Great tea and cosy place! Sad they’ve got rid off darts after refurb. Good local to catch some fresh air.

Casual boozer in Bow. Relatively inexpensive, but on the few occasions I’ve been there the food has been a bit underwhelming and the beer sometimes flat.

Popped in for a mid-evening drink on Tuesday evening, lots of seats and quick polite service. Drinks reasonably priced. Pub had several locals in, all of which were friendly. Good atmosphere.

A Youngs pub that is really made in warm weather(add an extra star!) by its small suntrap garden out front. It is a nice pub otherwise, just a shame it only serves one or two of the standard Young’s’ beers. Prisca Coborn was a generous, wealthy, local widow in the 17th century(her husband was a brewer).

I really liked the cosy vibe in here, from the bookshelf, to the individual hand towels in the bathrooms and inspirational quotes on the walls. Much prefer it to the Morgan Arms across the road. Food is proper pub grub with hearty portions x

We’ve been here twice on a visit from the States. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, it’s comfortable and not at all touristy. The house beers are good, but we especially liked the food. Everything is so very fresh, seemingly like from their garden that day. The Beef in Guinness Pie with fresh veggies is especially good, I’m hoping we can squeeze in one more trip back there before we leave for one more dish.

Bow Road isn’t the most exciting place to find real ale pubs. However, step but a a hundred metres(or maybe even less — my ability to judge distance is shaky at best) down Coborn Road, and you’ll find this gem of a Youngs pub. I should note that I’ve only been in lunchtime and mid afternoon — I’ve not visited this pub in the evening. However, I cannot fault the Coborn Arms as a lunchtime pub. Both the front outside patio and the interior are spotlessly clean. There is a vegetable garden out the side(which punters sadly cannot trespass on, though I was allowed to nick a wonderfully sweet and ripe cherry tomato after its harvest), and the interior of the pub is large and airy. There is a mixture of seating, from a few comfy sofas, to ‘normal’ pub chairs and tables. The patio has large, clean benches with enormous canopies over the top. I have been once in the early evening(getting to darkness) and the outside is well lit and welcoming. I drink, in a Youngs pub, Youngs Special, and have never had a duff pint. The beer is kept beautifully and served well. The beer is a tad dear,(around £3.00 a pint), but this is to be expected for a London pub(even East London). The staff are friendly(very much so) and efficient. The bar has reminders for staff and customers alike to smile, and signs containing pithy or poignant quotes and sayings. There is a large(ish — not as enormous as a Wetherspoons, but that to my mind is a bonus) menu. I’ve eaten here at lunchtime a couple of times, and the food is very good, if brown(I had a burger one time and shared a Sausage Feast the second). I’m surprised not to see more vegetable offerings, given the existence of the vegetable garden at the side. The loos are clean and well stocked(I like the individual hand towels piled next to the sink in the ladies’, and a wicker basket to place them in once you’re done). Needless to say, I cannot speak for the men’s rooms! I have tried a couple of the pubs along Bow Road — I needn’t do so again — this is by far the best. Well done.

A Young’s pub in a nice area of Mile End, the Coborn arms serves reasonably priced food and has quite a nice atmosphere. It’s especially pleasant on summer evenings when the front terrace is full. The food is nothing special; my partner wasn’t overly impressed with the quantity of his all-day breakfast, though the quality was quite good.

The Coborn Arms, like its neighbour the Morgan Arms, syles itself as a family-oriented gastropub and though its menu may not be as fancy as that of the Morgan, The Coborn certainly packs them in of a Friday night. With its dedicated darts room and Sky TV the Coborn is a favourite amongst locals who come for the good, hearty and reasonably priced food. Unlike the Morgan the interior of this place is not über-trendy but focuses rather on cultivating a cosy, genuine pub atmosphere which it certainly accomplishes. Drinks wise they offer a good selection at fairly standard rates and the outdoor seating area means its definitly one for warm summer nights. A great place for a family roast or a quiet pint.
