Simply the most useful shop in Notting Hill Gate, and long may it continue. My go-to place for anything from vacuum cleaner bags to flower pots. Amazing how much they manage to squeeze into a relatively small shop without making the place look cluttered. A slightly less useful branch recently opened down the road in Holland Park Avenue, concentrating on appliances, fancy kitchen accessories and gifts — but the original is still the best.

What phenomenal service. I needed a new ironing board and was very clear about the specification. Nothing locally in Kingston Upon Thames fitted the bill. I researched various manufacturers’ websites and was totally confused but boiled it down to two brands. I called Tylers who stocked both makes. Not only was I given clear advice on the best choice but in minutes I was given a code for the board that met all my needs and it was confirmed instantly on the phone that stock was available. Then came the cherry on the cake. The owners arranged to deliver it on their way home without any extra charge. What can I say. I thought this kind of shop didn’t exist nowadays. Wonderful, unique and the only place to buy anything for the house in future. If Tylers have it I’ll buy it. Congratulations to the whole team for a first class experience!

Wouldn’t it be funny if we all had a personal theme song? I mean, a theme song when you enter a store or eat something you like??? Well I have one and for TH and its«I want it all» from Queen. Haha. Last time is was there i was like a kid telling my boyfriend: «Oh, I want this!» «Uh, we need this!» «John, we definitely need this!» «But…but…I want iiiiiiiit!!!» I might have stomped my feet as well at one point… hahaha. Placing aside my bratty-like outings, this hardware store is brilliant. It’s been over 25 years since it was established and the company still prides it self with a strong reputation within Nottinghill Gate(and surrounding areas). They can supply everything, from china to gardening tools, decorating supplies, kitchenware, light bulbs, ladders, steps– trestles and flower deliveries. You name it! Yes– Its an excellent shop and you can find all kinds of DIY bits and bobs. Really good quality for the kitchen and homeware stuff… I have my eye on some funky pots and a bamboo steamer. I assure you, you will never fail to find what you need(and even if you don’t need anything, you will surely buy something tee-hee.).

I’ve never been one to speak lovingly about a hardware store, but Tylers at Notting HIll Gate deserves a multitude of praises. More than just a hardware store, this is a one-stop-shop for your worldly household needs. Here is a sampling of my Tylers purchases from the past few months: paint, paper towels, a planter, a vase, Halloween decorations, fresh flowers(there is a florist in the shop), extension cord, new keys, bread knife, candles, picture frame, tupperware, candy thermometer, gas cylinder(bbq), hanging rail, broom, gum. In addition, a number of times I’ve asked for something usually quite random and not on the shop floor only to have it appear minutes later(there must be a wonderful storage area somewhere???) This neatly brings me to the employees: everyone working there is friendly, helpful and fully informed — even the girls at the till can locate obscure items. i recently read that a proposed rent increase may force Tylers to leave its current home(where it has been for over 22 years). Let’s hope not… You certainly won’t find me speaking lovingly of Robert Dyas.
