nice place for a sunday brunch close to clapham junction! I’ve been there a couple of times and had the opportunity to try their pancakes which are giants and yumy! the 2nd time i went for the avocado heaven with bacon which was nice, it would have been perfect if the hollandaise sauce was a bit more tasty! it’s a bit noisy inside as the room is quite small for the number of people that can be accomodated! this room is very luminous and they even have a real tree inside, you could almost feel outside! I would definitely recommend this place but make sure you are not too hungry when going there as the wait can be long on Sundays!

Scoffers is a fantastic little place hidden away in Clapham. The food is delicious and with offers such as two courses for £13(£18 steak included!!) it’s definitely a winner! The place is lovely and has a great atmosphere with a giant tree in the dining room. Makes you feel like you are dining outside! Sadly I don’t live in Clapham but if I did, this would become a regular haunt!

I’ve eaten here now for Brunch, lunch and dinner. Every time the staff are great, the food is epic, an dessert is a must. Consistency is key with restaurants. An Scoffers has it in droves. There is so many restaurants in Clapham, but not all are as reliable as Scoffers

Middling quality but unexceptional breakfasts, somewhat over priced, and with friendly but slow service. One enlivening factor is the option to have a bloody Mary with your full English.

Tucked away off of Battersea Rise, Scoffer’s is my new favorite neighborhood dinner/lunch/brunch spot. I noticed them only after going to Cleavers Butcher a few times, which is my new favorite butcher that offers free range, local British meats. Local means the food is sustainable and purchased directly from the farmers, almost ensuring that the meat, eggs and vegetables are going to be healthy and more authentically tasting than wilted produce from Tesco’s down the street. I was told that Scoffers was owned by the same people who owned Cleavers so I was really excited to test it out. I went with my boyfriend and roommate on a Friday night — it wasn’t too crowded which was a shame, but there was a great energy in the place and it was lively without being too loud. The service was excellent — waiters were very attentive and made good recommendations. We tried both of the terrine’s — I had never had one before but similar to a pâté, both were delicious. I had the fish pie — fish was flaky and fresh, the crust was nice and crisp, and brought out to me piping hot. We had a carafe of wine which was reasonably priced and were pleased to see they had specials for almost every day of the week. I will definitely be back to try the 2−4−1 cocktails and the other specials. Oh and how can I forget the Tree… a huge tree in the middle of the dining room — makes you feel like you’re dining in the backyard of a friend’s house — very homey and inviting and we lingered while we finished our wine. We’re planning on taking some out of town friends here and can’t wait to go back to try the brunch. A MUST try if you’re in Clapham Junction or nearby!

Because I’ve never written a review on here in my life and because it’s my favorite place on earth besides Sydney, let me just say, you should not pass up an opportunity to happen upon this SW11 gem. Whenever I need reassurance as to why I’m not back in America peddling for tasteless food in DC, here is this heavenly, earthy, tree-laden dining room with phenomenal food. I said phenomenal. Yes, there is a tree growing in the middle and it takes you back to the days laying on the common and rolling around in the fresh grass trying to squeeze the last ounce of sun out of the english clouds. As fresh as it gets, as good as it gets. Its our guilty weekend pleasure. Slide on through the small doorway and into one of the cozy alcoves or under the tree branches with good company and the food and drink will work their magic. Now that I’ve blogged for the first time, I can only imagine the larky comments coming my way :) Scoffers I’ll take a free espresso next time :)

Must be a big place because the part of this shop I went into, was a butchers. Bought some bacon & a garlic. Friendly staff behind the counter. Pity its too far from me to visit often.

I recently visited Scoffers restaurant in Clapham. In terms of style, Scoffers is a magpie, picking up dishes from all over Thai, Chinese, French, Italian and transporting them to its nest perched on Battersea Rise. For a midweek adventure in these credit crunched times, we went for the prix fix menu 2 courses for 10 pounds. I was delighted when the Provencal mussels arrived. Accompanied by a garlic ciabatta toast, I mopped up the last of rich tomato broth. Licking my lips in satisfactionwhat a lovely meal, I thought. Oh. but wait.this was 2 courses for ten pounds. More to come! Could they beat this lovely starter with the next course. In a . A very frank and clear NO. If the first course was a summers evening in Cannes then the second course was a wet weekend and a slap in the face. The curry main course(and yes, the use of inverted commas is very significant) was the consistency of dishwater and the tastewell. mildly spiced dishwater. Now I am a typical Brit, I don’t like to complain in restaurants. But in this instance I felt it very necessary to complain. You may think that 2 course for 10 pounds, you get what you pay for but it wasn’t the lack of costly ingredients in the dish it was lacking in love! The use of some low prices spices and a little time to allow the sauce to thicken, then this dish would have been fine, but without this. I just had to complain. The waiting staff couldn’t be nicer, and allowed us to re-order to make sure we left 100% satisfied. Ordering off the more exciting starter menu, we opted for more seafood, which was pleasant enough. For me Scoffers just doesn’t get off the starters block! Its mains from around the world just don’t cut it for me. Jack of all Trades, Master of None. If it stuck to good, solid Mediterranean dishes that it seemed to do well and if kept their well-mannered staff then I would come back to this potentially lovely neighbourhood restaurant.

Scoffers feels like the country house of your posh Aunt. It’s bright, decked out in all yellow, wood and with plants everywhere. Basically it is super cosy and homely. Considering it’s located moments from the popular Northcote Rd, you can expect to encounter many gorgeous young couples and yummy mummies with their blond angels. Scoffers is very popular and always busy, especially for their notorious weekend breakfast. This is one of the best(sadly the most expensive too) breakfasts I’ve had ever, and the calming décor helps to ease the hangover. It is a small business, so if you want your bacon well done and your toast lightly toasted you can ask! Tea and coffee is made to your desire and they have amazing fresh smoothies too. Their dinner menu, I’m assured, is also delicious(especially the duck, my friend who lives about four doors from the place asserts; not for this veggie though!). The only downside is that Scoffers is pricey. But if you’re feeling flush, or want to go hang out with the SW11 young professionals, then give this place a whirl.
