Slug & Lettuce

A friend and I had 30 minutes spare before our dinner reservations so popped in to Slug & Lettuce. On a saturday at 5.30 they still had 241 on cocktails so we took advantage of that. Unlike lots of places you are able to mix and match so don’t have to both get the same one. Love this!
However the service was so so slow! O well, we got our cocktails just in time to down them and off we went.
The place lacks ambience but does have a reasonable cocktail menu. If you like sweet and bright I recommend Dune Bug.

First time here and was expecting a larger restaurant. But don’t let that fool you. Excellent service and the Sloppy Mac Burger is wonderful
Warning the appetisers where larger than you would have imagine. Make sure you share it.

Nice layout (once you get away from the bar). Good position in Shad Thames and with excellent views outside over the water and up to Tower Bridge, especially at night.

Came here after a drink at The George and was very happy with our decision. The waitress was very rushed off her feet as she looked like the only one on the serving floor which meant she made a couple of mistakes but they were easily remedied and we even got her to smile a few times when we all took pictures of our food for the Unilocal review.
I had the open chicken pie which was absolutely devine! It was to very tender chicken breasts in a creamy sauce cover in flaky pastry. My vege friend was very happy to have the bangers and mash with quorn sausages and my other two friends were happy with their regular bangers and mash and steak.
What topped off the evening was the desserts. It was a two for one special so we ordered four different desserts and shared — all were of the best quality! We had the waffle with ice cream, cookie cup explosion, cheesecake and chocolate pudding and I would find it hard to choose between them.
They had run out of quite a few beers (all of the ales) and didn’t have our first choice in wine but we were so happy with the meal we didn’t mind so much picking our second or third choice in drinks.

Slug and Lettuce has a great atmosphere and a great menu! The service was a little slow, but the food was definitely above average! Risotto was very good and falafel burger was as well. Curry was nice, but unremarkable. I would come back, especially for the ½ off Monday and drink deals throughout the week.

You can’t go wrong with a Slug & Lettuce, especially during happy hour! Met up here briefly with a friend after work for a catch up — it had been a whole week since we’d seen each other! Too long, I know.
This was a good location, on my way home and right by my friend’s work. Nothing special, nice interior and for a Monday night it was full, which I think is mainly because of location. We went for a quick pint and some chips to keep us going, found a couple of comfy chairs and chatted an hour away.
Can’t complain, good place for a stop off whilst commuting.

Average pub with standard food and happy hour drinks. The interior is rather cold. I prefer the traditional wooden pubs that are all over London.

As we were staying a near by hotel we decided we would try Slug & Lettuce for the first time.
I had printed off a voucher from a a web site giving £10 off any food order over £20. Great deal we thought.
We tried to go and eat 4 times during our say, all 4 times the tables where full with people drinking, not eating, so we had no where to sit, so had to leave. We never saw 1 person eating each time we went! :-P
NOT big enough for the location. more tables needed and maybe an ‘eating’ area would be a good idea?

This is like many of the places in London where you order and pay at the bar and they bring out the food. Prices are reasonable. They have some patio tables on the triangle corner which makes for a nice outdoor setting. I had the beef pie in wine sauce. It’s served with fries and peas. This was good for what we paid. It wasn’t very busy, so service was good. I only saw a few employees, so service could be difficult if it’s crowded.

Normally when we come to Borough Market, we eat at Borough Market but it was so cold I begged to eat indoors and found this place.
The food was tasty. Penne arrabiata was spicy and the Chili Con Carne wasn’t bad either. Both were on lunch special for 5.95. Can’t beat that!
Though the protocol for finding a seat wasn’t clear nor made clear to us when we asked. It was a nice warm alternative to Borough Market.

I’m not a big fan of The Slug and Lettuce chain, but this one seams to buck the trend.
Unlike the over ones I been in the sirvace was very good from the freindlly staff and the food really good. The prices are still a bit step for the food.
The selection of beer is quite wide. The décor is quite monden but not tacky.
