Right, so this used to be my local when I lived in Streatham. I moved away and recently met up with a friend and we decided for old times sake to have dinner at the Railway. I’ve had high expectations because it used to be so good there which is probably why I’ve left slightly disappointed. It’s still good — but just not as good! For example — the chips used to be lovely chunky cut now they are skinny and factory made looking and the onions rings had shrunken to the size of a mini doughnut when they used to be massive! It’s still pretty tasty and one of the best pubs in Streatham and still one of my faves in London overall! I wonder if they are struggling?

I also love this place. I spend there almost every Friday nighty and there are no kids, even more there is quality beer, nice music and pleasant people. Recommended!

Previously faultless food from friendly staff seems to have declined. A new chef apparently being the problem but 1 hour wait for simple starters is beyond a joke. The bar staff were beyond reproach and helpful but the amount of people that walked out was a sign duly taken. Sad but I will likely give them another chance

Having moved to the area just over a year ago I was concerned about the lack of pubs that were any decent. However the Railyway pub just outside Streatham common station is great. Only open from 5pm each day it served great food and beer. The wine list is excellent, but the friendly staff make is a pleasure to go there. As an update to my previous review this pub has gone from strength to strength and the food we had on Sunday was comparable with some of the expensive gastro-pubs in terms of quality without the price tag. They have also added some great canopies outside which add a good colour to the place.
