Since the bar has been elongated it has been filled with unattentive staff who fail to shuck and turn the oysters without leaving shell chips in them, have less to little knowledge of the oysters they are serving and spend more time chatting amongst themselves than pouring guests champagne/replenishing bread baskets etcetera. This used to be a favourite haunt but it is testament to the common mistake of substituting higher quality staff with a larger number of an inferior standard. If it ain’t broke why try and fix it??? Tragic and now unfortunately not worth the money.

Listen up my Single ladies girlfriends! If you like seafood, must try! This is My favorite«single lady night» activity in London. I love seafood but cooking seafood for myself is just a lot of work. And, I don’t like going to a bar/pub by myself… Feel Iike I am waiting to be picked up. Selfridges oyster bar solves all of my problem, you get oysters, fresh lobsters salad and /or crab salad, together with pink champagne, and friendly servers, and no one to hassle you! In my opinion, a total win for a single lady enjoying her afternoon/evening with a little indulgence. Side note: and if you need extra indulgence: shopping or spa is always an available pick me up at Selfridges.

Just when i thought my feet would give out I passed or rather stopped at the Oyster bar. Nice selection of oysters, salmon gravlox and caviar if you have 300 or 400 to drop. A simple shrimp coctail would have been nice. I prefer the menu at Harrod’s Veue Cliquot bar.

A true Sex in the City place, if there ever was one that existed outside of Manhattan. What could be more enjoyable and decadent than squeezing yourself in one of the few bar chairs at this lovely oyster and champagne bar in the middle of Selfridge food hall. Don’t be daunted by the bustling location, you’ll soon forget you’re in the middle of the giant department store after that first chip of champagne and that first taste of oyster. The Jersey and Channel Island oysters are lovely with the rose champagne. If you’re looking for a little sweetness in your champagne, go for the Kir Royale. Upon leaving, your purse will be a little lighter(this place is pricey) but your face will glow with the champagne and knowing you’ve indulged in a slice of heaven.

Selfridges Oyster Bar is the ultimate decadent experience. Go here and expect to see wealth personified. The whole setting is so intimate that within seconds you know your Oyster bearers on a first name basis. There are 18 surrounding a semi circular fish counter which is in the heart of the food hall. Its a really interesting venue because you have the intimacy and cosiness of the bar amongst the hustle and bustle of the food hall. The menu is pricey but what else would you expect. Obviously, the most popular choice are Oysters and Champagne, both of which they have huge selections of. If oysters aren’t for you, they certainly aren’t for me there are other option such as prawns, crab, lobster and salmon. I opted for a plate of Smoked Salmon which was lovely but at £12 I could of got some just as nice from Marks! I think unless your a die hard Oyster fan the food is a little wasted but the people watching doe make it worth while. To their credit, we were laughing and bantering with the guys working the bad and they gave us a free plate of Salmon. Who said a smile gets you no where?!
