Great little find in London. Was looking for a place for an after dinner drink and this popped up on Unilocal. Was exactly what I was after, excellent wine list, very friendly. Tried a delicious Sicilian red wine. The menu looked so great we went back for dinner the next night, lots of snack, shareable dishes that made up a great dinner. Very delicious mushrooms with crispy polenta and some slated cod fritters(one of my favourite foods). There is an oyster happy hour all day Saturdays and we enjoyed delicious briney oysters. Wines by the glass are on the pricier side but considering everything I had was delicious, rather than the rubbish that is so often served in London pubs and bars, I actually think it is pretty decent value. Will definitely be back next time I am in London.

Really lovely neighbourhood wine bar. Guaranteed amazing wine whatever you order. Staff know the stuff and if they haven’t tried something they will look it up and will guide you in the right direction when you are ordering. Most of the wines are natural, minimal intervention or new age wine making from all over the world. You really can’t go wrong. The collection of bottles regularly changes so if you are a regular, you can expect different wines to choose from each time. There is usually a really interesting orange wine there to check out. They have an oyster happy hour 4−6pm(£1/oyster) and Monday nights there is half priced bottles. There is also a range of dinner worthy snacks to soak up the wine with such as sausage, cheese, crudités and an array of amazing sounding small plates(eg smoked duck salad). And don’t forget the desserts! The food menu also changes weekly. For those needing a break from wine; they do cocktails too. Sit at the bar and make some new friends!

I pass by the Remedy on my way to work everyday — I just HAD to try it at some point. My flatmate and I went there after a particularly stressful day at the office. The place is small but welcoming and buzzing, the terrace is very often full. They had no table for us but we were sat at the bar as other people were leaving. The staff was friendly and helpful. My friend had a glass of Orange wine(the Don Chischiote). You’ve never heard of it? Neither had we, and we’re regular wine drinkers. Turns out it’s a white wine that is supposed to have some of the qualities of a red(according to their menu). Technically, it’s a wine made with white wine grapes but that macerates with the skin, like a red would. And it is indeed a very different type of white wine. A nice discovery, I almost regretted playing it much safer with my glass of Vin nu(nice red, almost earthy). Both glasses were around £7 or £8 if I remember correctly. Though we only had olives some of the other clients ordered food and the £12 platters(cheese from Androuet or charcuterie) seemed pretty good. They also have oysters if you fancy and some small plates and snacks to choose from. I can’t remember everything but their menu(drinks and food) is available on their website! It’s so close to work that we’ll definitely be back.

This place is pretty solid and a lovely change from the inauthentic wine bars that pop up… this place is local, authentic, neighborhoody. This is a place that leads with wine over everything else and the owner and the staff know their stuff and have a massive passion for what they are doing. They have small plates, cheeses and meats with a pan-European feel. I give rave reviews for the cheese plate – not your usual Neals Yard, La Fromagerie, Mons stuff but some really off-the-beaten path cheeses(like the wines) that were really good. They also had amazing olives. The food was good too – nothing mind-blowing but solid and enjoyable. The small plates were what everyone is serving these days – mozzarella and tomatoes, asparagus with proscuitto, etc. But we did hear that they are going to be refining the menu soon and making some upgrades. The ambiance needs a little more love(it was maybe too bright and I didn’t love the décor) but I’d go back in a heartbeat for the intimate feel, amazing wine, great service and good food.

This is probably going to read like one of those fake OTT reviews that Unilocal tries to filter out because they’ve blatantly been written by the owner’s best mate… but I really cannot praise this little gem of a place enough. It’s so easy to walk past it without knowing what’s behind the front windows and I actually found it accidentally online. I organised a wine-tasting session here as part of my 30th bday celebrations, and was so pleased that I discovered it. I’d chatted to a guy called Danny in the run up about my budget and what I wanted — a non-stuffy, fun and chilled vibe — and they delivered that and more. They opened exclusively for us from 2−4pm and organised some fun wine tasting games for us in teams of 5, where we were tasting blind and matching notes to drinks to test everyone’s tastebuds(and BS skills ;) Their Italian chef also did some great food pairings with different nibbles with each wine and we were very grateful to line the stomach a little! Danny and David were the sweetest hosts and took very good care of us — topping up glasses so as to use all the wine and clearly knowledgeable about what they do. The wine they’d chosen was also delish(well mostly) as they gave us a cava to start, two whites, two reds and a questionable orange(go try it for yourself!). They focus on small independent producers so will always have some interesting things to taste. They will work with whatever budget you have in mind — I went for £25pp and thought the whole experience was great value for money for that. I will definitely be back — they created a really warm and fun atmosphere for us, reinforced by the cosy feel of the bar itself with its exposed brick, chalk menu and fairy lights. The sound of 25 of my closest mates laughing and having such a good time made me a very happy birthday girl indeed :)

Within the craziness that is London, this is a quaint oasis! We came here just before 10 on a Saturday night, enticed by a simple yet inviting interior, and fun-looking regulars enjoying themselves to a glass or two at the bar. Thankfully, we arrived just before the kitchen closed, too! They offer an extensive wine list, obviously, with multiple pages of bottles. We were aiming for different wines, so didn’t spend much time surveying the full list of bottles, but maybe next time. Thankfully, they also offer 4 or 5 selections each of red and white by the glass, and even a few special selections from their cellar. I ordered a lamb stew, and my wife ordered something with pastry crust and butternut squash. Both dishes were simple, yet flavorful and marvelously cooked. Superb! For the wine, my wife ordered a South African Chenin Blanc at first. I had a Loire Valley-red of the Gamay grape which was quite tasty, and then moved on to a Borolo from their special selection of cellar wine-by-the-glass. I won’t dwell on the wines themselves, since they likely change often, but a quick story on my wife’s wine. Chenin Blanc, being a big-deal grape in South Africa, seemed like a good choice with her meal. However, the particular example was almost undrinkable, very sour, and with a vomit-like aroma. It opened up a bit with her food, but still was not great. When the gentleman behind the bar stopped by to check on us and discuss the wines, she politely suggested her wine was not quite what she was looking for. A few moments later, without asking, he brought a different glass over for her to try, compliments of the house. Awesome! Maybe he was flirting with my wife? I don’t know, and I don’t care because, hey, free booze! Overall, a really top-notch experience of food and wine. The atmosphere was relaxed and unpretentious, something which I think is hard to find in London.

We happened to come here as a group for an evening of wine and food. I used to frequent the neighborhood and it’s become a hotspot for good food. Honey and Co are just around the corner and this place is definitely up and coming too. The wine list here is absolutely wonderful and I’ve not seen orange wine at many(or any) other London restaurant, especially when I had the opportunity of trying it when I visited Slovenia a few years ago. The chef is italian, so the food choices here veer more along those lines. But whilst the food is good(but not knock myself over backwards good), the wine is where this place really is at. We had a try of a Barolo, Barbaresco, a few other italian wines and one that was so full bodied and flavoured I had to have food with it. All in all, a great small, cosy place to bring a friend or two back to to enjoy a good wine filled evening out.
