My local(so much so that they know my drink, ahem…) We do lots of drinks meetings and lunches here at TMW, and we all love this place dearly. ALL of the staff are brilliant, super friendly and provide great service. Food is fab(but does take a while to come out) — I can highly recommend both the fishcake and the open steak sandwich. Yes it gets busy at times, but we rarely reserve tables unless we’re eating — so it can’t be that bad :) We’re moving to Soho in a few weeks and this place will be SORELY missed. Good job I live just round the corner!

Berry Ale, not so great. Atmosphere fantastic, food delicious. Lively sophisticated scene. No be too cliché but the fish n’ chips were outstanding. And the sticky toffee pudding also a must. If your not counting calories, go for both!

I had been here several times with friends, it is near my place and it is not that typical pub full with drunken guys. The food is better than the most pubs but not as quality as restaurant. The prices are reasonable and the service is OK. Warm atmosphere, give it a try if you are nearby.

My local. A modern little gastro-pub hidden in a side street off the Kings road. Great food, an eclectic beer selection and a very friendly and welcoming manager. Tell them Ryan sent you.

Nice local boozer in that upmarket Chelsea way. Maybe its a pub for those who don’t really fancy pubs, more of a bar-pub. But classic pub lovers have no fear as the place will still satisfy. Cozy, warm, inviting interior with worn in sofas, a few tables and chairs and a communal bar table. In the back is small candlelit dining room. The bar is well stocked with choices from beer to a trendy yet affordable selection of wines. While I can’t say that the staff are the friendliest, and I don’t understand why asking for the simple things results in blank looks from them, they are the weakest link at this establishment. But I think what brings people in, and back, is that it is friendly and accessible space where friends and locals can meet. The location, tucked on a street just off King’s Road makes it a convenient stop to rest your feet. After work they pass out complimentary hors d’oeuvres to nibble with drinks. While I wouldn’t go as far as to call this a gastro pub the changing menu offers some satisfying food options. Overall a good local place to meet friends.

Very nicely decorated, relaxing gastro pub with a really good atmosphere. Fairly typical menu for such a place in London with prices not too high — a pleasant surprise for this part of town. I had the calves liver with bacon on mashed potatoes and green beans. It was a right-sized portion and reasonable value at £13.95. It was this dish which lowered my rating to 4 stars because, while there was nothing wrong with it, it did not melt in the mouth as 5 star calves liver should do. My partner had a salmon fishcake, again with green beans. It was only one fishcake but huge and at £9.95 again a reasonable value. She pronounced it excellent. We shared a bottle of house red which was very well chosen and very good value. One notable positive was that, unusually for a pub, there was no trouble getting a jug of tap water for the table and it was refilled without asking. I will definitely return.

And so to The Phoenix on a Friday night, with some mates. It’s a tidy little corner pub in that quite-hard-to-get-to bit of Chelsea. It’s a Friday, so the place is pretty full. Actually, it’s sweltering in here. The air con is broken? OK, let’s open a window. What? You can’t? OK, let’s just sit here and roast like a load of potatoes for an hour or two After about 30 seconds roasting, I was ready for a relaxing pint. Clearly, the bar staff were of the same view because they gave the impression of wanting to be anywhere other than Actually Doing Some Work. I eventually persuaded someone to pull me a pint of Doom. It was undrinkable, and had to be swapped for a pint of Guinness. A mate sent back his pint of lager! How on earth do you manage to stuff up a pint of lager, je me demande? These people clearly know nothing about keeping beer. Maybe they are in the wrong business. A good crowd — young, freshly-scrubbed looking. And there’s a nice little outdoor space, with comfy seating. But, this being London, at 10PM some Nazi comes round and tells you to stop enjoying yourself and go back into the sauna. No thanks, matey, I’m off to the Pig’s Ear. So, Mr Phoenix, it’s a Friday night and you’re beer’s off and so is the heating. After an hour in this place, so was I.

Decent boozer, with great selection of beer and wine. Comfortable but does get busy, so perhaps you should look to reserve a space at night. Welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of Kings Road shopping during the day. Sloane heavy, but then if you were offended by that you wouldn’t be in the area!

If you cannot be bothered with the excitement of going out but dont want to stay in, the Phoenix provides a nice balance. It is so cosy and comfortable, with soft lighting, comfy seats and no loud music. the food is just beautiful, so well prepared and comes at very reasonable prices. For wine lovers, the wine list is extensive and impressive. The Phoenix provides luxury treatment, food and drink and yet you are not completely intimidated because everything is so warm and calm. Bring your family, friends, or even go on your own if you need a quiet but thoroughly enjoyable night.
