New owners as of November. The previous owner was a chef and you can certainly feel his absence. But the food is ok still and they still do a very hearty roast. There’s a couple of share worthy starters like a mackerel pâté, chicken liver pâté and something with crudités. Make sure you specify if you want these out first. Then there’s things like burgers, and depending on the day/weather, shanks or other hearty pub foods. There are some healthier looking bits and pieces but I haven’t gone there because: pub. Very much a locals pub, filled with locals. The front bar is lovely and cosy, the back restaurant suits bigger groups in for Sunday lunch. The back is a big lovely beer garden perfect for a Sunday session or a summer after work drink to take advantage of some afternoon sun. And they have an excellent bar to sit at. Would love to see a new beer on their taps sometime. The beers are mainly big guys with a one or two crafties. The wine list is very easy going and easy drinking pub. Can’t complain there! There is WIFI in the front bar.

BEAUTIFUL. lovely little pub hidden away on the back streets of Mile End, I was luck enough to be introduced to this charming little pub. Drinks are cheap-ish(Watch out for the card minimum spend) and though I only treated myself to a plate of oven-baked chips, they were absolutely delicious, and the rest of the menu looked relatively decent prices, especially for London. There’s a really nice area out the back for all you smokers. Can get a little busy, and the pubs relatively small– lets call it cosy– so i’d reserve if you’re eating, or turn up early if you want a table but its really lovely out back if you can handle the cold TIP-The blankets? The strange wicker bin in the corner? They’re provided by the pub for you so take advantage!

We stumbled upon this place while walking in the area and it was a very nice surprise. The Lord Tredegar seems really small from the outside but actually has several rooms — a restaurant area, a conservatory and a beer garden! Very near Mile End but hidden from the busy area, this place is lovely for an evening with friends. The music is not too loud, and anyway you can choose it since there is a jukebox(I love jukeboxes!). They have some pretty good lagers and ales. I thought the one with the dragonfly on it(I can’t remember the name) was nice. Price is very reasonnableThe staff was friendly enough and even though we didn’t try it the food looked really good and they have options to accomodate everyone: burgers, healthy dishes, salmon, vegetarian lasagna… But mainly I’m giving it four stars because I loved the atmosphere. There was even a fireplace, and the seats were comfy, and it felt very British, which I love.

Oh, sweet memories are coming back. We used to come to this pub for a soup, meal or just a drink when wandering around Mile End neighbourhood. Nice English vibe, definitely want to come back when in London.

I would love to give this pub a 5 star review. We come here almost every weekend as the food, drinks and atmosphere in The Lord Tredegar are all great. Fantastic beer garden, jukebox, sharing platters, and lovely Sunday lunches. The owners have clearly given a lot of attention to the décor and ambience of the place, which make it almost a home from home. However, the staff are rude. We have, on numerous occasions, been ignored by the bar staff and waiters. We have also been arrogantly frowned upon(by the long haired barman in particular). We’ve even have conversations in the pub itself when this has happened to various members of our group. For this reason, the pub gets 3 stars. *whilst writing this review, the table next to us had a bad experience with the aforementioned barman!

Proper looking pub with a decent sized external area, right by the train line, which can be a bit of a shock if you are daydreaming! Between the pub and yard there is a third section that you might call a conservatory, the kitchen is here. Bit dear, the 7 pound cheese plate would have been my choice! The walls are covered with old pictures of UK seaside resorts. Had Fullers summer ale, which was decent. There were 3 other ales from their stable available.

Hidden away only a few streets north of Mile End tube station, The Lord Tredegar really is one to stop in on at any time of the week! Walking in the front door, you’re instantly met by an olde world bar flanked by a very traditional setting of bar stools and a fireplace. For me personally, the bar was fantastic! Stocked with all my favourite beers and spirits, and even carrying Leffe and Staropramn on tap! Out behind the bar, you’ll find a small yet warm restaurant area leading to a beautifully set conservatory and modern garden area! I’ve eaten here now several times and have yet to be able to fault any of the food… From the burgers to the belly pork, this place is one of the best informal places to come for good beer, and great food! Oh, and just one more thing… You have to have a go on the jukebox while you’re here for the night ;)

This is essentially someones front room in Mile End with a bigger TV… and more alcohol… and a faint smell of vomit… and incredibly cold toilets. That said the few times I’ve been there the landlord has been friendly. It’s obviously a pub for the locals and maybe if I didn’t go swanning in there, in American Apparel asking for a fruity wine spritzer and talking about the arts the atmosphere would be even friendlier. But if you fancy having an extremely quiet pint and don’t look like you’re fresh out of art college by all means try it.

This hidden gem is one of the East End’s best kept secrets. Sandwiched between quiet residential streets, The Lord Tredegar offers you a genuine, no-fuss enjoyable drinking experience. The interior is cosy and warm with lots of brass and wood and comfy seats, a proper pub. A wide range of lagers and ales are available at pretty reasonable prices. The landlord, whose name I forget now, seems like he belongs behind the bar. Really friendly and chatty with a stream of cheesy jokes, he actively seeks to engage with his clientele, not in a trying to fleece you manner but out of a genuine interest. The Tredegar provides outdoor seating and Sky TV, it’s the perfect place to watch a football or rugby game if, like me, you actually want to see the screen from your seat.
