I keep forgetting about Portobello House(no relation to Soho or Electric House) as it’s on a stretch of Ladbroke Grove I don’t walk past quite as often. It’s one of these places you take for granted, it’s always been there and hopefully always will be. I actually prefer its current incarnation to the old Earl Percy. The décor is friendly and inviting and the staff extremely helpful. Admittedly it feels a lot less like a traditional boozer now than like a hotel bar — very mixed crowd of different nationalities. Mind you, the cocktails are great and they had some excellent shows during Portobello Live.

We are from the states and wanted a B&B to stay while we were in London. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are nice and spacious. The bed is a little soft for my taste but besides that it was comfortable. As far a the bar goes, at nite we would come back after a long day and relax before we went to bed. It was very convenient . I would book a room here again. check It out!

Very nice refurbished inn! Visiting friends in the Portobello neighborhood and they recommended this as a convenient place to stay. Only popped in for one night, but the staff was very friendly and gracious, both when checking in and out. They seemed genuinely proud of the place. The room was simple, clean and cozy. The inn is a short walk from the Ladbroke Grove stop. I definitely will plan another stay on a future visit to London.

Great drinks, great ambiance, skip the food I love coming to Portobello House on a nice afternoon for a few drinks with friends. The pub itself is adorable — you feel like you’re hanging out in someone’s giant Anthropologie-clad living room. When it’s warm, they open the patio and the huge windows let in cheery natural light. i typically go for a nice glass of Rosé here, but I’ve tried a decent amount of the cocktails and they have all been solid. On my last visit here, my friend and I sampled some of the tapas off of their bar menu, which were overpriced and pretty mediocre(we had some shrimp and avocado plate that was tiny and had shrimp that seemed store bought all drenched in a soggy mayo sauce as well as salty overfried calamari). I would skip eating here and save your appetite for a number of other places along Portobello Road. All in all, this is a great place to catch up with friends or for a relaxed date.

On the surface the place looks nice enough. And as a local resident over the years been at this locale under different guises. Not much has changed. The dark haired Eastern European waitress was short, curt on on the deffencive. I would under stand if she or the place was busy. But a total of 9 patrons does not constitute being slammed or crappy rude service. The bartender too seemed put off by doing her job as she explained the kitchen was cladding at 8pm. Yes 8 Pm! The steak tartar was ok no capers and lacked the soft usual zing that the French perfect. Takes forever to order a drink. You would think at the prices they charge they would be more on the ball. That being said they are on the wrong side of Ladbroke grove and behave with the charm if a underage bar back in a south London speak easy. Just ok. and I’m being generous here. Not great and definate room for improvement.

This place used to be known as the Earl Percy Hotel. It was your everyday corner pub, with cheap drinks, greasy furniture and your local«Paralympian» who miraculously didn’t need his wheelchair anymore after a couple of pints and so on. The total number of times I’ve been there is 4(3 times when it was still known as Percy). The first time I asked for a coffee and everybody in the pub stopped what they were doing and gave me a funny look, like in the old cowboy movies. After that incident I learned my lesson and asked for larger tops. But, surprise, surprise! They changed the manager and now it’s called Portobello House, Hotel, Bar & Bistro and it’s well fancy! The bar is still called Percy and you can still see the«Paralympian» occasionally on weekends. The food is super yummy, I have to admit(weird combination of ingredients but absolutely delicious) and the place has completely changed. It’s very colourful and chic, I absolutely love the projection screen that plays old black and white movies. The staff is helpful and friendly… maybe a bit too friendly if you know what I mean but hey, c’est la vie. Dunno about the rooms, cuz we live literally across the street from PH but from what I hear they are small, comfortable, clean and lovely decorated. Unfortunately everybody is complaining about the noise from the street. If you plan on spending some nights there, ask for rooms that don’t have windows facing Labroke Grove. :D

Just had a great night in the refurbished Portobello House. A great, chilled atmosphere and some of the best food we have had in London. With such competition around this area this little gem stands out from the crowd. Top class.
