I am not religious in the slightest but was very interested to find out, having watched all of the BBC’s Little Dorrit series, that that this church on Borough High Street was the church in which Little Dorrit got marred in the book (not the series) The churchyard which is now a peaceful garden, was the original site of where the Marshalsea debtors’ prison was once housed– where Dicken’s father was actually imprisoned. There is a wall to commemorate the church’s historical and literary connections. Nearby, there are all sorts of Little Dorrit/​Dickens local connections– Little Dorrit Court and Charles Dickens School.
