Review for brunch only — Barrel is a legit place for an extra cold Sunday morning when all you need is some coffee, filling food and laid back time with your friends. They have pizza, classic brunch items and sandwiches on their menu for brunch. Coffee was decent that we asked for a refill. The bill came under £25 incl. tip for 3 people, which was a steal for the area.

Pizza is delicious. Not sure how clean they are there as the cashier has contact with money and food…

Amazing value for the pizzas, starting at three pounds for a 12-inch margherita! Service basic and never seems too busy.

Falls under expectations. I came for a coffee, a quiche and to do some work on my laptop. Although it’s laptop friendly the wifi is not very stable and there is only maybe one other person using the internet at this moment as I can see. Coffee is watery and definitely not worth a try. Soya milk used is good though. They serve cheap pizzas, other big mains and pastries/sandwiches etc. my quiche was good and staff were friendly. However having an open kitchen that serves restaurant-type food means the place is smelly and smoky. Not the relaxed coffee hangout I was looking for. Don’t intend to come back.

This one falls under: okay food, but horrendous service. It was peak lunch hour on a weekday, and we were essentially ignored the entire time we were there. It took over 10 minutes for a server to come over, and it’s not a large place — they knew we were there. It was also not busy — nearly empty, in fact. Our coffee did come quickly once we put in our order. It was fine, but not great. Our food took forever. The guys who sat next to us(and had arrived after our coffee came) got their pizzas before our crepes came. We could see the entire food prep area from the seating and did notice that they only had one person preparing food. However, they had another 5 staff sitting at a table chatting. The service was beyond terrible. Not only does it not take that long to make two crepes, it wasn’t busy and they ignored our order until they saw us watching them. The food was also not as described in the menu and was missing elements. We won’t be going back. Waiting half an hour for a couple of crepes is not something we want to repeat. I would whole-heartedly recommend checking out one of the zillion other crêpe joints in London before stepping into this one.

The Barrel Boulangerie is a warm, welcoming bakery cum pizzeria cum café. I can’t vouch for the coffee or ‘artisan’ bakery products as I didn’t try them, but I certainly can for the fantastic, superb value pizza(£3 for margherita, £5 for more exotic toppings). Very simply the pizza is done right: thin, not too much cheese, nice ingredients, crispy. Yum. Add on the free wifi, no extra charge for eating in and no minimum spend on a card, and I am most definitely a fan of this place.
