Selfridge Thistle Hotel

Great location, room was a bit pokey but clean and generally OK. Staff were friendly and helpful whilst we were there. However the food in the restaurant was appalling, had it not been for the fact that dinner was included in our room price and we had to get to a theatre I would have sent my main course back. It was meant to be sausage and mash, however the sausages were burnt to a crisp and they tasted hidious (even the inner unburnt parts), the sauce/​gravy didn’t go well with them at all (although not much would have done) and the mash was nothing more than average. However I didn’t go there for the food, I went there because it was conveniently located and reasonably priced for London. I would go back, however not venture to the restaurant.

Wir wurden hier zur Weihnachtsfeier meines Mannes eingebucht und waren erst sehr erfreut, dass es gleich neben der Oxford Street liegt. Aber das war dnan auch schon der einzige Pluspunkt. Ich meine, dass der Zimmerpreis bei 140 Pfund lag. Unser Zimmer war sowas von alt und herunter gekommen, im Bad waren Risse mit Silikon gepflickt worden, es war nicht sauber. Ich wuerde dort nicht noch einmal übernachten.

The Selfridge is very centrally located and initially appears rather plush but is actually getting a bit jaded. The standard rooms were just that, but not as small as I was led to believe. Again a bit tatty when you looked into the corners, but clean, and comfortable, the staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The food in the restaurant was of very good quality, although minimalist, but the prices were pretty fair for a Central London location. Breakfast, which was included, was very pleasing to the eye, and plentiful with a lot to choose from, but the cooked breakfast wasn’t cooked particularly well, although you could have as much as you wanted.
