Great pub in St John’s Wood with friendly staff and good food and beer selections. Had Sunday Roast and was great. a strawberry/rhubarb crumble with crème anglaise was wonderful! very accommodating staff — great atmosphere. clean and quick. well done!

Came here with my family on a recommendation from our hotel. It was okay. Food was fine but really too expensive for what they gave. I enjoyed the fish and chips though. I couldn’t get into the tarter sauce or whatever they gave with it. It just didn’t seem like a really comfortable atmosphere. Plus, when I went to use the restroom downstairs I bumped my head on the short ceiling.

Went to the Salt House one night for dinner and watched the game and had the best fish and chips! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to watch the game and get a good bite to eat

I’ve been here a few times and used the upstairs room for a meeting. The bar staff are a friendly and smiley lot and you never have to wait long to get served. Even when it is busy, they always seem to have enough staff on for the demand. When having a meeting, we have been politely asked if we want more drinks or snacks bought up to us, which is a real touch as nobosy really wants to leave the meeting and go downstairs to the bar, so this is most appreciated. I have been here just once for a drink(as in not when I’ve been going to a business meeting) and it was really quite good. We sat outside on the tables, and had a really good evening. When it started to get a bit nippy they put on the patio heaters for us. All in all a really pleasant place to go, good staff and realtively priced.

Gorgeous pub in very pleasant, upmarket St John’s Wood. Lots of tables outside so excellent for smokers although they could do with some heaters. Expensive but the staff were super kind when I visited with a friend who only has one arm. While I reserved a smoking table a barman helped my friend bring our drinks outside. Richly decorated, old-fashioned pub with plants in the smoking area. My only recommendation is that they could provide some newspapers for patrons to read.

Service started off bad(took a long time for the waitress to come over and take our order), but improved after our order was taken. Food was pretty good. I had the Fish and Chips. It came with mushy peas and homemade tarter sauce. I also had a pint of their wheat beer, which was good. I found it hard finding places in London that served wheat beer, so it was nice to have one here. Atmosphere was nice, but the food and drinks were pretty expensive. We ordered 3 fish and chips, 1 burger, 2 beers, 2 wines and 2 cokes. The bill came out to 90 pounds or 143 dollars. This included a 12.5% service charge. If it was cheaper, I would give this place another star. I don’t think I would go back. If the service was better and the food/drinks were a bit cheaper, I would consider trying this place again.

Nice atmosphere inside the restaurant. There is an outdoor seating as well as indoor seating area. The food was good. I ordered the basil crusted chicken and my husband ordered the smoked Haddock. They were both good, but perhaps a bit overpriced for the portion and quality. The main downside was our waiter, who seemed to be annoyed to have to be working that night. He would abruptly come to our table, act annoyed and not make eye contact with us. He seemed this way with all tables. He would ask us a question, we would answer and he would leave immediately not giving us any time to ask him anything. Kind of comical how unprofessional he was. Definitely don’t go here for the service, ambiance maybe :)

Solid all around. Stopped here for their Sunday Roast(my favorite meal of the week) after a local friend recommended it. The restaurant area was close to empty so we choose to eat in more bussling the bar area. The drink special(gray goose with housemade lemonade) was tart but good. The starter of a carrot and thyme soup was delightfully tasty and hit the spot since the bar was getting a bit chilly. The roast beef with trimmings of green beans, crispy roasted potatoes, cabbage, and yorkshire pudding was on point with a delicious gravy. All in all, a solid place for a solid meal.

I’ve visited the salt house a few times for dinner. The food and service have always been excellent. Whether sitting in, dining in the courtyard or just having a drink out front, there’s always a nice atmosphere. One problem we did find on my most recent visit was lack of variety of interestng vegetarian main courses, my girlfriend ended up ordering a combination of two starter dishes, which wasn’t ideal but the food was very nice. Other than we would visit again.

I love this place! I was first introduced to The Salt House for a company happy hour back in August, and have been going there ever since! The wait staff are super helpful and pleasant, food is amazingly good(highly recommend the burger or the pork belly), and everything is very reasonably priced! Ideal for a casual drink with friends or a dinner date. Also, they have random specials during the week so check their website before heading over.

With mixed crowd this place is a good hangout. Cocktails are good. With excellent music pub area is more fun.

Had a really bad experience with the meals here. If you don’t have the products for a certain meal, do not put it in the menu, OK?

A Greene King gastro pub, could there be a worse bar? I actually kind of like their wooden tables and their large carbon skidmark of a heated back garden, but unless they let me BYOB then there is nothing worth drinking on them or in it! Probably not too bad if you like cocktails or wine to be fair, but nothing here for me. First time I have drunk Becks in years!

We loved this place. found out about it in the bar at the Maida Vale Marriott which is a short walk(10 minutes) the service was great. food was excellent. we had separate appetizers and shared the rib eye with peppercorn sauce. wine list was limited.

OK pub food. It was more amazing some years back. Now… not sure I would make the walk down Abbey Road.

Ahhhh, back to the comfort of 5 years ago… This pub was my local when i lived just up Abbey Road and I possibly spent more time there than in my house. I was elated to see when i visited he other night that not much has changed. Well-heeled locals mix in the dining room, at the wooden rustic tables in the front bar, or outside on long picnic tables under braziers. There was a dodgy remodelling a few years back — gone were the blackboards of wine lists and cheery gastro-pub vibe, replaced with a dark, velvety bordello décor. Thank goodness the folly didn’t last long and now it’s back to it’s comforting, friendly self.

The Salt House has been a fixture on Abbey Road for a fair while now(during which time it has even been renamed, and returned to being called The Salt House…) and has slowly but surely declined in both service and quality. There was a time when you could have a drink at the bar in a buzzy atmosphere, then head to one of the tables in the restaurant for real quality food, served by attentive, friendly staff. This seems to be no longer the case… The numerous visits I have made over the last 18 months have left me feeling overcharged for run of the mill food, served by staff that don’t really care, as they will pick up their 12.5% service either way. I have even spent a New Years there in the past, but will give it a miss from now on, which is a big shame!

This pub is pretty nice, and the night I went I really enjoyed the music(Aretha, anyone?!) but something about the place just feels a bit flat to me. There wasn’t much atmosphere, which might have been because it wasn’t very busy for a Friday night. It’s nice that there is a lot of outdoor seating and I love the old-fashioned red phonebooth right outside. Oh, and then the barmaid was collecting glasses at the end of the night and spilled half a glass of wine on me. That was annoying.
