The worst Turkish I have experienced in London. Decided to try somewhere new and it was an absolute let down. Oily rice, full portion of white bait was more like half a portion, no flavor in the king prawns although it supposedly contained garlic, tomato and cream. Never again… my search for a decent Turkish restaurant continues.

We tourists got off on the wrong bus stop thinking we would drop by the local Sainsbury’s for some frozen pizzas to take back to our airbnb for a late dinner. Soon as we hopped off the double decker we stumbled upon the sign for this place and I knew there would be no Sainsbury’s or frozen food in our immediate future. This little unpretentious place is amazing. The food was fresh, like they made it on the spot for us and I do believe it was equivalent or even less in price than those pizzas we had planned to pop in the oven. And it was open until 11:00 p.m. We had the Patlican Soslu, a dip of fried aubergine, baked with tomatoes, onion, green peppers, garlic and olive oil. The flavor was subtle and had a very faint smokiness that went well with the fresh pita bread served in a basket. The fresh humus had a hint of garlic and a creamy, rich flavor. The lahmacuns(Turkish style pizza) were light and crispy and also made to order. To drink, I tried the salgam, a bottled turnip juice. It was surprisingly refreshing. If you happen to miss your stop or find yourself wandering in this seemingly out of the way area, and are looking for a light, reasonably priced delicious meal, you will be sorry if you pass this little gem up!
