing that did make the evening a little unpleasant was when one of the bar men(sadly, the cute one) came upstairs to go into the staff room and farted as he did so. The smell was thick and pungent — the kind that gets in your eyes and you’re somehow able to taste too. Dear god. I’ve never stuck my nose so hard into a whiskey glass before! I will definitely be back. I just hope next time my drinks come minus a side of eggy sulphur.

This review is for the drinks only — and not even the full restaurant, we just stayed in the bar on the Borough Market level. The cocktails were excellent, albeit slightly overpriced. Bartenders were on it, quickly gathering orders and putting drinks out(well — as fast as you can be given craft cocktails). Busy place, a bit disorganised it felt like, neither the customers nor the staff really seemed to know if there were tables open, around, and everything was just a bit disorganised. Good cocktails, enjoyable drink.

Service is usually very friendly. Been here about 4 times. The burgers are very good and the chips are always perfectly fluffy with a funky curved shape. They serve meantime pale ale and lager. Inside and outside seating. It’s a small place but with nice character. One burger, two portion chips, pint of ale and a juice for £20.

Located under the railway arches at Borough market is Whiskey Ginger. In day time it is over-crowded with tourists but in the evening it is pretty decent place to pop-in for a cocktail. The cocktails are not the absolutely best in town but they are doing nice flavor combos, many with whiskey or bourbon in them, at pretty decent prices(£8−9). The design of the place is nice and while it feels as if they are trying a bit too hard I still think it is a good option if you find yourself in this area of town and want a cocktail. The service is nice and friendly, perhaps not super-fast but once I have my drink I am usually not in a hurry. Music was pretty decent as well so a nice place to hang out for several drinks. It is fairly calm in the evenings as well as most tourists have then moved elsewhere.

Wer geht hin: Tourispot, also Touristen. It’s Veggitime: Der Veggi Burger war außergewöhnlich. Einschränkung: Man muss süße Bürger(Cranberry) mögen. — English: Good veggiburgers, but the French fries were cold! Cool ambience!

Fantastic for breakfast sitting outside with 1980’s London soul music. Delicious egg and bacon sandwich.

If you’re and don’t want to wait more than 25min to eat, please avoid this place. Customer service really sucks. But it’s your money, your choice.

Great atmosphere for a small bar with friendly staff. Great creative mix of cocktails, on tap local beer. Freshly cooked burgers on offer all night
