The Lounge Salon nestles among Bermondsey’s little parade of shops and restaurants. I was lured in by the offer of a clipper cut for £13. My curly locks had become unruly in the extreme and were long overdue for pruning. I don’t really enjoy the indelicate ministrations of tobacco-fingered trolls who reign over our many fine barber shops, and for me, cheap haircuts tend to be endured, not enjoyed. So it was a great pleasure to experience the gentle attentions of my female stylist at the lounge. Conversation was in short supply, but she laughed at all my jokes and delivered the one of the kindest cuts I’ve ever had. A great sense of service, they even threw in a shampoo and rinse.
