I don’t really know how, or why, but it’s there and I love it. This place is colourful, smelly, interesting, I don’t really know if it’s cheap but it feels cheap? You kind of just need to go to fully appreciate something like the Victory.

Been here a few times and always enjoy. The jukebox is free, so you can stack up all your faves, if you can find them. They’ve squeezed in a POOL table — 70p a game — it’s so tight that you’re sometimes taking shots with the butt of the cue scraping the wall. Lots of good banter with the regulars.

Cue nervous laughter. I was a little apprehensive at heading into this traditional English pub, as I’d seen some rather colourful local characters outside earlier. But inside has a fairly cool vibe, very art scene hipster types. They tend to absorb the regulars who just eye them with bemusement and continue drinking. A jukebox full of 80s music and a huge variety of crisps behind the bar, I’m sold. I spotted the snooker table and instantly thought yeah no-one here is going to fire that baby up. But Eric J. quickly had Lizzie G. roped into a game, yeah she’s bad. And then people were slapping 70ps down on it to claim their game. I did get quite the shock stepping out into the toilets. Out, yes! Chris O. asked what they were like, my answer: industrial chic. Yeah they are grim, but when you gotta go, you gotta go! The Victory can be a great pub if you’re there with cool friends and fun, maybe not so much if you’re on your own or a couple.

Situated in the heart of Easy London most famous Art Road, The victory is a lovely ye olde pub with lots of characterful people! I sometimes stop in here while visiting my friends in their studios, they have a good selection of beers and ales. It gets very busy on private view nights(which are more like a street party). I love it here.

Goodness knows how the ‘The Victory’ has survived given it’s loacation, but it has and I for one am grateful for that. Tucked away from the main Cambridge heath Road, you would never come across this place by accident, although that is now changing with the influx of art studios to the area. The pub itself is small and relies on those art gallery openings for a lot of its income, but it is a place worth visiting. It has the usual beers, and spirits, but they are all at a cost cheaper than anywhere else in the area, reason alone to pop in for one. However, there are two further joys that make an evening in here worthwhile: A pool table and the mother of all jukeboxes, which is free. That’s right free! The landlady is friendly and relaxed, as is the atmosphere, so raise a glass to this rarity of venues, ‘To the Victory’.
