I have a thing for industrial architecture, and I love places that still hold some of the stories of their past. LimeWharf is located on Regent Canal, and in theory I could have walked or cycled here all the way from Little Venice. Public transport’s a bit faster and Vyner Street just a short walk from Bethnal Green. My first visit was during the daytime for a conference hosted by the Crafts Council. This took place in the main building which includes a lovely coffee shop. Mass catering can be a bit of a challenge for all involved, but that event was perfectly catered for from beginning to end. I returned this week for an experimental music/movie night. Feeling quite smug about knowing my way I was surpised to find the doors to the main building and bar closed. After a short moment of panic I located their second venue. The Machine Room is just a block further on past some dark windows. It’s more basic than the main building, i.e. no bar. Which makes sense when you realise that during the day this is actually a workshop for makers and craftspeople.
