Popped in here last night excellent choice of beers and good cocktails and reasonably priced would definitely recommend a visit if in area

The atmosphere of the bar is good, has a unique feel to it. Decorated with beer bottles wall to wall, brass pipe works and split levels all make for an engaging atmosphere. The down side is the size vs service. The multiple bars throughout are only opened during peak times so the trek to the main bar, plus wait time for service really takes you away from being able to enjoy their range of beers.

The Porterhouse is an unusual place… It’s dark, it’s slightly odd smelling and it’s layout is really bizarre! You end up walking around in circles and ending up in the same place you started… What?! They’ve got a good selection of drinks on offer, very wide in fact, and they are reasonably priced for a pub located on the outskirts of Covent Garden. My friends used to drink in here every weekend when I lived in London and we really liked the place, it had a cool vibe and nice outside seating area(although getting a seat… good luck!) The foods ‘ok’, nothing special, and again, it’s reasonably priced, not expensive, not cheap. The staff were always busy, and so smiles were in short supply… which is one thing I don’t like — I’m really big into my customer service and I like a smile with my order… which I don’t think is a big ask really. One other thing is that during the daytime, if you sit upstairs, there;s a few tables that are right out of the way and you can actually relax a little bit and enjoy yourself without all the hustle and bustle of the downstairs action. Overall a nice place, and I recommend it for a quiet drink during the weekday and a hectic evening on a nighttime, don’t even get me started on a Friday and Saturday night!

This pub is adorable. The upstairs and downstairs set up makes it seem quite cozy despite its pretty large space. Good selection of beers, and showing all the football games. Seemed like a great place to start a night!

I didn’t think this place was anything special and I wouldn’t spend a whole night here, but it’s definitely a good place to start your night if you’re in the area. It’s got a fun vibe, isn’t overly pricey and it’s huge with loads of seating areas so it’s good if you’re in a big group. Something else I would suggest is buying as many drinks as possible in one round because service is a bit slow…

The extensive craft beer menu and fun atmosphere make this place a worthwhile visit for the tourist and local alike. The Porterhouse is a multi-story, high-capacity Irish pub in a trendy area of London. Curse my American bias, but I’ll be damned if this place’s labyrinth-like interior didn’t remind me of something out of Harry Potter. Although the maze of the place can be a little frustrating at times, it is also really fun. The dimly lit and crowded space supplies the charm and vigor someone looking to kick back a pint or two with friends might be looking for. If you manage to find a seat or an area to kick back and relax, you’ll find that this place’s extensive beer and spirits menu has something for most to enjoy. I’m partial to craft beer and high-end whiskey, so The Porterhouse’s menu was right up my alley. I enjoyed a few craft beers and a wonderful, discounted glass of Macallan. What would’ve been a double-digit price was only 6 pounds when the bartender indicated that they were out of their whiskey of the week. The courtesy was not lost on me. I thoroughly enjoyed the drink and it helped make my afternoon with friends a delight. Overall, The Porterhouse is an energetic and quirky spot that is certainly worth your time and curiosity. Highly recommend.

Where was I this evening between 7−9pm I hear you say? Sipping whiskey at the PorterHouse in their Dingle Whiskey bar baby!!! For a pub I think it gets top stars! I don’t frequent pubs… EVERRRRRRR! Yes I’m a pub snob… sue me… But this place didn’t feel like it at all! Firstly it was a maze! Stairs to the left. stairs to the right… stairs on the walls! Wonderland had nothing on this! Anyhoo, we made our way into the whiskey dingle bar which was lovelyyyyyyyy oh my! I felt like a Russian boss man! We sipped fine whiskeys accompanied by chocolates and foie gras… Ahhhhh this is the life! Oh and it was packed with a few lookers in suits! Looks like all the Christian grey lookalikes head here after work lol … Nice

