Pretty frustrating, I had been wanting to try the Plough for ages and i came on a sunday night around 7pm and the roast was completely sold out and the waitress didn’t seem to have a clue what was going on…

Bar staff worked really hard, but it’s a tiny little bar with only space for 2 people behind the bar. Drinks and food both good… would definitely recommend this place for meeting up with mates.

I was in charge of choosing a restaurant that a big and international group of friends would be happy with. I figured most people like burgers and comfort food and would appreciate quality and a modern twist — so the winner was The Plough near Clapham Junction. Both the space and the food were loved by everyone! There was a DJ and the music was extremely loud, which was a bit annoying during dinner, but it motivated us to stay for drinks and even dance a little in the bar area. A great night!

I haven’t eaten here, so I can’t speak for the food(hence why it’s a 4*) but when I visited, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, they even asked if I wanted a *fresh* lime and soda instead of bottled stuff(you’re not often voluntarily offered the choice in bars, so that was refreshing!), and the drinks were reasonably priced. The décor is also very quirky, and it’s the kind of place that’s far more interesting on the inside than it looks from the outside. I’ll definitely be back, and maybe, once I’ve tried the food, it’ll be upgraded to a 5* review!

Great environment, but pricey for what you get(if eating). Great place for drinks though

For this Yankee, the Plough Bar & Grill was a nice evening out in a comfortable environment. Friendly service, too. We enjoyed trying some traditional foods — fish & chips, and calamari for starter — all very good. I also discovered a hidden love of mashed peas that I didn’t know I had. Others in my group enjoyed sea bass, and steak — all of which were thoroughly enjoyed.

OMG. Truffle Fries. Corgette Sliders with black garlic mayo. Enough said. My boyfriend and I had a hard time finding delicious, vegetarian friendly food on our trip around the UK. We stayed near Clapham Junction and loved this place so much that we had dinner here two nights in a row.

It was good the first few times we went there. Then it slowly went downhill. The service is now very slow. I also don’t like a lot of «hair» on my chicken wings which they seem to think is okay. It looks to me as if they may have changed management and the current employees just don’t care.

We had a very disappointing brunch here a few weeks ago. It took us a long time to have our orders taken and then a long time for the food(followed by the drinks!) to arrive. The menu had a Bloody Mary(vodka) and Bloody Maria(tequila). Three from our table ordered a Maria, and one ordered a Mary. Four Marys arrived and we pointed out the mistake — the bloke that took our order returned to the table and said«a Bloody Maria is Bloody Mary» and we pointed out that both were stated separately on the menu(by the way, we’re not talking an extensive cocktail menu here, these two were the only cocktails stated on the brunch menu). He went and got a menu, and to his credit he then came and apologised. I, as one of the Maria camp accepted one of the already made Marys and the bar staff made up a couple of Marias. The place was not full but the kitchen staff were struggling — I think if you’re going to have an open kitchen you want your kitchen staff to appear competent. They appeared to be making one breakfast at a time… The food was OK/average and I don’t think we’ll bother again!

So this is a Youngs Pub, not the norm! I went in a few Fridays ago and the customers were very rough and they were allowed to play there own music via some Decks by there table! Very strange and the music was awful. The place looked really nice inside, apart from it felt way to open and not cosy at all. It was pretty pricey and the service average at best. Looks like Youngs are trying something different, but it not for me! Kx

Bar with a studied distressed shabby chic look that takes it into the girl friendly arena, and certainly the night we went it was mostly girly nights out with friends. Perfectly fine place and not too packed for a Friday night, which was good. The various mini plates sounded interesting and are good to share, but quality of the food was really very ordinary, not dissimilar to bar food in many of the trendy chain bars.

If you love an Anglo-American inspired place to eat then this is the place to visit around Clapham Junction. It’s near the station only a 2 minute walk; and with the Boston Burger(a burger with PEANUTBUTTER) and the Big Easy available, it’s no wonder this place is always busy during the week and weekends. Booking is almost a must at the weekends as it’s a regular hot spot for a great night out if you want a great atmosphere. I love the DJ’s playing every Friday and Saturday to boost your mood and get you dancing. The Indoor Beer Garden is a cool and funky way of injecting the Clapham ‘cool’ into a pub it’s definitely worth checking out. They’ve even held a Plough Fest during the summer of 2012 and have their very own Mr. Ploughie twitter feed as a hilarious twist to the normal pub twitter(which is equally informative and regularly updated). Regular events are held each month to keep you coming back. Worth going to I’ve made it my local!

Mini portions of chipolte mac & cheese, a very reassuringly post mid-twenties crowd, and the kind of shabby chic interior that is ‘so now’(think oversized clocks and fancy hanging lights combined with mis-matched furniture)…What’s not to love about The Plough? If you’re thinking slouchy Sunday rather trashy Thursday, you’ll be glad you took the road less travelled to this CJ gem.

I went to the Plough for food on a busy Saturday night in the run up to Christmas. The place was packed with a mixture of diners and Saturday night drinkers but both camps were well catered for. We had to wait around 20 minutes for a table to become free but the waiting staff made sure we were not forgotten. The food was good, for starters I had what seemed like mini pork burgers although I can’t remember the name and for the main course I had a steak. By the time dessert came around I was too full. Overall I was impressed with the level of service and the quality of food served, I would definitely like to come back in future.

Super cute place with absinthe, but they don’t know how to make into a cocktail. Weird. But maybe there is not absinthe rule on Mondays, no idea. Needless to say I didn’t stay long, but the staff were friendly and directed me in the direction of where such a cocktail can be had. The décor is nice, rustic flooring, and a what looked like comfy couches. A very nice space.

They say it’s Anglo-American. I guess, Anglo because of its location and it’s not too much in your face :) American because go and try it! …cool place for every weather and liking!
