La Duchesse

This has been one of my favorite places since it opened. The staff have always gone out of their way to be helpful and friendly to me, especially both times I was coming in exhausted with a tiny baby in the pram. The coffee is great and I especially recommend the handmade coco rocher. The food is fine; it was a bit limited in selection last time I was in, but I see now they are doing pizzas. They have free wifi and a few different areas in the restaurant, so those who want to work quietly are a bit separated from those of us with our kids and those who are having conversations with their grown-​up friends. The location is also great; it’s good to have a nice coffee shop on this end of Church Street, and even though they only take cash, at least they’re directly across the street from an ATM.
