Sometimes I don’t know what I’m expecting when I go out drinking in Central, but more often than not I’m a bit disappointed. The Slaughtered Lamb is just behind my husbands new office and whilst he’s been there during the day — I don’t think he’s been there after work. We decided to go one night to grab a beer. I think it’s run by the same people who run the Well and Bucket on the Bethnal Green Road, and I think probably both my reviews would be the same; whilst the beers are extensive(and expensive!), the space spacious and the food tasty I can’t help be entirely put off by how god dam loud it is in there?! I know this will probably make me sound like some old fuddy duddy, but whatev’s, mate. When I spend an hour or so sat on sofa inches away from my husband and I still have a horse voice when I leave I think you need to turn down the decibels. I appreciate that you wanna create an atmosphere, right? And I get that the higher the volume, the louder people will talk, the busier it will seem and a busier sounded pub sounds like, «Hey, it sounds like everyone is having a great time in there, we should go too!» but to me it sounds like, «Fuck this place, let’s go somewhere where I don’t have to shout at you just to be vaguely understood.» I don’t know — maybe I just chose the wrong pub for the wrong occasion — I will happily come here again during the day, but I doubt I will make the move of coming here in the evening again, even with a load of people.

Worth almost missing your train home for. This place is rad. I’ve been here twice and I’m most certainly a fan — once to see a friend who lives in London and once by pure, happy accident. The return visit confirmed what a cool place it is: sweet DJ playing a great selection, chilled staff who’re quick to serve, a great selection of craft beer and ale, and some pretty funky vintage furniture in the cosy corner.(This is now my «regular» spot, FYI.) Love the weird rabbit/rat picture too. I guess I can’t elaborate further, except that if you’re getting the last train back to Leeds, you can just about make it with 20 minutes to go, but that involves stampeding your way there. Glad I didn’t miss it, and it was worth it for the panic. Now that I think about it, both times I’ve nearly missed the train home. I kinda think that says something about it, don’t you?

Really, really, really… really liked this pub! It’s a good old fashioned English/London boozer where most people are hanging out on the streets drinking as opposed to sat inside but that’s not a problem at all as it was super easy to get a seat inside and get served at the bar this time. There’s a great selection of craft beers on offer in the fridges and on tap it’s very heavy on Camden brewery — making their Pale ale or Camden Ink stout a great choice if you really want to drink fairly decent local stuff. On this Thursday night there was a really good DJ playing a fantastic eclectic vinyl mix of funk, The Stones and Grace Jones — nice!

Quite the variety of beer offerings, and I had the best chocolate stout ever. I am not one for sweet beers/drinks, but this tasted like a Tootsie pop(but not sickeningly sweet), which was very refreshing on a warm evening. Naturally quite noisy during the happy hour period, inside you have to shout your conversations, but the venue is fairly spread out and not jammed with tables, so it doesn’t feel claustrophobic, even when super busy.

Great ambiance :) sometimes the toilets don’t smell so well but it still is a great place to have a few drinks with friends.

The venue itself is great — lots of space inside and out. I was primarily disappointed by the food — the menu looked very good but as a whole everything was incredibly bland. Sweet potato wedges were mushy, fries were mushy, cauliflower cakes mushy… all mushy and needed loads of salt. The waitress was also frazzled and pretty rude even though hardly anyone was ordering food. Bottom line — cool place for a drink but don’t eat here!

Rather a nice pub in Clerkenwell with a basement function room. Good beer is served but prices are quite high. Food is available but mostly of the junk food variety. It is spacious and offers good free wifi.

Very disappointed in my recent trip to the Slaughtered Lamb. I had made a booking, and I had received an email confirmation about my table for 10 people for a happy hour. When I arrived and spoke with a bartender, there was no recollection of the booking despite showing him my email. We were able to find our own empty table as the pub offered no assistance in the mess-up. Drinks are a bit over-priced, and service is slow.

I am about to review the Slaughtered Lamb this rainy 1st of Jan 2014, exhausted from last nights NYE shenanigans — I log on to Unilocal, only to see Vicky L my Unilocal wife has beaten me to it. She’s got the fastest fingers in the West of London, but I digress. On to the pub. It’s not a cosy boozer I admit, but they put on a good new years bash, which ticked all the various requirements of our diverse party — amongst us were the non clubbers, the pub-bers and the dancers, and the mates who just want to be silly(I think I may fall into that category). Luckily there’s lot of things to help you do just that — as Vicky mentioned the pub possesses the classic trivia game ’ FACT or CRAP’ for the silly people. And for the pub-bers, there’s lots of space in the pub and many tables to sit and chat. You can even book a table for NYE — and they kindly gave us 2 free bottles of fizz with the booking to help us celebrate. We didn’t quite wait until midnight though. As for the dancers, the upstairs pub had a DJ which may have drowned out some of our chatter, but was thoroughly enjoyed and danced to after midnight. For extra choice, downstairs the pub is another unaccepted dance floor area — which was designated an 80s music space this NYE. OK so the toilet smelled a bit dodgy, the DJ stopped Pump up the Jam in mid flow for no apparent reason and does beer costs £5.50 for a pint these days? But nothing’s perfect and we had a marvelous time. The music upstairs was pretty good and the staff were lovely. We danced, we had fun with mates and were definitely a bit silly. A thoroughly enjoyable NYE — thanks The Slaughtered Lamb for making it happen. FACTORCRAP: If a tarantula loses a leg, it can grow a new one.

