Not a great refurb of this place, but still an option if you’re in the area. This is my work local and we used to enjoy a quiet(or loud) post-work tipple here before they renovated in late 2014. Unfortunately the changes have hollowed out what atmosphere was there before and this is now just a standard pub. There is nothing unique about it. Nice to stand out the front in the summer apart from the constant cars trying to pull into the side alleyway. Decent beer, nothing more going on here.

i tihnk? this is the devonshire arms i visited? i thought it was a touristy looking«authentic» pub. it was kind of dark inside in the afternoon with some sunlight streaming in. wooden, mildly stick booths. good strawberry beer and slightly flat cider. i thought the bar faire was pretty decent but i had just landed after a 10 hours flight. got some sausages and potatoes and came the next morning for a pretty good sunday roast. definitely not the best place around but it wasnt that bad in my opinion

This pub really should be an old man’s pub that nobody except said old men bother about. Instead however, most nights of the week but especially on Friday it gets absolutely packed with local office workers — god knows why. The Devonshire is a really small cramped space with a few crummy tables at the back and a bad excuse for a smoking area at the front. The food isn’t worth bothering about unless you are so incredibly hungry that you’re inside the pub but literally can’t summon the physical effort to move a muscle. Drinks aren’t too expensive and the selection of beers and ales is decent but I really wouldn’t bother with this pub, especially as it’s in an area where there are so many superior choices.
