This place is great! A really good atmosphere, I liked the décor and the food is delicious! I had the Mozzarella Sticks for starter and the Big Red for my main which was the best burger I have ever had! I mean seriously, that was tasty. Love this place and I will definitely be back.

I’d walked past Red Dog a number of times but had never been inside, so when a friend suggested we get a bite to eat there I was keen to give it a go. And I have to say I was not disappointed! The décor is pretty rustic. Wooden tables and benches both inside and outside. The whole place is decorated in wood and feels like you are in some in deep in the Southern US — it adds to experience. Our waitress was lovely. Really friendly, happy to explain some of the more unusual menu items(Burnt End Pie and Hot Links to name couple)* and patient while we ordered and happy to make recommendations. The food when it arrived was really nice. I had the Blue Plate which is southern fried chicken, mash potato and gravy and collard Greens(I substituted my greens for coleslaw). The chicken was crisp and flavoursome and perfectly moist, the mash potato was smooth and creamy and the coleslaw was really delicious — best I’ve had out in a while. My only criticism would be there wasn’t enough gravy. My friend ordered the Cobb salad and chips(which she consumed by dipping in my coleslaw!!) and was equally pleased with her meal. We ordered a bottle of wine between us and a bottle of sparkling water as well. The bill which included tip was very reasonable. We were allowed stay on for a couple of hours while we chatted and drank our drinks and weren’t rushed out, on the contrary we were felt we were welcome to stay. If you are in the area and looking for good food with little fuss then I highly recommend giving it a go! *in case you are interested the Hot links are Buttered Leeks and the Burnt End Pie is brisket covered in mashed potato like a shepherd’s pie!

One of the best burgers in town. The Punisher was medium rare cooked, juicy and flavoursome, good mixing with pulled pork. Naga Viper chilli sauce is seriously seriously hot. Good imported beer. Also Camden pale ale on tap.

Not bad, but there are better places around Clapham for this type of food I think. Service was great though.

I’m a Chicago-an, born and raised, so I like to think I know American BBQ and tragically, this wasn’t it. Keep in mind, I’d been here once before to partake in the hot wings(which I really enjoyed) so I figured, if they do wings this well the BBQ must be outstanding. I came with my wife, brother-in-law, and his wife and we all tried three different things: the brisket, the ribs, and the pulled pork. Let me preface this by saying I know Kansas City style BBQ puts more of an emphasis on the post-cook sauce than the Carolina style, so I was fully expecting the meat to just be a vehicle for the sauce… However, that wasn’t what we got. The brisket we received was overly fatty, as if they hadn’t trimmed any of the fat off it before smoking it. The pulled pork was overly dry, with bits of the pork tasting like it been under a heat lamp for 20 hours.(Given that we were eating dinner at 19:45pm on a Friday, I’d highly doubt that pork was the last portion of the day.) And the ribs, tragically, were a good portion size but were some of the fattiest and gristliest ribs we’d ever seen. We spent more time removing the gristle and fat than we did actually eating the meat. I wouldn’t have minded so much if the meat was nicely smoked — the kind with a good smoke ring and a nice bark — but this meat tasted parboiled and then quickly grilled at a high heat. It couldn’t have been more disappointing. The only reason I’m not giving it one star is because the ambience is fantastic — my wife remarked several times that the place does feel like it could be in America, and the service was very good. And the KC sauce, while a little too heavy on the molasses for my tastes was still a very good sauce(I’ve never been a fan of the vinegary Carolina style sauce, so I won’t weigh in on that). And of course, their hot wings were spot on. Ultimately though, if you want to recreate the Red Dog Saloon experience you don’t even need to go here. Grab a bottle of Bart’s Kansas City BBQ Sauce from Ocado, follow this recipe( ) to parboil some baby back ribs, and throw on a copy of Roadhouse instead.

Great food… if your a carnivore. Caters for vegetarians too with coleslaw coming as a side with your burger if you wish. Selection of lagers was limited but all round a good place for a dinner/drinks with friends.

Really great atmosphere at the Red Dog on a Friday night. I ordered the Californian burger and shared a huge fries with a friend. The burger was massively tasty with bacon and guacamole topping. We had a few rounds of cocktails which went down well, especially the Long Island ice tea. The only let down was the speed of service, this may have been because they were mega busy!

I came in here with my sister and I don’t know what had happened earlier in the evening to set him off like that, but the member of staff we spoke to was an absolute JERK. I’m pretty sure he was French, although his English was perfect while he was being extremely rude and verbally abusive to the two of us. The way he talked to and treated us was absolutely disgraceful, and I wouldn’t wish him on anyone. Never going back here.

Very good BBQ! I had the pulled pork which was good and smokey, and wasn’t drowning in overly sweet BBQ sauce — it had just the right amount, and you could put more on if you wanted to. The mac and cheese and collard green accompaniments were also good! Service was fast and friendly. Quite expensive but it is London after all, and it is trendy… I went during the opening week where all food was 50% off — made it pretty close to what it would cost in America… booze was still expensive though!
