We saw the ‘nearby’ suggestion for this restaurant while in a pub next door. After reading through the menu, we got very hungry and decided to leave straight away and try it out. The restaurant itself is simple with nicely set tables and napkins. We were the only ones in there as we went at an odd time between lunch and dinner. Staff were nice enough, but nothing overly friendly. We spotted the ‘couples meal’ after spending some time reading through the menu. For £20 pounds you get everything in my photos, so 2 types of meat dishes(one lamb and one chicken), saffron rice, potatoes and a lentil dal. You also get a naan bread, two samosas and a chicken starter. Oh yeah, and two soft drinks of your choice, so good value all around. I also added a peshwari naan. The samosas were crispy, not oily and good. That’s coming from someone who doesn’t normally like them. The chicken starter was delicious and well spice. The main meal was incredible with everything hot and perfectly spiced. We had no complaints at all, the amount of food was more than enough. We were well stuffed by the time we rolled out of there. Everything came well timed to the table as well, and we didn’t feel rushed at all. I can’t wait to return the next time I’m in the area!

Ok, it’s an Indian place named Nouvelle Spice. so it ain’t gonna be that authentic, is it? In the center of New Cross, this is an Indian restaurant which is pleasant to eat at and good value for money either for eat in or takeaway. It ain’t Tayyab. It ain’t Dishoom. It’s somewhere to go if you want some general Indian type grub. Prawn Pathia was disappointing, served with an obviously pre-, made/jarred sauce. Tasted fine, but had that jarred glooopiness about it. For £5.95 I can’t complain. However, the general papadom and samosas were fine… although nothing to write home about. The service is very good — polite and responsive. **big bonus*** BYOB! BYO wine… or whichever you wish. 3 stars overall for an economic decent meal.

A decent curry house. Not bad but not life-changing. Pretty huge menu. I ordered the lamb dupiaza, which was OK flavour-wise, although the lamb was a bit tough and tasteless. The side of Basmati rice was generous for £2, so thumbs up, although obviously just precooked and then reheated in a microwave. My friend had the Salmon tikka which looked good, and the gobi bhaji(cauliflower curry) as a side, which was decent but nothing special. At least the cauliflower seemed fresh and tasted like cauliflower. The masala chai(I asked for milky) was a bit watery for my tastes. But the popadoms were great, as was the selection of condiments, both fairly priced. Overall, I’d go back if I really fancied a curry outside in New Cross, as this appears to be the best option, but if I were up for a take-away, I’d go for Cinnamon, which I’ve heard really good things about. Service was prompt, attentive, friendly but unobtrusive. Overall I was satisfied with this place, they did a good job and value for money is good.

We were lead to Nouvelle Spice by a series of glowing reviews. We entered with open minds expecting to experience some of London’s best Indian. We ordered the Nilgiri Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala as well as an order of steamed basmati rice and naan. While no dishes were bad, none were excellent either. Neither dish had any spice to speak of, the naan was crispy(borderline burned), and rice dry and stale. Aside from the food, we were told to expect fantastic service. We were seated as soon as we entered(the restaurant was not very full) but we waited about 15 minutes for our order to be taken and near a half hour for our food to arrive. The table of four to our side actually walked out after being seated and waiting for their order for to be taken. After we concluded our meal we waited an additional 15 minutes for the check.

You have to try the salmon tikka, it is delicious! In fact, it’s hard to find many faults with this place. The service is excellent, the staff are friendly and attentive. Perhaps the décor and bathroom facilities are a little dated but everything is clean and well maintained. As for the food, i can say for certain that the vegetable jalfrezi is generously spiced, the chicken masala is very tasty and the mango lassi is delicious. My only criticism: the sag aloo was a bit salty. Come hungry and try everything!

Had a takeaway, my usual Indian takeaway has gone down hill, so I thought I’d look around for something new. I’m glad I did the food was excellent and you get plenty for your money, they even added free nann and popadoms. Will be ordering again!

Wow. Just wow. I literally died and went to heaven when this place delivered to mine the day after my birthday. The garlic chilli chicken was amazing and so was the peshwari nan. This will be my top priority when ordering Indian food… maybe I could try the restaurant itself soon.

Great place, with tons of interesting curries at pretty reasonable prices. Had a pumpkin curry which was just amazing, and was spoilt for choice in general with what to eat. Best of all the staff here are extremely friendly and make going here a pleasure.

I’ve recently found myself back in New Cross the past month and wandered past this forgotten gem. As a student, and as a freelancer in the area Nouvelle Spice was the place to go for a nice meal out in the area. Reasonably priced, it is my choice in the area. Bring your own booze, or forget to, nip across the road to the offie, buy bottle and enjoy. It makes the bill spitting scene a lot less painful trying to figure out the nitty gritty of who drunk what. The food always comes out hot, fresh, colorful and with a smile. The Naans are some of the best I’ve ever had and they’re the size of your face. There isn’t a great deal of room in the restaurant, but inside is pleasant and clean. No paper napkins here, it’s all linen.

London, I’ve been told, is famous for wonderful Indian food, and this place made me understand why. On the outside, it is fairly unassuming, but once inside it is subtly chic with large artistic photos on the wall and upbeat music playing. The food is reasonably priced and comes in an abundance. The sag panir was my favourite — it was so creamy and rich! I definitely want to go back the next time I visit London.

Tasty Indian dishes with good flavors at very reasonable prices. Also, nice place to «bring your own bottle» as noted right on the window… We stopped in here on a Thursday night while staying at the grungy New Cross Inn hostel for a few nights. Following the window instructions, we brought our own bottle of vino to enjoy with our meal. For an app, we split the veggie samosas which were lightly fried and a good size to share. With the app, our waiter brought out an array of sauces and Indian condiments(for lack of a better description), like mango chutney, creamy yogurt, fermented limes, onions and tomatoes, to name a few. Great complement to the dish. For our main course, we ordered a mixed plate of chicken basmati veggie rice, the sag paneer and an order of the garlic nan. Everything was delicious, and tasted fresh. The nan was crunchier vs. chewier which I liked… a little different from SF nan. It was a good amount for the two of us for about 12GPB. Staff was friendly and helpful too. We tried going back the next night(Friday) but it was all booked, so we took that as another sign that it’s a great spot for Indian. Probably the only place in New Cross you’ll need a reservation for, so keep that in mind during the weekend…

Our favorite take-away delivery, great range of dishes, good sized portions, all very pleasing. It does double as a BYO eat in.

Nouvelle Spice is awesome for a takeaway curry, not exceptionally cheap but not expensive either, you can also sit inside but there is not much seating space. If you do, it’s BYOB which is great for money saving tactics and for birthday meals with friends. The staff are really friendly and good to get to know, as a Goldsmiths Student you end up going there a LOT. I would recommend any of the chef’s specials, especially the aubergine boat if you don’t quite fancy battling with one of their hot lamb curries. And as for the naan breads– great, the peshwari is really delicious and really sweet.