It’s 1pm on New Year’s day. So I might as well get on and try remember last night at the Slaughtered Lamb and break in Unilocal 2014. I really liked this pub. The drinks weren’t super expensive and it’s nice to be able to squeeze in a corner(Ha! We had a sofa and 2 giant armchairs, a fake fireplace, a cabinet full of games and an area where we can dance) on NYE for free. Did I mention they threw in a couple of bottles of Fizz for FREE? Just because we erm… showed up? Who doesn’t want to dance for free with free booze and play fact or crap with mates on NYE? Also I loved how it was less noisy than the average pub(especially once we nested), that is important for those who are hard of hearing from too-much-loud-music-exposure. Zara L. is a genius for making this happen. Also there are LOTS of guys spotting beards if you’re into that. And«Fact or Crap» is kinda awesome when you’re a little drunk.

Great pub, with not-too-loud music(for once, that’s a relief, we can chat without breaking our voice our our friends’ ears !). Great finger-food, and interesting drink list(Dutch and Belgian lagers… mmmhhhh). I defo have to go back for a concert, in the basement, one day… Cheers !

great looking venue with decent beers on tap that is severely letdown by the apathetic staff, you work in a busy pub… move your arse! shame. i didn’t try the food and sadly wouldn’t go back to try it, well maybe for the live music venue downstairs which looked cool.

The Slaughtered Lamb is a perfect pub for an after work drinks and party goers. The bar upstairs served variety selection of drinks at very affordable price. Downstairs is another area that is perfect for dancing and mingling with new friends. There is also a live bands performing here all night long.

For a new pub that’s meant to look old, it’s done well. The beers selection is really diverse, with tons of funky ones and a few local flavours on tap. The local ones were really nice! On Fridays it gets packed busy and kinda full of drunks in suit jackets, smart shirts or heals. Which is kinda not my scene… An after work booze up kinda needs you to actually work with those people… otherwise it makes a dull conversation. But thankfully downstairs is another area for LIVEBANDS to play and without the pretense of the office politics in the upstairs bar. I waited forever for the bands to start, but got tired before any came on… But the downstairs felt like it would eventually get rocking… Though I haven’t been back to see how late you have to wait for that bit. I left at something like 10:45

The Slaughtered Lamb is an ideal pub for after work drinks. It always has a very lively atmosphere with a friendly crowd and great feel to it. There is also a room downstairs that hosts a range of music nights, including my own! The sound is excellent(complete with a friendly soundman running it) and the room has a lovely intimate atmosphere with cosy chairs and retro décor. Great for relaxing and enjoying the sounds of upcoming artists before they hit the big time.

I went to the Lamb recently for my friend’s gig that she was running in the basement and I have to say it’s one of the best music venues in London. There is real ambience and comfortable feel as soon as you enter and you almost feel like you’re in someone’s(albeit larger than some) living room, that’s how cosy it is. The lighting is dim — and flattering, so perhaps a good date venue if you like music! Just make sure you get there early enough to grab a seat or sofa as they go like hotcakes. The main bar upstairs took a long time to get served at — fair enough it was a Thursday night and as we all know Thursday is the new Friday — and the service was okay but nothing special. There is a bar downstairs in the basement where the music venue is but for some reason it wasn’t full stocked. It is located well, a short walk from Farringdon and Barbican tubes and also served by many a bus.

I wrote a review of he Slaughtered Lamb not too long ago, and only gave it four stars. How wrong I was! Granted, this review is more about the music venue that the Lamb runs on in the basement. The Slaughtered Lamb’s music venue is just spectacular. It’s dimly, yet lambently and comfortably lit. There are many couches and chaises in the little room, but I recommend getting there a bit early to grab a spot at the bar. A friend and I went to see The Title Sequence and Zoey Van Goey. Check them out, they’re great. Anyways, about twenty minutes into the show, I counted between forty-five and fifty people in the room. It was such good atmosphere, it was busy and crowded, but it was not at all uncomfortable. Later on, there must have been about one hundred people, but it was not at all oppressive. The room is set up in such a way that the band is not on a stage, but simply play right in front of the patrons. The Lamb is intimate enough that the bands talked and joked with the audience between sets and songs. It may just have been that the two acts I saw were really friendly, but he musicians were milling around, drinking and hanging out with the patrons. It was great. One of my favourite things about the Lamb is that the audience was actually there to listen and enjoy the music, not just drink and be loud. All in all, it was perfect. You should go!

Interesting pub with a downstairs function room. There appeared to be some kind of pole dancing class taking place when we visited! Does have a decent selection of drinks, although unfortunately both ales were off at the time of my visit. They did have a chilli beer however that did make up for this slightly. Their IPA on the fizz tap wasn’t too hot though. From a décor perspective this pub is a bit of a mixture, with a very modern front, but the back wall has an old style wallpaper and a fireplace. This place could be worth another visit to check that if the ale being off is normal or just an aberration.