The Porterhouse had slipped out of my consciousness for several years after a spate of visits. I was therefore long overdue another trip. We went on a Friday and was a bit nervous that it would be so packed there would be nowhere to stand/perch//sit or just generally«be». However, as the other reviews make clear this place is so big there is always somewhere to stand if you can’t get a seat. It generally consists of a basement with a large bar, the ground floor which again has a large bar and the upstairs which has a smaller bar and two or three distinct areas. The upstairs sort of wraps round the pub and there is lots of standing room where you can look down on the other drinkers. The ground floor tends to be very dark whilst the lighting upstairs is a little higher whilst still being subdued. The Porterhouse brews its own beer. I tried the following brews; Red Ale(4.2%)(very bland) The Plain Porter(4.2%)(bland) The Oatmeal Stout(bland) The Pale Ale(can’t recall name) This was in my opinion the nicest of the bunch with a good hoppy tang. I’m afraid I wasn’t impressed with the beers though it’s only my opinion. If I want really excellent craft ales I’ll go to a Brewdog bar. That said, I liked the Porterhouse very much. There aren’t many places where you can wander round a pub on a voyage of exploration and then get hopelessly lost on your way back from the toilets. I shan’t leave it another six years…

Fun place to come to mix things up from a regular pub. Live music on Saturday night playing rock covers(maybe other nights as well?) Drinks aren’t super expensive. Enjoyed some pints of the pale ale then moved to gin and tonics. Lots of floors to be on but the basement was where the music was.

The place is huge and they have a wide selection of beers. The staff was friendly and did the job well. I thought it would take a long time because of the size of the place, but everything was served pretty quickly. It was 6pm on a Sunday and they didn’t have any more draft beers though. Very good fish and chips.

We visited the Porterhouse to watch a Rugby World Cup quarter final game. Outside is a decent sized smoking area with umbrellas, tables, chairs and a screen. Outdoor heaters would be a pleasant addition for the winter! Inside the Irish pub is like a rabbit warren — split over three or four floors, there are multiple bars, ante-rooms, nooks and crannies. It was well set-up for the rugby, with a huge number of screens of all different sizes in various areas. We found a bench tucked into a corner which did us nicely(although we would have struggled for a seat if we’d turned up less than 20 mins before the game). I’ve walked past the Porterhouse many times and always thought it looked somewhat intimidating. Having actually ventured inside though, I would definitely return, particularly to watch a game.

The inside of the Porterhouse feels like an MC Escher drawing: steel staircases criss-cross the space leading to and from the varying levels. It’s nicely done. In this large space, that makes it quite easy to find a cozy corner to sit with friends and have a pint. There are several service spots. So you’re never far from your next tall boy. TVs dot the walls in places. So, if you situate yourself right on the floor or one of the many catwalks, it can be easy to watch a match. They have a good selection of beer and the service was quite good. There’s a healthy-size patio out front. And it’s centrally located. Only complaint: it’s very popular. So get here early or prepare to fight the crowds.

When you first walk into the absolute cavern that is The Porterhouse you think, how could this place ever get busy?! But get busy it does, and reasonably early on too. You can’t make a booking on Saturdays and their live acts go on at 8 to a crowd. It’s a good place to take a break from the crowds in Covent Garden, and even catch the football. The food is reasonable pub fare, nothing to rave about, but still good. And there are loads of tables and spaces and nooks and crannies to set yourself up in for a night of drinks and laughs with a group of people — just what you want from a pub really.

I love how big this place is, though it doesn’t look it from outside, so you can always find a place to perch. I love the crazy staircases that make you feel like you’re in an Escher painting, or Hogwarts, that link all the levels together and make you feel like you may never get back out to the ground floor where you started. I love the overload of shiny lacquered wood around the bar, and more so the handbag-sized lower ‘shelf’ set into the side of it. I love that it’s open for another hour after the bars opposite have already called last orders. I do NOT love the house gin. It’s called something like Dingle. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled by gin-ducational Unilocal events, who knows. But I can objectively say — it’s awful. Avoid that and it’s a great place to pop in for a drink!

