What can I say, I rather like this pub. While the beers on offer are uninteresting and there is not a lot of space, these negatives are more than made up for by the warmth of welcome from the bartenders and the locals. Certainly a traditional boozer rather than a gastropub but non the worse for it. I like to come here in the winter and warm up next to the open fire with a well earned(?) beer in hand.

The three stars isn’t for the pub itself, but rather for the fantastic thai food cooked by a little man and woman upstairs. If I was evaluating the pub, it would get one star(slightly redeemed by the amazing mix of locals in here at any given hour of the day). But the thai food is the real deal. A little on the pricey side(6 pounds for pad thai in a smaller portion then I’m used to), but doing without the load of grease, sugar and MSG I find in other places is completely worth it. Plus, they make it as spicy as I want. And it’s ready in about 10 minutes. Excellent for takeaway, but if you eat-in, make sure to bring hand sanitizer and a health appreciation for the atmosphere.
