Worth the trip over the river if you want something a little different and fun to the crowded central pubs in London. The long table inside the bar is great for meeting new people after a few pints of the craft beer they have on tap here, or take them outside for a game of ping pong on the tables they have there. The bar has a really nice vibe about it, no rowdy city bankers to ruin the mood and it’s also available for private hire.

More of a ‘space’ than an actual bar but I like the concept. It has an artificial beach which is great in summer and the drinks are reasonably priced. Apart from this I think I was slightly underwhelmed by it. There was nothing specifically wrong with it, it just felt like another slightly quirky bar in London. I was not wowed.

We came here on a Saturday around 7:30 — not overly crowded with some tables available. Slowly through the night the crowd grew, and by the end of the night, it was seriously packed. One word to describe the Doodle Bar? Hipster. The vibe/décor is weirdly shabby industrial. They have chalk available for you to draw all over the chalk board wall(which they were projecting the Holy Mountain on). The staff isn’t that great; we got the vibe they weren’t the friendliest bunch. The drinks were OK — they have a bunch of cocktails and a small selection of beer on tap. We bought some pizza outside, which was pretty good. I noticed there were ping pong tables outside which might come in handy in the summer months. It’s definitely off the beaten path, but that’s something to be appreciated about the Doodle Bar. I wish I liked this place more, but I just thought it was too much — like they tried a little too hard and lost the organic ambiance that really gives a place it’s feel. I definitely want to give Doodle Bar another go when it’s warmer though, the outside area seemed lovely!

The Doodle Bar is cool. Unfortunately it feels out of place in our little neighbourhood, but I think that’s a good thing really. A nice surprise. They make solid cocktails. Try to be there when the Street Kitchen guys are there for some seriously good burgers.

Loved it! Noisy bar in a area of the city where you wouldn’t expect a very cool place. Battersea is growing up! You can even«doodle» on the walls. Great(hipster) vibe and they have outdoor(both uncovered and covered) space too, so you can relax in the sun, or play some ping pong. Definitely going back!

I absolutely adore the vibe of the doodle bar(and the love the fact that it is dog friendly), so much so that my fiancé and i are hoping to hold our wedding reception here… it is housed inside an old dairy on the bank of the thames and the adjoining spaces are used as an arts venue. the guys and girls working there are laid back and friendly, and so are the patrons. they have a small but great selection of wine, beer and also offer lovely sounding cocktails, which are on 2 for 1 offer monday — thursday. doodle bar itself is quite a small space, and i haven’t been of an evening so i couldn’t say how packed out it gets, but i very much enjoyed my chilled out afternoon drink here after a walk in battersea park with my puppy. the wall which you doodle on is a real conversation starter, and you will more than likely find yourselves getting involved with other drinkers in the bar, as we did with the group playing hangman next to us… i suppose we did have the world’s cutest puppy(i am biased, but come on! he’s a french bulldog!) and they did have a pretty ridiculous game of hangman going, so it was a little inevitable we were going to strike up a conversation, but still! i will be back here(hopefully to celebrate my marriage with lots of fun, friends, family & partying!)

We came here for a few drinks while waiting for the nearby burger place to open up. And we’re glad we did! The bar is incredibly hard to find in a weird industrial area in Battersea. The venue is cool though, imagine it to be in Shoreditch, but slightly less douchey even though it is still full of hipsters. There’s an inventive cocktail menu and an extensive wine list. I wanted the chili cocktail, but unfortunately they were out of chili so I went for the one with Earl Grey tea instead. Very tasty. Luckily the chili showed back up for our next round, and that drink was wonderfully spicy. The bartender warned me that the spice level was high, but I loved it anyway. I think he was impressed. There is plenty of chalk and chalkboard walls to draw on while you’re around as well. It does lose a star due to the lack of cask ales. I’ve become a cask ale snob, but in Britain, a pub/bar should have some. Given that they’re in a garage area, I can on some level understand, but I still want to see lovely cask ale available. Also there was a weird grease smudge on my second drink. It was a bit disconcerting.

