It has taken me a long time to get round to coming out here. Which is something I now regret. This is a great vegetarian restaurant, with amazing food, good wines, relaxed atmosphere and all at an amazingly cheap price. The service was very hands off, allowing you space to chat. We certainly needed all the time we were given to browse the menu, which though quite small is filled with really difficult decisions. We settled for three dishes between the two of us, and that seemed to be the perfect amount. The cauliflower dish, named after a grandmother was divine. I could have eaten another 5 plates worth with ease. I wasn’t so impressed with the fool as I thought it had too much olive oil. The half and half pizza was exactly as we had expected, very tasty and lovely to share. The food took a while to arrive, a testament to the fact that they baked the bread whilst we waited. But it arrived just before I would have started to ask where it was. I will certainly be coming back again, all of my vegetarian friends need to be introduced to this place!

I’ve been meaning to come here since it opened after a strong recommendation. It didn’t disappoint. Service was aloof at times but the food was exquisite. Between 3 of us we ordered quite a few dishes to share but I’d advise more is better. Best thing was by far the cauliflower salad. But the pizza-like breads are a must.

Delicious Middle Eastern food. Thyme and cheese pastries and great wine. Great atmosphere in a classy little joint.

Last Friday I visited this gem of a Palestinian/Lebanese café-bar on Stoke Newington High Street. It’s been on my list of places to visit for the last few months since moving to the neighbourhood and it has the makings of a regular haunt. The space itself is bright and airy, with brick walls adorned with large prints and a massive pizza oven at the front. We were lucky enough to sit in a private room at the back, which is used as the live music/exhibition area. Animated owner Hana Haj Ahmad served us mana’eesh, a middle eastern style pizza baked in the afformentioned massive stone oven with labneh, spinach, onion and lemon toppings, we also had the makdoos, a pickled aubergine dish, which is delicious and fried cauliflower, a uniquely distinctive dish which was a favourite of ours. Top tip,(if you like wine) try the Lebanese wine, as it’s one of the most delectable wines that has ever made the journey down my oesophagus. Live music nights are a regular feature, ranging from Folk Gypsy to traditional Palestinian to Afro Fusion.
