Very friendly pub with a really good Sunday roast. Very quick service as well.

Ate here last week with friends and again yesterday. They have a good selection of beverages. Overall the food was good. I can only speak for my dish but I know that the roast chicken I ordered was not only tender and juicy, it was crazy flavorful! Prices are decent and servings are a hood size but I’d recommend a larger portion for the fish and chips.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with The Wandle. I Love: the décor(shabby chic), the food, and the ping pong table in the garden. I hate: the prices, how busy it gets(and the fact they let people reserve tables on a Friday night) the lack of beer choice(lots of boring lager and a couple of draught) and I hate that they put Aussie rules football on the TV when there are Premiership games on. When it’s quiet though I do love this bar. Their lunch time menu is great and very reasonably priced. If you time it right in the summer, nab the ping pong table and a pitcher of pimms and have a wonderful afternoon in The Wandle.

The Wandle is a good pub, very South African Heavy on weekends! Food is pretty good, service OK, just a bit rowdy and smelly at the weekends. The garden is always a popular spot in the Summer and they have live music on Saturdays. Give it a go! Kx

This is a lovely bar not too far from where I live, and regularly pop in for a drink. Whether it be a lovely sunny afternoon, a Friday night or mid week quiz night, it’s always a lovely atmosphere. The have barbecues outside and make roasts on Sundays, and a massive garden with a ping pong table. I always enjoy myself when heading there, and their prices are very reasonable :)

This is a great place to spend a sunny day, thanks to a fantastic beer garden that helps you forget you’re still in the thick of the city. A good drinks selection, excellent staff(even on a busy Saturday) and a top quality food menu(the platters are particularly delicious) don’t let the side down either. My only gripe, and in these times this is a definite –2 star gripe, is the cost of a visit. The food and drink may be of a good standard, but you are definitely paying for it and the prices really reflect more of a restaurant level than what you would generally expect for pub fare outside of the centre of London.

I have been coming to the place for a number of years and I have seen it change with people coming and going, with the name changing but what never seems to change is the fact that you always feel good when you are here. The food is very good and the beer is good. what more do you need?

I had my first off pint of Sambrooks Wandle ale here at the Wandle. Unfortunate. I didn’t try the food here so can’t comment on that. More generally though the pub struck me as pretty average: a few ales on tap, a few more lagers, all-too-familiar rustic-chic interior common to Youngs pubs in Wandsworth Borough. Except that it served me a pint of Wandle that was clearly off. So overall, below average.

i was somehow convinced to come here with four males to watch some semi final football match on their big screen. i brought my kindle and was the only person sitting in my direction…(to be fair, i would have watched the screen, had there been room for me on the sofas… there wasn’t so i sat under the tv!) it was a nice pub — very roomy, lots of comfy sofas and couches and a big beer garden which would be perfect on a sunny day(especially with the bbq they have out there!) — the garden is also well covered so good for those days when it’s not cold, but it is most definitely raining! i was pleased to see that the food menu offered slightly lighter affairs such as salads, as the last time i went to one of the pubs in this chain, there wasn’t anything like it on offer. i had a caesar salad sans bacon, and it was good — probably overpriced for what it was, but no complaints from me. my boyfriend had fish and chips — the chips were like real chippy chips, and the mushy peas it came with was delicious(i tried some!) — the fish changes depending on what is available — on saturday it was coley, he felt that the fish was good but that there was slightly too much batter on it. otherwise, portion-wise i thought it looked like good value for money. my boyfriend’s friend lives on the street that the wandle is on, so we will no doubt be back if we are in the area.

I don’t like this place when it’s gets too full but that’s more to do with me than the pub itself. The food here is really surprising in that it’s of a very high quality, is well presented and is good value. I haven’t found a better fish and chips in many other places and this is my favourite Sunday lunch pub. Another great thing about the place is that although there is a strong South African contingent, when there is football on it’s full of English folk, when Wales are playing rugby it’s full of the Welsh, All Black & English rugby supporters also frequent the place… and so on. That really makes me warm to the place. So they get a pretty good mix of people except on a Friday night when the saffas tend to dominate. Also a great outside area.

This spacious pub is decorated with a few antique/repro bits and bobs, school desks, leather chairs, shelves of books, stags head etc, done in a restrained, intelligent(corporate) manner — ‘cosy with a little wit’ rather than tooo manipulative(‘look, look, it’s not just a pub, it’s a lifestyle. You are cool, we are cool — look at all the fun props’) or just plain shit(‘I don’t know Barry, I guess we’ll just glue stacks of second-hand books on shelves and in alcoves inexplicably above head-height. That ought to do it’). I digress. It’s a nice place to hang out. Buzzy at night and of course when sports are on. On quiet daytimes it’s pleasantly open, light and airy. Smart garden with decking, lots of sheltered seating and a ping-pong table. On sunny weekends there’s a barbecue counter on the go out there, with a whole extra ‘from the grill’ menu available. There are also three barbecues for hire for folk without a garden, which I thought was a good idea, and they advertise a quiz night, movie night and occasional live acoustic music nights. Above average food, but only just(on a spectrum of pubs that do food, not including gastropubs, and in recognition that oh so many pubs do underwhelming nosh). The menu is actually quite impressive to read, but both things I’ve had haven’t been anything special. I’ve had a tasty enough steak and chips(beautifully presented on a wooden board but the meat was a bit cheap and over-salted) and a veggie roast dinner. The veggie roast looked gorgeous, and the roast butternut squash and the mushroom wellington were delicious. The roast potatoes were a bit chewy(we were eating late so I expect they had been sat around a while) and the cauliflower cheese needed more cheese, but that’s me being really picky. Hark at that selection — it was a multitude of veggie noms on a plate. The only very sad thing was the ‘gravy’. It was really wet and really tasteless. I can only presume that it was gravy granules that had accidentally been over-diluted with cooking water from the cauliflower. Yuck. What could have brought all the lovely components together instead made them swill a bit on the plate as if they had been dropped into a sink of washing up water, fished out, and plated up. It has potential though, so I’d try it again. Maybe the chef was having a bad afternoon. My partner was happy with his beef version. I can’t help but judge food closely, but I mustn’t end on a downer. It’s a good pub.

I was just at The Wandle for a friend’s birthday party and was pleasantly surprised. The Wandle is a local garden pub in Earlsfield, but is much like a desert oasis as some of the surrounding area is a bit rough. There is a FANTASTIC beer garden with plenty of seating and lots of budding flora and fauna. It makes a great atmosphere for a few pints on a hot summer day with your mates. The inside is decorated with a hodge-podge collection of mirrors, signs, albums and books. In one corner are some seriously ancient leather chairs that severly insult the cow that once adorned the welt. If you sit down you may never get up! The staff were friendly enough even though they were quite busy and there was live music that had the dance floor packed. Yes, I said dance floor. I didn’t think pubs had dance floors and I could have sworn when I first went in there wasn’t one but after 15 minutes of tunes… DANCEFLOOR! A good time.

Great atmosphere at night with a huge outdoor garden and a guy with a barbecue! What more could anyone want?