Bumped into this place during a long walk around London. Was quite surprised to discover such a cool place here and the whole space seemed interesting, including a permanent residency of Street Kitchen and a distillery, all encompassed within art galleries. Expect hipsters. Lots of them. Chelsea hipsters who can’t be bothered to go to the other side of town. Prices are a bit high. Drinks are ok. Yes, its pretty(by industrial design standards that is) and they offer a substantial list of wines and cocktails but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again.

Good beers. Great barmaids. Too succinct?

Fun little bar in a somewhat sketchy industrial building that has a lot of charm. They host lots of events like the Day of the Dead party with mariachi band and free comedy nights and even lectures on random topics. Good casual place to enjoy a cheap(for battersea) drink. And did I mention the walls? You can DRAW on them(hence the name of the bar). Don’t drink the beer on tap, though — I think it might be moonshine from the resultant hangover from merely one pint!

Haven’t been able to stay away from this place since my first visit. Come at lunch for the incredible Street Kitchen lunchboxes of grilled fish and pulled pork. The décor is welcoming, relaxed, and fun, with chalkboard walls that you can draw on. If there isn’t space on the wall try the VW Bug outside that’s also covered in chalkboard paint. Drinks are delicious and not too expensive, and there’s room to play table tennis if you fancy. Love this place.

Hello Battersea! Despite living across the river for a year and a half, I had never walked across the bridge to explore the nightlife. Little did I know there’s a pretty awesome bar a block from the park. It’s like a little bit of east London in the southwest… There’s a large outdoor covered area with a food truck(that I’ll definitely try next time) that’s open until 10pm. After that you have to go inside(for the sake of the neighbors…), but inside you’ll find an entire wall that’s a chalkboard that anyone and everyone is welcome to… wait for it… «doodle» on. With the Royal College of Art down the street and Foster + Partners(large architecture firm) right nearby you’ll find a nice eclectic mix of young people, a really cool vibe, and plenty of drinks to go around.

The Doodle Bar is a bar inside an old industrial building in Battersea. That fact alone had me weeping for joy, before all the other pieces of this amazing find dawned on me: Like the fact that the Doodle Bar is just one of many creatively-themed ventures inside this building, all of which face out into a central space inside the warehouse. This space is decorated with various art installations — red lanterns hanging from the roof; an old, dissected volkswagon Beetle — and a ping pong table. It also occasionally hosts performances by the nearby Royal College of Art. The room the Doodle Bar occupies inside this building rather reminded me of a bar from Wild West movies: two sturdy doors(with a brass letterbox marked ‘Letters’) leading to a high ceiling, roughly exposed wooden tables, walls and a bar with bar stools to the fore and menus on blackboards on the wall behind. There’s so much for me to love about this place: the reclaiming of a disused warehouse for creative use; the hidden nature of it; a cool factor rarely seen in this part of London. So it’s just as well that it scores on all the conventional criteria for a great bar too: free wifi, no minimum amount when paying by card, friendly and helpful staff, good range of beer, including from one of my favourite London breweries, Meantime, and bonus — dee-licious gooey chocolate cake. I just found a new favourite place.

This has to be one of the most fun and out there bars, with a really relaxed atmosphere and cheep drinks. The bar itself was opened last Summer(2009) with a temporary license for alcohol, where it turned into a private functions bar, but is currently waiting for a full license to open it back up this summer(2010)! What you will find is a cool room, with loads of outdoor space in a kind of warehouse. It is just round the corner from Royal Collage of Art in Battersea,(Just over the bridge). It is hidden away but well worth the time to find it, particularly when it reopens this summer fully. The main reason for coming down apart from the cheap drink and the table tennis table, is the fact that everything in the bar is painted white and you are invited to doodle littraly over anything! It’s great fun and brilliant with a group of mates and the calm and relaxed atmosphere means shorts and flip flops is cool! There is also Live art drawing sessions on offer and yoga was happening last summer, so check the website for events. If 2009 was anything to go by Fridays doodle sessions are the ones to make! Check this out if your a fan of cheap drink, some fun, and a laid back atmosphere! Posca Pens are also available to buy at the bar along with drink…