This is my go-to bar in Covent Garden. The space is really big, so on average days there’s lots of places to stand, maybe even sit, both inside and outside. They have a really great and constantly changing selection of ales on tap. They’re quick to pay and they don’t have credit card surcharges and stuff. It’s hugely popular, so if you think you’re gonna duck in for a quick pint on a Thursday night at 18:00, think again. But if you plan to settle down and enjoy a couple pints for a while, it’s worth your time.

Spacious beer house in Covent Garden! Not overcrowded! Plenty of beer choices :) and outdoor heated tables is a huge plus. There is live music, which is refreshing, and plenty of seating/tables if you feel like sitting and chatting as opposed to standing on the floor in front of the band. Only negative is it closes sooooooo early(midnight) even on a Saturday!!!

I’m a bit meh on this place. It’s incredibly dark and difficult to find your way around, and there’s no way of knowing when your food is coming — one member of our party didn’t get his food until the rest of us were nearly done(and all he by far had the simplest dish). That said, they have a good(albeit expensive) beer selection. One to visit if you’re in the area and looking for a good drink, but that’s probably about it.

Porterhouse is a complete maze of floors and stairs but once you’ve worked out how to get from your table to the bar you’re fine! A couple of friends were visiting London and staying in Covent Garden a few weekends ago and we met up for Sunday lunch. Whilst deciding where to go I found it really hard to find somewhere that did a good Sunday roast and wasn’t ridiculously expensive close to Covent Garden. Until we came across Porterhouse and decided to give it a go. It was really dark inside so we sat outside on the tables in front of the building. It was just about warm enough whilst we ate. The Sunday roast was good and it was great value for money for central London. It wasn’t as hot as I would have liked but didn’t say anything as I imagine it would have just been blasted in the microwave! It was better than some roasts I’ve paid double the amount for though. There is a special offer if you order two courses. We failed to order dessert at the same time to get the offer but after a little gentle persuasion they did let us order our desserts at the cheaper price afterwards which was great. I had the sticky toffee pudding and it was fairly moist and wasn’t too sweet. We then moved inside as it got colder out and had a drink in the bar. Football was on one screen and gailic football was on another so it’s probably a good place to watch sports if you’re into that. I’d finally go again. You get a decent meal, good portion size and very reasonably priced, especially for being in Covent Garden.

I really like this bar. the design is like a strange maze of sections. Hard to explain. But the last time coming here it was far to sunny and warm to sit indoors. So we sat in the garden and started our drinking day. The beer here is really nice. The ales are lovely. But shockingly the lager has a distinct flavour when ususally lager kinda taste the same. I can’t remember the name of the lager, but it was on draft. One of the things that bothers me about drinking in pubs in London… is they all sell the SAME beer. Your typical bitter, 2 different types of typical lager and a stout. But here you’ll find something other than fosters! After about 3 pints, moved on to cocktails. I wasn’t impressed. And it wasn’t cheap. no boose in my cocktail and too much sugar! But overall… lovely place. In my top 10 favs!

My friend brought me to the Porterhouse Brewing Co. to give me a real pub dining experience while in London. Honestly I think moreso than anything else we just stumbled upon it. Most people were stood ’round the bar having their brews but we grabbed a table as we were also grabbing a bite. The usual thing with similar establishments in England is you order your food & drinks up at the bar and then they will usually bring your food to your table for you. I tried their Porterhouse Red Ale and loved it! Served at room temp from the tap, as most beers in England. Had a twinge of fruit with malt plus it was a pretty bright red — I’m a girl after all and it doesn’t hurt for my beer to look pretty. Although, my friend informed me that everyone would think I was a lesbian because ladies in the UK just do not drink beer. I assure you I like the fellas but I also do enjoy the pints. The interior is very cool with hidden seating spots, awesome woodwork abound, just a really nice looking place and super chill. It was a mix of families and drinkers on a Friday afternoon. I’d definitely return to The Porterhouse!

Ein super Pub in Covent Garden! Echt gute Auswahl an vielen verschiedenen Bieren.
